I don't include games that just had a titlecard reveal or that we haven't seen anything substantial of (so yes, MP4 and BG&E2).
1. Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle ; What both big upcoming Mario games have in common, is that they're pretty out there in terms of setting and mechanics. M+R is just the perfect storm. The idea sounds weird on paper, until you see it in motion and it's clear that this is a passion project on all levels. The rabbids gel pretty well with the Mario universe and seem a bit toned down, making the comedy work better than you'd think. Then there's the gameplay, which is the exact opposite of what you'd expect when you hear 'Mario + Rabbids crossover'. It's accessible turn based strategy that looks appealing even when you're not that familiar with the genre. It reminded me of what Pikmin did for RTS. It looks incredibly fun to play, and that's coming from someone who wouldn't touch an X-COM game normally.
2. Super Mario Odyssey ; This game convinces me that Nintendo will probably never run out of ways to reinvent Mario. Here the cap is at the center of everything and is both a weapon and a tool for exploration and experimention. The worlds are looking incredibly diverse, filled with little details and secrets to uncover.
3. Metroid: Samus Returns ; We're getting a new Metroid in september. Not only that, but it's a reimagining of the one major part of the series I've never played. It's good that the wait is only a couple of months out. Looks like the pure Metroid feel is intact, but I love some of the new additions like the melee counters. Will be satisfying to pull off on bosses!
4. Ori and the Will of the Wisps ; looks even prettier than the original
5. God of War ; the same... but different! Seriously, love how the new axe combat looks. Excited to play a GoW that not only focuses on fights, but tries to tell an actual story as well.
6. The Evil Within II ; TEW is one of my favorites of the last few years, couldn't be happier that we're getting a sequel.
7. Spider-man ; If we're getting the same visuals as this E3 demo when the game comes out... it'll be one of the prettiest open world games released yet. If the use of qte's is restricted, the webslinging feels great and the combat feels different enough from the Arkham games... then I'm on board.
8. Shadow of the Colossus ; I can't imagine anyone who played and loved the original not wanting this or being excited by it. Most of us thought that the only thing holding SotC back was its ambition and the PS2 hardware. The PS3 remaster fixed that, but now they're going the extra mile. Moreover, there's still going to be tons of people who never experienced this and now finally can. The only downside here, if any, is that everyone now expects ICO to get the same treatment. But SotC was always in far greater need of it and I'm so glad this exists. The one concern people have is that it needs feel exactly like Ueda's original take, so I hope Bluepoint gets obsessive over every detail to make this SotC, but prettier.
9. Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus ; TNO was one of the finest shooter campaigns I've ever played. Big shoes to fill here!
10. Knack 2 ; Knack 2 ain't no joke: platforming and combat looks great, levels are more varied. Playing this at launch.
x. Uncharted: The Lost Legacy ; looks great, but Uncharted 4 has made me very wary. I hope this team actually knows what makes the franchise work.
x. A Way Out
x. Cuphead
x. Ashen; cartoony Souls, bring it!
