Nin-Network Acct locked to system it was made on [Upd: Customer Service can't help]

No known options for changing the link or associating it with another console? There's gotta be a way since it's just a number bound to another number in their system. This totally seems fixable or adjustable, even if it has to go through some hoops with Ninty account management.

Come on guys there has to be a way to switch NiNID's between consoles.

It may not be simple, but not impossible.

Nintendo doesn't have the tools setup yet, but on the system transfer FAQ on their website they say they're looking into it. So presumably something will come along next year.

Can I Log Into My Nintendo Network Account on a Different Console?
Answer:

-No, you cannot. A Nintendo Network Account can only be used on the console where it was created. In the future, you will be able to use your Nintendo Network Account with future Nintendo consoles and other devices, such as PC's.

-Currently, the Wii U supports up to 12 individual Nintendo Network ID's per console, which enables each member of the family to have his or her own unique identity on the system.

:O

Ahahaha

No. They already said they'll allow you to access your account from other devices so clearly things are linked to the account not the system. All this means is that at the moment, you can't log into the same account on different systems, which sort of makes sense. How would they handle downloaded content on the system memory?

Err, the same way Sony and MS and basically everyone else handle it?

Not to be a downer, but it says "future consoles and other devices" with no mention of other Wii U consoles.

I presumed Patrick was missing something. This is idiotic.

Major overreaction to something that can probably be resolved with a simple phone call.. :S

As long as there's a way, no problem. Still sounds a bit archaic, upfront, compared to the competition not just on console but everything with accounts these days. If it keeps hacks and stolen accounts to a super-minimum, it could be nice, though there's nothing wrong with adopting two/three-step verification process for floating accounts.

Nintendo is taking it from all sides with this system. Holy cow.

Yeah, I love calling Sony and Microsoft to log into my accounts on other systems. Oh wait, I don't have to do that because those companies got accounts corrects 6+ years ago.

Having to make a phone call for something like this is legitimately ridiculous. Scratch that. It was ridiculous when the same thing applied to the Wii. I'm not even sure what this is.

Are you guys overreacting a bit here? I guess I'm more of a casual gamer, but I pretty much never login as my own account on someone else's system.

As for the social network, it sounds like you can use the iPhone (and maybe 3DS?) in the future...

This is a problem. I hope they change this in the future.

Just got confirmation from Giant Bomb.
