The gameplay trailer for it looks too similar to the Sonic Boom spinoff series, maybe they were, maybe this means people will get more open areas and basic Adventure / Lost World style platforming

I doubt it, Sega just likes to steal shit from other things. At one point Sonic adventure eggman looked more like the one in the cartoon. They notably took several elements of shadow's character from Sonic X and incorperated it into who his now. Chilidogs are also a cartoon invention

They never really took anything from the comics though, which is strange because out of all the dumb shit the comic had, they had an in canon expiation for how the chaos emeralds could work with out one touching them.Which explain several characters powers , even sonic. Oh well, all non canon now.
