Spider-Man E3 2017 Gameplay - PS4 - 2018

It's not like there's no magic thrust being applied here either. It wouldn't hurt to crank it up a little to make things faster.

to a much lesser degree though. Maybe they opted to not have spidey go mach 2 with his web swinging and make a smaller scaled city with buildings that don't make spiderman look like a ... well like a spider in size.

Just going by scale if you can swing through 10 blocks at a time with one boost like in spiderman 2 they'd have to make the city much bigger. I can only assume.

Actually, I'm pretty disappointed they included an Oracle-type character.

If there's anyone that can get away with talking/monologuing to themself, it's Spider-man.

To all of those complaining about the speed of Spider-Man's swing compared to Spider-Man 2, it's very possible that one of the upgrades Spider-Man can get in the new game are speed increases, along with tricks unlocks while swinging/combat upgrades/etc. It was a thing in Spider-Man 2, and I'm sure it'll be the same thing here. Just look at Insomniac's other "superhero" game series (inFamous). Lots of upgrades to go through, that enable you to move faster/traverse things easier/etc.

I trust Insomniac, that they will release an amazing (pun intended) Spider-Man game. Everything I've seen so far, especially this E3 demonstration, only solidifies that belief.
inFamous is Sucker Punch.

If I ever post something in Japanese which I don't understand, please BAN me.
jstevenson, are people allowed to record the demo on the show floor?

They usually use the God mode in these trailers to show the game at its best. So I really doubt that this wasn't an upgraded version of his swing.

Possibly the speed is matching the Helicopter so you won't be able to catch it right off the bat, who knows. Comparing a complete game that's been out for ages to an 8 min demo and making definitive statements is a bit silly.

I wonder what the game actually plays like in the open world without the scripted spectacle. Combat looks fun, to say the least.

Never been a fan of Spiderman working directly for Nick Fury/SHIELD in his more recent media appearances.

Always just preferred him as a wisecracking goof who beats up bank robbers, not a dedicated SHIELD agent pulling off more structured missions for the government.

Looks outstanding. I don't mind the QTEs for the action sequences as long as there's plenty of more interactive free-roaming/combat segments in-between.

making games aren't simply thinking something and doing it.

giving players freedom in some of these moments can prove tricky or extremely difficult to do.

there isn't a game out there that can pull of some of the shit done in this demo without QTEs. If there is feel free to post it.

The solution then is to go in a different direction, try other, cooler things.

Boom. Faster swinging confirmed. I wish they would give the public a demo.

Sounds more like more skilled swinging or alternate paths than faster.

I understand why they had this as their first demo. It's action packed and cinematic. Unfortunately, it doesn't show off what could make this game special, like the joy of traversing around the city leisurely and helping out the little people.

I felt Enter Electro was pretty lame in comparison to the first game. Could never put my finger on why, just felt off to my childish self.

The first game had MONSTER OCK, motherfucker!

I loved the second game but that the only one I had. Played the first at a friend's house. All those alternate suits... Spidey fan heaven!

Enter Electro kept setting up the Beetle for something but he just flies off halfway through the game.

Looks spectacular and the gameplay seems amazing, can't wait!

There are also some "funny" things: we can notice people popping in the streets when Spider-Man is taking down the bad guys (still impressive to even see some people from such a distance) and when the helicopter is stopped, I saw some guys not giving a fuck about the crash, I laughed at it.

OMG glad i'm not the only one that noticed that.

Not actually that important
You are assuming a lot from that demo.

I'm assuming a lot? I'm just examining what has been showed: Rocksteady does Spiderman with Santa Monica's love for QTEs thrown in the mix. Didn't look like an Insomniac game at all. What was exciting and new and original about the game besides the subject matter and having a triple A current-gen Spidey game with great production values?
I get it that to most that is enough, not to me.

inFamous is Sucker Punch.

they would have been more exciting for this but I'm glad they're doing their own thing right now (I assume a new IP or infamous game)

this looks pretty fun though. not as exciting as I hoped when I saw the teaser, but a step up from previous marvel action games for a while. and the presentation of the setpieces with the webswinging is nice.

I just want to preorder it. Also want to know if they have several bosses or just one main one. Want more details if it's open world night day cycle stuff.

What a Quick and Timely Event!

Slinging was dope, Mr Negative was dope, and that Miles tease make it all better. But damn if it isn't Akrham Spidey: The QTE.

All I really remember about it was having trouble with the Lizard boss fight, to such an extent I had to email a friend about how I was supposed to defeat him (never wrapped my head around the best way to use the internet back then). Dude was frustrating.

Was kinda dissapointed that Sony ended with Spider-Man, was hoping for some megaton reveal.

That being said, Spider-Man looks real fucking good. Definitely makes me want to see more high quality Marvel games

Like, seriously, how the hell else would you accomplish scenes like this without QTEs? Platinum does QTE scenes like this all the time and people gobble it right up.
It could be done without a QTE. It's basically just passing through a hole, which shouldn't necessarily require doing it for the player. The only thing the game needs to intervene with is the animation Spider-Man performs, which could easily be done (games trigger animations at precise moments all the time!) If you screwed it up and didn't quite perform it right, swinging too high or low, or to either side and smacking into the crumbling sign, then you could still recover and continue the pursuit. The upshot is that you left the player in complete control the whole time.

Damn those visuals are fucking insane, anyone else feels like this is the next benchmark for open world visuals?

Can't believe Insomniac has surpassed GG.

Have to admit that I was disappointed by the actual gameplay, I'm not sure about the game having so many QTEs every minute.
