If you smash down on the touch screen hard enough, it clicks. Zoom function in Metroid Prime 4 confirmed.

I know bp is a he, it was a pathetic attempt (again) to be funny (against him) :p
When i move in the US, i'll need some comedy courses

Step 1: Never watch anything Dane Cook related.

At least then he would confirm they were analog sticks rather than circle pads. That's still very, very slightly new info that would make some happy.

There's no way I'm catching up on the last 10 pages of this like IdeaMan. I'll just go with RMC's summary and call it read.

Edit: Actually, did ShockingAlberto say something about Ace Attorney?

Something like that should wait for the conference.
Even though I can't seem them presenting the tablet and going, "hey look we have put sticks now"

It'd be better if Nintendo didn't mention sticks at all, but barely showed them. That way we'd get core gamers pointing them out over and over again.

Maturity, bitches.
You left out the dual part.

DUAL FUCKING D-PADS.

I don't like the wording here. 30FPS max would actually be absolutely terrible since it would mean that the average is below 30FPS. It's not a big deal, put I'd prefer you say "locked at 30FPS".

Sorry about the OCD. :p

What renders on the pad probably wonn't be as important as on the main screen or need as good response time. Though you would hope the pad wont have any screen tearing either because it would be very obvious on a small screen.

Hey guys, just wanted to come in and say my bit about the 3DS game I'm teasing.

I'm not talking about it on GN outside of the messageboards. I'm just talking with followers on Twitter.

With that said, it's not some secret ploy to drudge up traffic. That's why I'm just chatting on Twitter and not on the main site. I happened to randomly find out about this game just last night. I was genuinely excited and wanted to share.

I'm also not trying to hype things up beyond belief. It's a third party game for 3DS from a well known company. I also happen to be a big fan of the franchise. I believe a good amount of you guys are as well. It's a brand you guys all know.

I reached out to the company involved to see if I could do some sort of official tease on GN. If I am allowed to do that, I promise to come share the info here at the same time.

Finally, don't take all this talk as some sort of massive, hugely unexpected reveal. It's not a megaton by any means, but it is what I consider to be a notable title. Hope that makes things more clear.

I'm strictly talking about the two cases of the Wii U third-parties projects i know.

The content rendered on the DRC was at roughly 30 fps, considering it was also the same framerate for the TV. I doubt they will have a 30fps+ view on the main display then 60fps of another view on the padlet. V4 dev kit context & all, so the situation has changed since, but i think the framerate is a given, they will use the increased resources tapped from 5+ sources of optimizations/changes to make the title shinier.

You have to say "average". Saying "max" implies that the normal frame rate is around 20.

Well me personally I told a certain poster that I was going to give him the benefit of the doubt until E3 so I might as well do it with all the other "prophets" as well.

Basically I got tired of playing bad cop and decided to try and enjoy the rest of the ride.

Give this man a cookie ! :D

What i wanted to mean is that they set the framerate of the DRC content at 30 fps, and with the resources they got at the time, it wasn't possible to draw much framerate for it. Hence "30 fps max is a given" > "they couldn't go higher".

Thanks for making me rewording my sentences, there will be even less hypothetical misunderstandings :)

Maybe all the images they show look like shit, but the one below is definitely not anything I have seen on any game till now:
It would also be completely possible to make an UE3 demo that went beyond anything in any game now, if they were developing it for the same hardware used for the UE4 demo.

If that's what most third-party developers flock to in two years then yes it does.
If the Wii U's been out 1.5 years and developers/publishers give so little shit about releasing games on it that they're clamoring to move to a new incompatible engine, it will already have failed in that regard.

Hey, I'm guessing most of you all had Wii's; would it look better to play Wii games on a CRTV or a HDTV. Only reason I ask is I remember playing some older consoles on HDTV's, and I thought they didn't look as hot.
Well, you've set up a bit of a false dichotomy there. Probably the best-looking option for Wii would be an HD CRT. From shortly before Wii's launch until about a week ago I was using one that supported 480p and 1080i. I got that set specifically because I knew for a few years I'd be using a heavy mix of low and high resolution content. My new 1080p LCD is great for HD/3D, but low resolution stuff sticks out much more.

But exclusives and first party games will set the tone.

Why would gamers that traditionally buy the other systems flock to Nintendo over systems that will be more powerful that play those games they are used to???
Price, year of unavailability for the others. Two of the things that helped X360 get a foothold in the "traditional PlayStation" market I guess.

I'm assuming you're talking about a situation where both, the TV screen and the DRC screen are being used at the same time, right?

if not.. well... that's... low =/

Exactly. Both Galaxy games are platforms, while Mario 64 is more an adventure. All of them are great in their own way, although I prefer the Galaxy style. However, to change things up a bit, I'd like more if next 3D Mario was more a big, open adventure. Especially since all latter ones (Galaxy 1/2, NSMB 1/2/Wii and 3D Land) are linear and mostly platform-based. I already miss 64 and Sunshine style.
I couldn't disagree more with you guys. SM64 is a mission based platformer. The fact that you're tasked with mission objectives kinda makes some people say its adventure heavy. But its not, because adventure games are primarily about exploration and discovery. Mario 64 is still primarily about getting from point A to B on a platform based obstacle course. Replay levels like Tick Tick Clock, Rainbow Ride & Tiny Huge Island. Yes there's more variety in game-play compared to traditional Mario games, but the bulk of the challenge still comes from making those platform jumps.

Banjo Kazooie and Conker are adventure games with a little platforming.

Some people want them to move on from the Galaxy games.

My take is: How can you move on from such a wonderful template after just two games???

I've linked an article from Galaxy director basically saying that the next 3D Mario on Wii U won't be a sequel, won't be from this setting.

Don't know where it is, thread 3 or 4 i guess

Looking at the Bird Demo again, I think I may have found another difference between the press conference and floor demo versions.

I noticed that the quickly flapping wings of the little bird were translucent on the floor demos. I thought this might be some kind of artistic effect to simulate motion blur. But just watching the direct feed again, they are always opaque. I'm wondering though, if the effect is just a artifact of filming the demo off-screen? If TV frames are being merged into one on the camera recording? I've also seen this happen with the bats in the Zelda demo.

I don't know. What do you guys think it is I'm seeing?

We're saying the same thing lol. It's running at around 30FPS most of the time. That's what you're trying to say, right?

That's promising. The Galaxy games have far less replay value than Mario 64 or Sunshine. I went back to play some Galaxy 2 and it was more an exercise in redundancy than anything. Playing Sunshine though still has so many possibilities. I can get to the goal any number of ways. Plus there's just so much to screw around with.
