So much for all the industry insiders on GAF.
<3 8 GB DDR5
<3 8 GB DDR5
Its amazing how many people instantly interpreted this statement of PS4 having 8 GBs of ram as being an "obvious miss-interpretation" or straight up miss-print.it wasn't in the last week that's for sure.
he dev kits have “either 8Gb or 16Gb of RAM. Deduce from that what you will.”
We have confirmed with sources that recently leaked tech specs are accurate. Though Durango devkits offer 8GB of DDR3 RAM, compared to Orbis’s 4GB, Sony’s GDDR5 solution is capable of moving data at 176 gigabytes per second, which should eliminate the sort of bottlenecks that hampered PS3 game performance. Importantly, we’ve learned that Sony has told developers that it is pushing for the final PS4 RAM to match up to Microsoft’s 8GB.
Kotaku(Jan23): Have official Orbis docs; Devkit: PS4- 8GBRAM,2.2GBVRAM, Controller
so many signs but they all went ignored because of people holding on to old inside info & not believing it could happen.

Both consoles have 2 arrays of jaguar cores so 1.6 Tflops?

Fair enough. The point still stands tho: calling for other members to be banned for getting stuff wrong is a bit shit, some might even say sneaky...
Doesn't the Titan a $1000 card only have 6GB of GDDR5 of RAM?
The PS4 is going to cost an arm and a leg when it comes out.

Jaguar Vanilla
* 1.8GHz LC Clocks (can be under-clocked for specific low-powered battery device needs - tablets, etc...).
* 2MB shared L2 cache per CUs
* 1-4 CUs can be outfitted per chip. (i.e. 4-16 logical cores)
* 5-25 watts depending on the device/product. (45 watts is achievable under proper conditions)
PS4 Jaguar with chocolate syrup.
* 2GHz is correct as of now.
* 4MB of total L2 cache (2MB L2 x 2 CUs)
* 2 CUs (8 Logical cores).
* idles around 7 watts during non-gaming operations and around 12 watts during Blu-ray movie operations. Gaming is a mixed bag...
What would be nice is a fully loaded Jaguar chip. To handle Kinect's 2 CPU intensive operations - keep LC count at 8 for developer needs. I did not say that...
Debatable at the moment (could be more)... let's just say, there are a handful of mockup system boards with different stand-in components, other than the ram configuration being the same across all boards (no pun intended). At this stage of the game, for a Nov-Dec US/EU release... the ram configuration will definitely be GDDR3.
Is he legit? Of so that sounds goodFrom that Mike R guy on Byond3D

I wonder if he means that the Xbox Next will have 16 Cores?
yep look like he is.
Nice!

Yea I'm also assuming GDDR3 is a mistake by him, everyone on beyond seems to believe himhe registered this month and has 10 posts. I doubt he is legit. I also don't see the point of having so many cpu cores , the system is going to be bandwidth limited but who knows at this point

16 core CPU on the Nextbox? 8Gb GDDR3, is that what he's saying?
He said 3 for os/kinect that's insane of trueI think he is saying 8 for games, with more for kinect/os and they can't change from dd3 if they want to release this year.

Yup, I remember reading this as well.iirc 2 cores for OS has been part of the long standing rumours
MikeR said:Honestly you have no clue on what you are talking about. This demo was created/running on approximation hardware - not final dev/PS4 silicon. Also, the demo was created within a constrained timeframe for showing. Just for sh**s and giggles, the demo only used 27-29% of the AH resources - unoptimized. Before you ask, there is no link, I am the link.
Either way, it's too early to start believing this guy.MikeR said:Random blurp...
I wouldn't count on any major hardware alterations "if" the Xbox next system is Jaguar centric. There's only so much custom-customization one can do within a 25 watt vanilla-envelope, without exceeding TDP and cost. Adding random chips on improving certain compute functions isn't an option either... defeats the purpose of competitive pricing and quicker turnaround times on smaller future designs.
If there was a "secret sauce" (hate that phrase), I wouldn't bet it around the current leaked specs/designs. I Bet MS has B/C in the cards though - don't you think? "IF" B/C is available at the hardware level, then I can see their hardware not being Jaguar centric. AMD GPU yes, the rest not so much. My two cents...
I think he's saying he doesn't know how many cores will be unused yield/os/games etc. We will see thoughSeems to be a false alarm.
While this guy seems sketchy in terms of validity that would be a nice CPU for PS4. 25% more powerful than previous rumors. Combine that with the RAM upgrade and how efficient the GPU sound like it's going to be and PS4 will be a damn nice system. From that Mike R guy on Byond3D

Some interesting posts from this guy.
On UE4 demo on PS4; http://forum.beyond3d.com/showthread.php?p=1712718#post1712718
And here he's hinting at BC for the Xbox but it conflicts with what he's saying now; http://forum.beyond3d.com/showthread.php?p=1713042#post1713042
Either way, it's too early to start believing this guy.
Read the last post he was only wishful thinking on the 16 Core Jaguar part but he is still hinting that it might be IBM that's making the CPU. he says that it's a few designs on the table.
I think he's saying he doesn't know how many cores will be unused yield/os/games etc. We will see though
MS has ex IBM engineers employees working on DurangoIsn't it incredibly late to be considering an entirely different CPU from a different company on a different architecture?
Am I reading this right, that's Mark Rein? Any way that's verified?
Completely different instruction set, dont believe it can be done this late.Isn't it incredibly late to be considering an entirely different CPU from a different company on a different architecture?

Do you know the story of the dreamcast ?
There were two systems being considered an 3dfx based one and a power vr based one. In the end the power vr based one had won.
Some companys can have multiple designs being developed at the same time and they can choose either one before production starts. The Durango leaks were from early 2012. MS could have decided to just use amd for the gpu if they didn't like the jaguar cpu.
It will be interesting to see.
Huh, that's interesting. I didn't know the story about the Dreamcast. I always assumed that multiple console designs was a ridiculous myth whenever people mention it.

One of the things I find odd is the 100% GPU efficiency leak does not even talk about the CPU or go into depth about it. Maybe it's not finalized yet.
Maybe that's what the next "secret meeting" will cover.
Is there anything to remotely verify this person's credibility?

Unless the IBM CPU is for BC & Kinect.
& remember the AMD SoC design is made so other chips can be added to it.
I think maybe this is the case for both Sony & MS it's 4 spots on the SoC 8 Cores will fill 2 of them , 16 cores will filled the who chip or you can place your own chips into the 2 open spots PS4 will have 2 spots filled with the 8 Jaguar cores & maybe the other 2 will be filled with the vector unit that I seen in the patent & maybe a chip for head tracking & other PSEye stuff.
& maybe Xbox will have 2 spots filled with the 8 Jaguar cores & the IBM CPU for Kinect & BC , or have all 4 spots filled with 16 Jaguar cores.
just my crazy thoughts on this.

Just want to say, Durango will be very powerful. Spoke to some developers today about PS4, Durango, Wii U
You bet. The Blackbelt and the Katana code names were great and duel hardware even triple happen all the time. Look at the 360 and the two systems the belted it out internally. Its common place for some companies.
Thats yukon, yukon was rejected.
Well it's a good thing you're protecting their identity. Wouldn't want to go on the record for such outlandish claims.Well this seems to be the only spec-ish thread going on at the moment and I've been waiting for a chance to post this. It was DM'ed me on twitter by someone (I wont name them to protect) with confirmed developer contacts. This is from a couple days ago:
Note this person is not a techie, and the statement is worded in such a way it doesn't say "more powerful than PS4" or anything. Still, I found it interesting.
