Nex Machina |OT| Insert 80 Quarters

What does that mean?
When you're transitioning from one level to another, a narrowing circle / radius appears around your character. If you time the dash input correctly during this (when it's at its most narrow), you get a minor point bonus for it each time.

Yes, it's only 1,000 points but combine that with your multiplier and it soon racks up especially if you are consistent. It's not as hard as it first seems. Wait for the outer circle to line up with the inner circle till it looks solid. It kinda reminded me of active reload on Gears of War, ie; all in the timing.

This game throws a lot at you, and it's awesome.

I just realized last night that there's a little segmented meter over your character's head that shows how many boosts you have left.

THIS.

GAME.

You can do this at the end of worlds (after you beat a boss) as well.

There is but.. only one continue allowed to access it. You basically need an almost perfect run.
He's referring to the Supreme AI moon world I think - World 6. Rookie mode only goes to World 5 where The Architect is the final boss.

Is it only available from Experienced onwards? Any special requirement to access it?
Yeah it's experienced and upwards only for access to world 6, it'll take you there as soon as you drop The Architect, but if you finish Experienced without continuing you get something special.

Thanks! Time to move to Experienced then, I've been spending too much time in the Arenas. I'm excited to see that 6th world, but doing a full Experienced run without continuing... just nope lol

Damn it, Housemarque! I'm not that good... :(

Regardless, I hope this game performs well, commercially speaking, and we get lots of updates like we did with Resogun. I was so disappointed that Alienation basically bombed and we didn't get much post-launch content.

Yeah it's tough for sure. Best I could get to was the beginning of world 6. Gotta keep practising! I think HispanicGuy has done it. Dude is a beast.

I've done Experienced and Veteran 1cc so far. Shit is not easy. I know of a few others who have done the same.

What I need to work on is my human combo (and secrets in general). I get too caught up with just trying to survive that I forget so many.

When it comes to saving humans, I much prefer it here than Resogun. I couldn't for my life get the hang of it. Grabbing them and taking them to the ship was frustrating for me. Here, it's just a matter of walking to them.

Things might seem overwhelming right now but you'll be surprised at yourself once you get into that zone. Play each world individually so you become familiar with it. One of the things you should try to find are the extra lives. Don't forget your dash! It recovers very quick so make use of it. Triple Dash is a lifesaver as well. Dash Explosion makes you feel a little safer, too.

Played some Master last night. The farthest I've gotten is World 5. I might have to tape my eyelids open just so I don't blink and die, lol.

Talking about extra lives, are they always hidden in the same place or is it completely random?

From my experience on Experienced (ha..ha), they're always at the same spot and I expect it stays the same for higher difficulties. Only those green bugs change location afaik.

^ thanks

I cleared the game on rookie to get a feel for ir. I think rookie in Resogun was much tougher...now for the real game to begin.

I'm always impressed with Housemarque's ability to design a game that immediately seem impossible, but allows you to slowly develop your skills to make the impossible achievable.

Resogun was similar.

It is not a case that you mentioned 2 games by the same director Harry Kruger.
I already touched the topic earlier in this thread: the director behind a game has its weight and deserves some Kudos even if by western trend the collective name Housemarque is the one that counts.
But as Alienation was somehow a flawed experience (by another director) Kruger deserves even more acknowledgment for his terrific work

I definitely enjoy the frenetic arcade stuff more than the other, slower paced, top down twinsticks. Do we know who the lead on Matterfall is? I doubt the same person would tackle two games so close together. While it doesn't look quite as frenetic, it looks to capture a lot of the same spirit as Resogun and Nex Machina.

Been a terribly busy week so haven't got much time with it but I just finished level 2 for the first time and man... what a gem this game is. Absolutely in love with it.

Finished one Arena with Gold last night and.,. Got the trophy for having 9 golds??

Regarding Matterfall: I could not be more hyped. It's looking like the perfect Housemarque cocktail.

Director behind Outland is helming Matterfall, if memory serves.

Has anyone else a problem with feats not unlocking? In particular the speed and high score ones don't seem to unlock for me for most worlds, no matter which mode I play.

I'm pretty sure Turric... MatterFall is by a new director. Harry was busy with Jarvis since 2015 I guess. No way he had time to follow another project. I know he had to rush NexMachina too. A photomode was also in the plans but cut due to time restraint

That would be Aki Raula if i remember it right.

Nope, Outland was by Kruger. I spent a night with him in Helsinki years ago and he explained to me that Outland was his dream Project of mixing Treasure game-mechanics in one. If i recall correctly. MAYBE they were co-directors?

This happened to me as well, got the trophy for getting 3 bronze golds after obtaining the first one

Man, this final boss (World 6) without Power ups is fucking impossible, had to give up after I don't know how many attempts :(

Any tips?

Finally noticed the bonus you get when ending a level with a perfectly timed dash 🙈 Only took me 5 hours.

The only reason I figured it out was because I was looking at the trophies lol.

Its not hard to time at all, but I always forget because I take those moments to catch my breath for a sec lol

Make sure you have a rocket launcher and fight her from across the map. This boss is super hard without power ups though. Took me like 20 tries the other day without powerups and just 1 try earlier with powerups when I got the 1CC. You'll get it, keep trying.

That includes Golds for feats too, so you may have met a few requirements and/or picked up a couple on the playing field during your run. (unless they are bronze ones on the battlefield).

Quintendo is a bad, bad man

Dude is top in everything, dude must be a machine or something.. he's like wario64 they ain't real.

I think I saw his name on the "recent players" on PSN Profiles the other day and he had just got the Platinum. Problem with that site is there are apparently a lot of bullshit trophy artists with hax so it's hard to just know who to believe.

While that is true in some cases, he has been a regular poster on the Housemarque discord, talking with the devs, participating in the beta etc. He's legit.

This game takes Resogun and Assault Android Cactus, blends them up and cooks them down into an intense voxel madness syrup. Easily one of the best games I've played so far this year.

You know that Housemarque and Eugene Jarvis met on the Assault Android cactus stand ?? true story ..I think it was at PAX
