The Kart races are fantastic when you're with the right group.

I just had a race where the 3 of us out in front all finished within a second of each other. Great fun.

Completely agree. I was in the top 3 pack and we went back and forth with a lot of nice, clean overtakes, and the winner (not me unfortunately) wasn't decided until the third-to-last turn (I should have been more aggressive).

Had a real blast with and a clean race in the last Kart race. Finally a decent placement!

Kinda feel bad for the guy I dueled for 3rd place, he fucked up at the last turn :(

I feel like a crazy person, because I don't hate the default hood-cam. It's butt-ugly, but it feels good for dealing with crowds of cars.

I've been swapping back and forth between hood/cockpit depending on track/race conditions. That BB track yesterday was all hood, all the time.

Hit right on the mfd and you get a traffic radar like Daytona, guys. That's what I've been using for my blind spots.

Yeh but it comes with all the other HUD paraphernalia that I don't want/need.

I hope there's a way to fully customise what you want to display from the HUD in the full game.

You can import SVG's for the livery editor.

It's true the HUD is a huge clusterfuck. They need to get it customizable. Of course this is just the kind of thing they leave unfixed for years.

I was able to finally fire it up yesterday when I got home. The control is good. The car models and tracks, except for the 2d peeps, look great on the PS4 Pro. So I configured the HDR when it loaded and the lighting on the cars and tracks looks fantastic, but the light on the trees during the evening setting did not look right. It made them look kind of cell shaded, just without the thick black outlines. It wasn't too off-putting but made me drive from the cockpit view most of the time. I think it is a solid game though. Not sure I'm convinced to get it just yet. I'm still on the fence between it and Forza 7. I would have grabbed Forza 7 if it was not for the prize crate/credit fiasco. I think I'll see which is on sale on Black Friday. All in all, I think it will be a critical and financial success for Sony and PD.

Man, I forgot to mention this. It was annoying as heck that I could not look at the options. On a positive when I got booted it did not take me long to actually get it loaded back up and get back in.

Demo has a livery editor. But you can only use shapes and stickers at the moment.
So you use layers. There are tons of shapes, and a color picker. You stack them to create what you want.

The full game will allow you to import (upload via website) your own images though.

Maybe I'm mixing GT up with another racing game, but weren't you able to bind HUD options to the controller to hide/show it whenever you wanted in GT5 and GT6?

You can import SVG's for the livery editor.

Not with that one though. The guy on GTplanet mentioned his brother put it together in the livery editor using 150 layers.

Bloody hell.

Why bother when in the full game you'll just be able to import the whole thing in a ready made state?

Well, on some level I think GT fans have been super thirsty for a livery editor for years now so they're just taking advantage of it even though there will be an easier solution once the game is out.

This is my first time with GT and the first thing I noticed is the horibble horrible soundtrack. Is there a way to select tracks or just turn the music off? I can't seem to find the option.
That 'We are the champions' tune is the cringy'est thing ever.

Just had an absolutely clean race from pole and lead the whole race. That got me a 50% clean race prize money bonus.

There's also an achievement tied to Sport mode clean races. Have 1 in that now, need 15 to complete level 3 of the achievement...

You mean the awesome soundtrack? :p

You can turn off menu and in race and replay BGM individually, you can also go into the library and select/unselect individual tracks.

Oh, wow. Ok, I'm all over that. Some of the soundtrack I really love, but there's some absolute hot garbage in there.

It's like 3/4 stuff I actively dislike, and comes across as pretty random, but there's a song in there that sounds like a remix off a Wipeout XL track, which I adore. It's not, but it's just close enough to trigger the memory.

As vector formats go, I see a lot of compatibility issues at work. It's fine, it's just a filetype that lets you embed things that cause issues.

How so? SVG is a universal format. The only time issues arise are when people don't export the SVG as raw.

Enjoyed the time I spent with the game last night. I'll probably eventually play through the single player content, but I'm not an online racer. (due to time mostly)

Hopefully the visuals get a few upgrades/tweaks once out of Beta. I don't know what some people are smoking, but during actual gameplay the moments the game is rough looking far outweigh the moments it looks good. Anything more than like 20 yards from your car is pretty messy. It's really noticeable when you're looking ahead to hit corners.

Now in the scapes and replays...the game does look really nice. The handling isn't too bad, and I was happy with the sound of the cars. The "guttural" sound seems to be a little lacking on my Mustang, but it sounds much better than previous games.

Haven't had a chance to pull my PNGs, but I took random shots during the driving tests and my first race if one wants to see where my thoughts come from.

Edit** Open these full-res (new tab) on a computer/big-screen if you want to see what it looks like.

This stuff really sticks out on 50" 4k screens. I actually moved from my 4k to my 40" 1080p and things aren't as distracting.

Not at all what I did...not even close. I literally took random shots purposefully in case anyone said that. Those are literally the very first screenshots I took while playing the game for the first time. I'm sure I could take amazing shots, but I'd have to find those moments.

My first shot I took was LITERALLY the very first track and impression you get playing the game on the drivers test track.

My Mustang, for example, looks amazing in the waiting screen at the beginning. The scapes look great. The gameplay during an actual race is another story, period.

However, like I said...I've only played the game for a few hours...and I've yet to race a track that has the lighting angles that look really nice. Like the low sun shots I've seen. My impressions will probably change if those moments look great.

The screens you picked are from the middle of flat roads, with the sun directly overhead, and there are only two visible cars in one of your shots. Those aren't exactly flattering conditions for a screenshot.

If you're looking for better results, get some cars in the shot, or use the interior view, or get a shot with the sun lower in the sky so you can get some visible shadows.

Heh, I know the track you're talking about. I'll look up the name the next time it comes up.

Apart from the livery editor and tuning, will the full game allow us to fit performance/cosmetic parts to cars?
