I guess I should have saved my Wii (instead of selling it in a combination frustration over the quality of Skyward Sword/Xenoblade never coming out... and then only a few weeks after I sold it, Xenoblade is announced for NA. Damn you trollin' me Nintendo!), since how am I going to transfer the insane amount of VC shit I purchased to my Wii U now

Payback for all the Nintendo trolling you did.
But as an answer, you may try contacting Nintendo and seeing what they say. I've heard previously in certain circumstances they are able to put VC stuff on a new Wii console without having the original one with all the content licensed. Like if someone's Wii got stolen or whatever. Might not work but probably worth a few minute phone call.
I think you're SOL in that case
My issue is that my Wii has corrupted system files due to a power surge, so I'd have to pay $80 to fix my Wii just to transfer VC games over to Wii U.

Wii VC compatibility sounds pretty awful on the Wii U anyways. Last I heard there was no tablet support for visuals and you have to start up in "Wii mode" to run the games which sounds like you're running the Wii OS.

well that's ok about the screen controller, because if I'm in my house I'm playing it on the TV. That functionality really has no use for me at all even for the regular games. But the "Wii mode" thing sounds pretty lame. Even VC games need that, not just the disc based games?
Last I heard. I hope I'm wrong.
Does anyone remember the initial Wii allotment?
I'm suspecting:
NA: 1 million
Europe: 1 million
Japan: 500,000
I hope they ship more so I can debate how shipping the most ever is NOT under shipping. If they drop so few, it will be mass hysteria come this holiday when none can be found in stores.

In NA:
Wii: ~500k launch (~1.1 million all of 2006)
360: ~325-350k launch (~600k all of 2005)
PS3: ~200-250k launch (~700k all of 2006)
It sold 476K in November 2006 which should be a pretty good approximation of the launch number.I can only find a figure of four million shipped worldwide by the end of 2006. Japan received 400,000 units.

I looked for the December 2006 numbers as well but for some reason I can't find that NPD thread.

Does anyone know if there are still any DX systems still available for pre-order anywhere? I hadn't know about the Nintendo-Amazon feud so I was mistakenly waiting for their pre-orders to start. I have been checking around but everyone seems to be sold out.
:/There are no DX preorders available anywhere. You'll be lucky to find any basic units available at this point. Lots of stores will tell you to check back in later but I have a strange feeling that you'd end up waiting until the second shipment and who wants to do that?

No, I am sure that is not how it is going to work. I guess we will know when they announce something.I want to know how they expect people who still have their Wii to do it. Assuming it works just like the 3DS, do they really expect me to hook up the two systems to two separate TVs and keep going between them to get this transfer thing going. How annoying. I thought Nintendo said Wii U is going to account based logins.

Why would you need two separate tvs?
The Wii U has its own screen, and as far as we know, can be booted up to the menu without being connected to a TV.
Quick question guys
I preordered from Toys R Us online last week. It said that they would put an autorization hold on my account, I cheked out with paypal. So after a week no activity has happened in my bank account. My paypal account does show the transaction. So is this hold just for closer to the launch or when exactly. I really don't have that amount in my account just now, but by that time I will...Am I screwed?
I assume that the wii u will have to be in wii mode to do the transfer. That would mean you couldn't use the second screen. I'd be happy to be proven wrong.

i am all set for the xfer, we have 2 wii's- a black without GC ports and an original white one with GC ports. and have a deluxe wiiu ordered
one wii does not have ANY VC games(the black one), the other does(and wiiware stuff), we are initially- going to put the wiiu where the black wii is (my son's bedroom) which is hooked up to a 720p tv, and xfer the wii vc games to the wiiu.
then once we get an HDTV for the living room (we have 4 HD tv's in the house, just not one in the living room) the wiiu will go into the living room, the black wii will go back into my son's room and all will be fine. the wiiu in the living room means -barring interference- the gamepad will be <30' from every bed in the bedrooms and ~20' on the first floor from every room- the wiiu will be almost centered in the house when it is in the living room..
No link, but the second month was about 604K.Tom_Cody said:It sold 476K in November 2006 which should be a pretty good approximation of the launch number.

I don't see why that would be. It's not like there's any existing Wii->Wii transfer ability it would be using.suaveric said:I assume that the wii u will have to be in wii mode to do the transfer. That would mean you couldn't use the second screen. I'd be happy to be proven wrong.

Not defending Nintendo or anything but, doesn't your TV have more than one input? I still have my old CRT from 2005 and it has the components. I would have assumed I could just switch inputs to do the transfer.I want to know how they expect people who still have their Wii to do it. us canadians are not crazy for gaming i guess, here u can still pre-order delux/basic one.
Good to know. I'll be buying up preorders from Canada lololoo
Just kidding. How crazy does Canada get during holiday shopping season? Do you guys have a Black Friday?
Could an American buy from an online Canadian retailer then?
