Eurogamer why our Starfield: review will be late (DF unaffected and will be on time)

Dont blame them really. After that dudes bullshit comments about Hogwarts legacy on twitter fuck giving them extra coverage. Plenty of decent reviewers have had copies for over a week now, so its not as if Bethesda are hiding anything, they probably just dont want to give bullshit sites the attention.

I agree that review code should definitely have been provided to Eurogamer, Edge, SkillUP and Metro. These are MC/OC mainstays and many are respected voices in the industry. Bethesda is notoriously petty but MS needs to put a stop to this.

That said, it does seem like you’re weaving a hilarious narrative from this about paid reviews 😀

DF now needs to take photos with Nintendo and Sony execs before we take them serious 🤡
Do you really think they aren't biased? That clown emoji suits you if you really think so.

First there was tilegate

Then there was ladder gate

Loading gate

Now we must go with reviewbiasgate

I've never seen so much Weight put into the UK as this generation. Can't work out if I'm proud or not.

Weekly uk sales charts...the CMA and now reviewgate
Is the tile thing wrong? I could be misinformed , so if you could clarify - that would be great! I have seen the clips on reddit and the planets don't actually exist. It's just random tiles when you land on them. There is zero continuity between them. Is that wrong?

Publishers can send review copies to whoever they want and don't have to explain themselves.
Disagree. That way leads to chummy positive reviews and a cultivated ‘pet’ journalistic culture. People will think twice about criticising companies for fear of losing access. A free press is vital and I think all registered publications should receive a code if requested.

That goes for all publishers.

I know some platform warriors love to shriek about them being biased.

I also know there’s no hard evidence behind this, they frequently review games that perform worse on the Xbox platform and they certainly aren’t fans of the Series S.

You seem to love your conspiracy theories, though.

I'm glad euro gamer didn't get a code in time. Their articles are terrible. Eurogamer got bent and I love it.

Bethesda UK has some shenanigans where even pro BGS youtubers and websites didn't get the code.

But yeah, Zenimax (not MS) is known for being vengeful, but having a issue where one part of UK reviewers get and another one doesn't get with the details above means they have fucked up something.

is it really when you get invited to so many hardware and software previews?
But these things aren't mutually exclusive. Let's just say that MS really did fly one of the largest video game tech focused youtube channels to preview their game (as apposed to them meeting up at gamescom). This does not imped DF's ability to report what they see, it's not sponsored content.

Then Microsoft flew Richard, Alex, and John, and asked them to share an "early impression."

Which is essentially this.

Absolutely unethical and ridiculous!
I would normally agree, but the transparency of this whole thing seems high profile, and along with the dropping of parity features on Series S requirements by Xbox, and factoring in how weak a rumoured PC is required to get 60fps, I suspect this is actually to be a big surprise of a day one patch for the Series X bringing the game in with a performance mode, and Richard is getting the exclusive and they want to be sure there is no way for it to leak - outside people guessing.

Free press that boycott a game for political reasons worth nothing. The day the gaming critics treated Hogwarts Legacy like a leper is the day they announced they are unprofessional and should get no empathy, at least not from me.

Watched another interview with Todd today and he mentions how he dislikes clickbaity websites, which us why he chose Noclips Danny o Dwyer for the docs he did

Lmao KidSmoove got a code but SkillUp didn’t, are they tryna pump the MC scores up?
You can still bump up OC and MC scores up or down regardless if you got a early copy or not. That is assuming the website is willing to spend their own money on purchasing a copy and writing a review and publishing it. That is what we are doing, so our score will still influence the critic score average.

Not suspicious at all nope

I mean Eurogamer blows, but marquee titles should be everywhere for reviews.

No, that seems to be correct. You basically have a tiled space you can explore with points of interest. It's not free walking forever but it takes like 10 full minutes to walk from one end to another. The tiles are large.

Ah yes, the surefire sign of being a paid reviewer. Getting invited to preview events.
And this photo was from Gamescom anyway

How is Richard getting an 'exclusive' when PC review codes were provided to outlets that will certainly do their own benchmarks?

He is getting an exclusive because they said anyone else from eurogamer can't use it, and he has guidelines to follow

When you get to the see the next gen xbox series x and disassemble it almost 1 year before launch it is,
Even if it's not paid it's that it has an impact because you want to keep the "good relationship"

So they'll have a patch ready that could improve performance on the X, and they won't push it to reviewers to potentially improve review scores? Instead reserve it to give DF an 'exclusive'?

This made sense to you and Bernoulli Bernoulli ?
DF have 1M subs IIRC and they are very influential, giving them the definitive say and making them the voice to dispel any review criticism about 30fps would seem like a good strategy IMO, and would certainly make the change of stance over "creative choice" disappear like it never happened.

DF have a big platform that gets info out there to promote games, even if I'm not a fan of Richard's shilling in the 360 gen.

Look, Eurogamer have been utterly stupid and the whole Hogwarts Legacy debacle is what led me to never visit their site again.

But just because you don't like the view of one press outlet and are happy to see them suffer (and in this case wronged) doesn't make it right or healthy for society. One day it might be an outlet or personality that you like. I bet you'd be angry then, wouldn't you?

I don’t care about the publication - I care about the reviews.

That's exactly why you have to rejoice and take the wins when they come. Eurogamer will have what they see as their win when they give this a 3/5.

Eurogamer, VG247 and RockPaperShotgun have all been shitting on the game in their articles for months.

Bethesda apparantly also has an issue with the parent company of all these websites, ReedPOP.

What that issue is, we don't know.

But when VG247 writes shit like this in their articles

Who can blame them?
The same company owns Eurogamer and Digital Foundry.

Anyway, it seems strange it's only UK being affected.
