Uncharted 4 being teased?

Bring on Uncharted4 Naughty Gods. I loved Drake's Deception and thought the revamped hand-to-hand combat was a lot of fun. One item on my wishlist is to keep expanding on that gameplay element.

We all know that Naughty Dog is working on Uncharted 4 for the PS4, the question is if it will be a launch title or not.

I'll just quote myself from a different thread...

I'd argue that only Drake's Fortune has "redundant puzzles" seeing as Drake's journal literally spells out the answer; it's more of a generous hint guide in Among Thieves and Drake's Deception, making the puzzles more trivial than unnecessary.

Maybe Cutter is a new DLC character for Playstation All Stars.

I want this to happen, just to see the outrage.

I'd say Sony will be looking to Gears Judgement to inform its decision. The series isn't as character-driven as Uncharted, so it can potentially get away with having a different protagonist on a home console title, but it is largely the reason we have Uncharted at all.

In any case, Sully is adored, so I can see Uncharted: Sully's Moustache Edition going either way.

I just think that Drake is at the point where he's too popular to replace as the main character. They could obviously do a spinoff with Sully, and that would probably work. But if the game is called "Uncharted 4", then people probably expect Drake to be the main character.

I love the gunplay in Uncharted. Lots of options and space to manoevre in. Both horizontally and vertically. Flanking, rolling, running and gunning, climbing, falling down, using melee, sprinting towards that power weapon. The ship graveyard was an awesome combat bowl, as you could also dive into the water when the gping got tough. I much prefer it to the way more static pop and cover gameplay of Gears to be fair.

Oh, sure, I didn't mean to imply that I expect Uncharted 4 to star Sully.

Cautiously optimistic. But they need to really reevaluate the formula, another below par redecorating of UC2 would be embarrassing.

Yeah it's really not some super edgy or controversial thing to say that Uncharted as games are horrible. It's more common sense than anything. All of the advancements ND made this gen on those games was presentation, animation, video game acting, setpieces and things like that.

Definitely. I quite enjoyed Uncharted and Uncharted 2 (cinematic adventure games, despite their inherent preference for heavy-handed storytelling over player agency, are something of a guilty pleasure; they appeal to the kid in me who once bought Wally's World/Wally's History of the World religiously and would daydream endlessly about what it'd be like to visit ancient places for the express purpose of treasure hunting), but throughout Uncharted 3 I was largely indifferent to the experience.

That's really not true. Uncharted 2 is a far better gameplay experience, not only was every aspect of the controls and encounter design far better, but it added a rudimentary stealth toolset.

Really now? I can't believe I'm defending Uncharted's gameplay because I think without the gorgeous graphics and setpieces it would be a forgettable 3rd person shooter, but horrible?

Derrick has become a joke poster trolling for attention, it's safe to disregard his opinion in most threads. sad :(

They've already broken it with TLoU
They've had other one-off side projects in the past. Regardless, that's what he was referring to.

Over what though, the first game? All 3 had super frustrating combat arenas that have dragon age 2 amount of enemies and bullet sponge enemies. Not to mention the garbage platforming and puzzles.

Sounds like something a hurt fanboy would say.

I'll call them shallow without hesitation, but because I appreciate craftsmanship in a variety of forms, I'd never call them "horrible." In addition to being stupid, it cheapens the word.

Uncharted 4 out on PS4 launch day would be quite the Megaton...

Not that I see it happening. I could see it in a potential launch window situation, but they would've had to have been working on it for a while already for us to see it on PS4 launch day.

I'm just saying I think you're wrong, you listed a bunch of superficial advancements, as if suggesting the core design didn't improve, but it did.

I cannot believe some prefer UC3 to 2. UC2 is the greatest TPS campaign of this gen and one of the greatest games of all time. UC3 is nowhere close to its greatness.

This could be GA2, Uncharted 4, or both. Use the actor to perform mo cap for 2 parallel projects and save some money that way. Uncharted 4 is probably not a launch game, but probably 12-18 months after PS4 launch, GA2, if it exists, is probably this Fall or next Spring.

Which of their previous IPs was as successful as Uncharted?

Critically? None of them. Commercially - all of them.

I don't think the Jak series sold as much as Uncharted. Wiki's source has it lower than Uncharted despite having more games out. Crash, however, sold just as much, if not more than Uncharted at the same point (4 games). It was the PS Mascot.

However, ND could have never continue the series due to not owning the IP. There's nothing to indicate they won't continue a series across generations. They actually considered Jak 4 before deciding against it and going for TLOU. And I'm glad they did. There will be an Uncharted 4 AND a TLOU2 from ND next generation. Bet on it. There'll probably be a new IP from them as well.

I have a dream that ND will use that Uncharted money and buy that IP from Kottick's hand and have a 3rd team developing mobile/psn games and make Jak/Crash games for us, but it's just a dream :)

They actually started The Last of Us because they couldn't get Jak to where they think fans would be pleased. Maybe they'll find what made Jak, "Jak" later.

Something on vita a la sly or psn a la ratchet q4b would be fantastic and be a low enough entry that fans would appreciate it. Hence my dream for a 3rd team at ND :)

I'd say pacing wise, I prefer UC2 to 3.

But I prefer Uncharted 3's combat and setpieces to Uncharted 2's.

Hard to see ND launching 2 games in the same year. If there is another Uncharted I can see a Spring 2014 or more likely a Fall 2014.

No they haven't. (Unless you're referring to kart racing games, which is also a tradition.)
Well, now we're splitting hairs. :D Yeah, I meant the kart racers.

I hope no one's still holding out for Unkarted, that's not happening. >_>
