That's not a good response when you know people are going to start posting Guerilla gifs.

It's a valid question and the developers response to it leaves a lot to be desired when Guerilla handled it just fine. They could have turned it into a mechanic, cause too much destruction and citizens start to turn against you and other agents come out to take you down.
Considering they've said there is more elements of destruction in SP and it just isn't shown yet, then there's nothing much else to say is there.

People just choose not to listen, they'll come in and act outraged about this game and in reality, they don't give a toss and are jumping to conclusions.

I don't blame anyone for not knowing which node has destruction because their messaging is there's destruction but not the full destruction, but there's destruction like cars blowing up. It's confusing unless you're following the game closely.

They could clear this up with a proper demo showcasing what each mode allows, but they'd rather just talk about it and confuse the message even more.

And pop up a notification that the achievements for collecting orbs is no longer possible in this playthrough. That or mention a magic fairy that comes and rebuilds buildings overnight.

Trying to wrap my head around it. The SP mode has no destruction as was shown in the initial Crackdown 3 trailer, however MP does, because of the cloud?

It's not that hard to understand.
Online competitive : cloud, full destruction
Online co-op and single player : no cloud, standard destruction (probably on scripted locations)

Where are you getting standard destruction from in single player?

Unless I've missed something, they've been vague about the level of destruction in single player.

They've been vague but also stated in all interviews that there will be stuff to destroy. That's why I supposed it will be at least on scripted events, but in any case we know there is standard (not cloud-based) destruction in SP.

*edt - also S0L explicitly said it

It was our goal to do a proper Crackdown Campaign game and whilst we might not be dropping buildings, there is a hell of a lot of destruction in the game. I'm sure soon enough you'll see some of the new toys we've made let loose on the world, not least what happens when you destroy a street full of traffic.

It's a game where you collect orbs to power up, they could have gone down the magic fairy route and barely anyone would have batted an eye.

Hell, have the game rebuild everything whenever you save and quit, then they could do a SoD and say the world is still alive while you're not playing.

This seems like such an odd decision. But thanks.

It's very odd, you'd think they'd want the biggest stage to debut the most impressive part of the game, but I guess not...

I took that to mean vehicles and tiny structures like bus shelters, fences, etc, not buildings as most would assume when they hear there's destruction in single player.

They could clear this all up with a proper demo, but that'd be too easy.

No CD1 was a barren ugly game for its time.

I love the game, but let's be honest.

edit - In fact CD1 was suppose to be on the OG Xbox and it showed.

I disagree. The explosions and effects looks really nice, as did the draw distance and the lighting.

It had your typical texture downgrades for a openworld game, but I thought it looked good.

CD3 looks about as good as CD1 did, no sign of a 10 year gap in technology.

It's crazy to me that The new Spider-Man can look so good, open world (I think), but CDs singleplayer looks like a 360 game. Also so many open worlds between now and then look better than CD, on weaker hardware.

I'm glad he impressions are generally that the game is fun as hell...

Animation is a bit weak but other than that Crackdown is back. Graphics are fine too for a stylised game. Day Uno!

Really want to see the multiplayer though.

There are multiple occasions where they can show the MP. My guess is Gamescom. Probably not a press conference but I assume playable on the showfloor.

I just wonder what we'll exactly be doing in MP and if the destruction is still as impressive as before.

One of the many videos that get broadcasted these days, can't remember. Maybe the daily thing on Xbox.

Don't care for this game, but with regards to destroying buildings in SP, it might be a design decision.

Example: You blow up a building which might be an essential platform or trampoline in a later section of the game or you destroy a bridge that would have been the scene of a set-piece.

Destruction doesn't have to be permanent or they could have fortified certain buildings.

That wouldn't work. If u could level buildings in the campaign you could finish the game in a matter of a few hours. The problem u are trying to solve is an age old game design problem tht has no solution but head to head combat.

You could make it work by time or level gating the weapons that would allow you to blow up certain buildings. They don't allow you to destroy that shit because I'm sure the economics of creating multiple server instances just for one guy to get through the campaign makes no sense. The whole idea of using their power of the cloud to make up the difference was idiotic from the start.

While the trailer shown at the briefing did not look good, the videos they habe put out after the fact look so much better. Still excited for this.

Nice!

Again I'm not seeing how the graphics are bad, at all. The art sytle is cool to me :shrug

Looks like a Crackdown and that's fine. People have shit on the series' visuals since the first X360 game reveal, but I don't care. MS really made the wrong call for an E3 showing by not revisiting the promises of amazing destruction featured in the earlier MP demos.

Yeah, that's how I read it too.

You'll be able to destroy prop objects placed within the world, but not fixtures of the world itself. That larger structural destruction is exclusive to the PvP mode.

I still think that this game is salvageable, especially if the MP component is incredible, but so far this has to be my disappointment of the show.

I feel for the developers who are probably pouring their hearts and souls into the project, but I expected this to be one of the THE showcase games for MS this year and it really looks like a late-era 360 game that was ported over to the One with modest enhancements.

Granted, the gameplay is paramount, but I expected this to be a bigger leap in visuals and physics/complexity than what I first played over 10 years ago, and that simply doesn't seem to be the case based on what they have shown so far.

As always, I would love to be proven wrong when I'm disappointed in something, but I'm not hanging my hat on it.

This is the best thing i've seen for this game so far, nice find!

Makes me feel a tad bit better about it.

Definitely, but isn't it PC that they have at the show floor? Hopefully no reason to worry for the Xbox One X version though, because that story trailer did not look hot. And it did show gameplay bits.
