I'm quite sure it is going to suck. Every time it sucks, specially with Reggie saying it would be a great E3. The Pokemon Direct was just the appetizer.

I only remember a conference where they showed lots of games one after another, but the rest were just ok or simply bad and dissapoiting. The last years it has been crap after crap. Some people say the Sony conference was bad, but it will look good compared with what Nintendo does at E3 this year, at least they had games in the pre-show.

Last year the entire presentation was Zelda. The Treehouse is a different thing.

sarcasm right?

nintendo's been killing it at e3's ever since 2013.

Here's what I'm hoping for. I won't list games we already know about, such as ARMS, Splat2n, Xenoblade, or Mario. Basically anything we already know about, I won't include them in my wishlist.

My WishList

Super Smash Bros 5 - All new Smash, not a deluxe SSB4. We all know how big these games get. Don't waste resources on a port, work on a new one!
Fire Emblem - All new Fire Emblem. Could be another echos or a new storyline.
Uncharted Water 6 - This is such a wishful thinking game announcement, I'm not even sure of Tecmo Koei could recapture the magic of their glory days. Yeah, not happening.
River City Ransom Switch - Or any kind of brawler on Switch. I'm not sold on Dynasty/Fire Emblem Warriors. Koei sucks at action games.
PES - A return of the RTS style gameplay on the Switch. You can either use touch screen or use the joycon to direct the players.
Wave Race Switch - I think it's about time we get one of these.

And I'm pretty sure Nintendo's going to Win E3 today.

And...it won't be close

I love the last 12 hours before a direct. We all try to convince each other to lower expectations beforehand, yet last second all logic goes out the window.

I can't wait for a new and great Metroid game and Chrono game!

Huh? 2015 was fine.
Ehh...even as a big Nintendo fan, E3 2015 was abysmal. The only notable announcement I can think of was Star Fox Zero and we all know how that turned out. But, yeah, aside from that, their E3s have ranged from decent to good since 2013. Albeit I'd still keep my expectations tempered

For some, the need to connect the Switch to the phone for voice chat is totally aceptable, so I can understand people think like you.

Last year the entire presentation was Zelda. The Treehouse is a different thing.

Yeah and that is why it sucked. Compare this to, as I said, the amount of AAA games in the Sony conference. It is ridiculous to say that just maining Zelda is "killing it", and honestly, this year they will main Mario Odissey and not much more. Hell I doubt we even see Retro.

That year was garbage.

You want new Metroid? Here take Metroid Prime Federation Force!

Oh you hyped up for new Starfox? Here take this bland looking Starfox!

New HD graphics Animal Crossing guys! Except that it's a board game spin-off!

Wait you want one last announcement!? Take this Mario Rap instead!

Good news, guys:

Master Mummy has confirmed at least 2 MEGATONS

All the flavors in the world, and you chose salt.

Star Fox Zero turned out great.

That whole argument aside: 2015 was weird in that Nintendo upstaged its own presentation with the Nintendo World Championships event. Prior to the video presentation we received an exceptionally strong push for (the rebranded) Super Mario Maker, Ryu in Smash, and Shigesato Itoi showing up on video to present the official localization of the original Mother, EarthBound Beginnings. Blast Ball had people wondering whether Metroid Prime Hunters was back (and without nearly the toxicity that devoured the game when it was indeed revealed to be Federation Force).

People felt as though everything was crashing down in the 2015 presentation partly because Nintendo themselves had set expectations so high. Then we heard about one spin-off after another—Tri Force Heroes, Federation Force, Amiibo Festival and so on—and it was clear that we weren't going to see any of the redoubled commitment to the Wii U we received in 2014, and the platform wasn't long for this world. The positive announcements were mainly ports (Hyrule Warriors 3DS, leaked well in advance) or localizations (Fire Emblem Fates, marred by uncertainty and unclear messaging over the dual-release model at the time).

You just had Sony unveil an entire idea around people using their phones to interact with games. While not a 1 to 1 comparison it seems like Sony and Nintendo see no issue with tying phones to things

2015 was bad.

2014 was very good.

2013 was the real year where it was... fine, just had almost zero surprises (because of the January panic Direct) and the fact that Nintendo didn't have some surprise Wii U saving megaton seven months in caused a lot of people to act like it was awful.

Mario Maker was enough to make it one of the most memorable E3 for me. Just watching the levels screw with the players and seeing them trying to coop with the new twists was amazing. It really sold the game for me.

2013 was also the first time they contended with the stigma against a video presentation as "not showing up at E3". They also experienced stream troubles and, apart from the emergency January Direct, told everybody in advance that they would be talking about SSB, Mario Kart, and 3D Mario. Yes, we all knew those would come in some form (just like we know SSB will come to Switch eventually regardless of whether it shows up this week, or whether it's DX or SSB5), but in context, this strategy took a fairly competent presentation and made it look like an exercise in ticking boxes.

It's the only flavor when one sees Nintendo plans.

Obviously it is not a 1 to 1 comparison. One is a crappy game, the other is a crap put into all online games trying to solve problems from 15 years ago.

The actual presentations during 2015 were very good, maybe you didnt like all the announcements but nintendo put on a great show I felt.

That year was garbage.

Yall focusing on the negatives and perceived slights lmao.

metroid is irrelevant,(blame the market) AC needs to be on a handheld and starfox zero was fun to play.

Lots of great stuff came out in 2015 and the E3 that year was fun. I was really taken aback with the backlash online, but then again I could give two shits about metroid. It was absurd to me that people were going to bat on that "FUCKING DONKEYKONG" hill they all wanted to die on.

Pretty much.

And 2016 showed that you can "win" E3 with one game.

What leaked roster? The one saying Mario is releasing on Nov. 24? That is fake.

I think he was talking about MVC:I

Anyway, I stand by what I said. I think Nintendo wins E3. Given what the others have shown so far, it should not take much. Microsoft bumbled around with "exclusives," while Sony just regurgitated last year's stuff with closer release dates for the most part. EA had 1 game, maybe 2 and Ubisoft had 3-4, including Mario X Rabbids.

Can Nintendo top that? Yes. Will they? I believe they will, to the surprise of many.

I thought MS and Sony had good conferences overall with some weak parts. I doubt Nintendo will even touch them, there just won't be the breadth of content.

Yeah 2015 was pretty crap. Only thing I even remember from Nintendo's event were the puppets and Miyamoto rambling on about arches or whatever for like 10 minutes.

I'm sure their Treehouse coverage was fine though. Years kind of blend together, but Treehouse @ E3 has been consistently good.

So... anyone think Nintendo will hit it outta the park tomorrow? I'm on the fence myself, looking for a few unannounced things and hopefully something great from Retro. VC news would put me at ease... so far I think Ubi is taking E3 by storm. BGaE, RabbidsXMario...
teasers from upcoming games! I'll even take that!
