That'd be kind of messed up if people are just making posts in the thread without any actual merit just for the purposes of making sure Cajunator won.

I still have several stuff to watch, I'll be sure to do my best to post as much about them as I can.
For Cajun!
It's a great first movie to a great series. Though, admittedly, the one directly following it happens to be my favorite of all 15 of them (16 in April).Hello, AnimeGaf.
So, I'm not a huge anime fan, my interest basically lived and died with Toonami/Adult Swim.
For some reason, I decided to use the new Xbox 360 Youtube App, and decided to search Case Closed, one of my favorite memories from the CN days. I watched the first CC movie, and thought it was pretty awesome. Lot of great things I remembered from the show were in there.
So, I've come to learn that somehow the show is still going on today, but I was more curious to know what Gaf's take on the show is, and how did you all feel about the first movie?

This sounds pretty close to firehawk12's view that because SHAFT are making fun of fanservice, it's okay for them to fill their shows full of smut. It seems like lots of people are willing to make strange, logic bending excuses for SHAFT. I'm not sure what they've done to achieve such trust from their fanbase.SHAFT and director Akiyuki Shinbo get a pass here for their frequent fan-service and inappropriate nudity because, while it always makes you feel dirty, theres an element of class that overpowers the guilt.
Hunter x hunter 19
Pretty dark stuff for such an upbeat show. Maybe I should read the manga. Really liking all the mind game stuff vs the usual dbz punching for a few eps.
I rewatched the first episode of Nadesico because of Rinne no Lagrange. The opening is so great:

And the ending song was pretty lovely: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q0uF3glbMqo
I will rewatch the entire show after Kamichu!, even the February was the 00s anime month for me.

You've repeatedly mentioned Nadesico when discussing Rinne no Lagrange, but perhaps you could clarify what you feel links these two works? Bare in mind that I haven't seen Nadesico, although I keep meaning to sit down and watch it because I hear it discussed so often.
Best Gundam Indeed.Mobile Suit Gundam: The 08th MS Team
THIS SHOW WAS ABOUT TO TROLL ME. BUT IT DIDN"T.
THE BEST.

Her best quality is her dialogue, and the talented actress who delivers those lines. SHAFT doesn't deserve any credit for that![Senjougahara]

Nadesico is somewhat similar (genre-wise), but is considerably more parody than Rinne. I'd say Nadesico is the better of the two though, so you should definitely check it out.
Also Hi Anime-Gaf.
Symphgear 6
This show is kind of terrible. Even the action rarely looks good, and every other aspect of the show is pretty bad. The dialogue in particular is generally stupid, making the characters unlikeable. Lots of yuri though.
Her punch at the end was totally ripped from Big O.

I've never played Gundam Vs. (bizarrely) so I don't quite understand why it would annoy people. Does it have a cheap move, perchance?Gouf Custom makes people salty in Gundam Vs. Gundam
You know, I pretty heavily criticized the fact that they, but now it's almost the main reason that I keep watching becauserevealed in the first episode that Hibiki would die at the end of the series. Nothing in Symphogear feels particularly inspired or well-executed to me, butI want to see how everything goes to absolute shit in the next few episodes.there's still that to look forward to
What about the voice director? A talented actress can still deliver a flat character, and a good director can change that.
You're quite correct, those are vital too. I'm just too busy trying to stick the knife in them for their animation and consistency problems.SHAFT doesn't play a role in casting? You know, I think casting voice actors might be the one thing they actually do consistently well.
Good evening. We certainly seem to getting a few juniors popping by this week. Few of them stay for the long haul (unsurprisingly).

Everyone loves shaft, they just don't want to admit it.Quite. Don't know how long I'll hold out here either as my favorite Gundam series was X. Also, I'm unable to join in in the Anime-GAF SHAFT hatred because, for some misbegotten reason, I rather enjoyed Tsukuyomi Moon Phase.

So you're starting a mutiny against the monocles and coming over to the mustaches?

In Gundam EXVS, each team has a gauge that determines the amount of times their suits can respawn before losing. Each suit also has an associated cost, with higher cost units usually having stronger weaponry, superior mobility, more health, etc. Team gauges are 6000 points shared between the two players. Suit costs go from 3k, 2.5k, 2k and 1k.I've never played Gundam Vs. (bizarrely) so I don't quite understand why it would annoy people. Does it have a cheap move, perchance?
Poor SHAFT, can't get a break. Everyone hates on them, and all they do is make smutty shows about overage lolis.

It's not like I hate SHAFT, at all, I've certainly watched enough of their shows to consider myself 'a fan' of their works. However, that doesn't mean I'm just going to accept whatever they throw at me without first considering it's worth.

Gouf is a 1k unit. However, with relatively little effort he can be exceptionally effective. His cost efficiency is pretty skewed, and it makes him very annoying to take down because you'll have to fight him, at worst, 5 times.

I think that the only SHAFT show that I ever actively disliked was Maria+Holic Alive. All the rest have run the gamut from "this is pretty okay" to "IT CHANGED MY LIFE". They've found the perfect balance between classy and trashy, though they've gone slightly overboard with the latter in Nisemonogatari.
If you don't mind me asking, why did you never pursue an interest beyond it's appearances on your television? I only ask because a large generation of people grew up watching, say, Dragon Ball or Gundam Wing on TV but lots of those people didn't embrace the wider anime market. With anime not even appearing on TV anymore I wonder how this will affect the wider fandom in the long-run.
Did you have no desire to hunt anything else down? Was it too much effort to locate? Did you just watch these shows because they were convenient?
Oh, right, that makes sense. I guess I was right, somewhat, he sounds pretty cheap. I'm glad that the suits strong though - it actually matches the way its displayed in the show!
I avoid disliking SHAFT shows by not watching the ones I know I won't. It works out pretty well.
I wish I could do the same for noitaminA.
But how do you know you won't if you haven't tried and don't know?
You can't call yourself a SHAFT fan without eviscerating them for the stuff they fail completely at. Those who don't are just posers.
So you agree with me that Soredemo is garbage? Finally I've found another SHAFT bro who accepts the fact that not all SHAFT shows are gold.
