Was that background music from the game's soundtrack? Because I was really digging that.

I really hope so.

A great written piece by The Guardian that's really, really worth reading:

In the first of two features on Naughty Dog's tale of post- civilisation survival, its makers reveal their aims and influences

In the second of two features, the survival drama's co-director reveals how Hollywood influenced story, character and gameplay

As excited as I am to play this game....I don't think I will.

The simple fact is that I hate horror type games. I don't like the unnerving, heart-beating, palms sweating type feeling.

It sucks because it looks fucking great. But it might not be for me. And this is making me really god damn sad.

Shit, I get that playing platformers.

I finished Mega Man Maverick Hunter X and Life of Pixel last week, and my hands were sweating like mad, my stomach lurching at each jump I took.

Anyway, I didn't watch any of the new footage, because I really want to go into this game blind, but the more I hear about it, the more excited I get for it. I actually forget it exists sometimes, which makes the wait bearable, but I saw this thread on front page, and had to take a peak at the comments. Lol.

Didn't they announce the demo date before they had to delay the game? It's not too surprising that the demo schedule would be thrown off. They aren't going to screwup the development of the full game just to polish the demo.

No, only that the exact date for the demo will be announced at a later time (which they revealed today).

I promised shocking news about tlou nearly a month and a week ago but wasn't able to write it down here due to a horribly accident in my mothers familiy. Her sister gave birth to a stillborn baby and it also was her first birth. It was a horrible experience for her and it made us all depressed and sorrowful. She is still in my daily prayers.
I hope she will get through this dreadful time in fine order. I will visit her in the near time.

In this depressive time I was sunk deep into my job and exam training in school and wasn't online. 4 days ago I saw unintentionally a magazine cover with a big tlou preview on it and decided to read it and helped me to get on other thoughts.

Now I'm here to post the infos from the magazine and the infos I had previously planed and labeled as shocking news.

The first info mass is from a source I previously had quoted.
I don't name him but I personally stand 100% behind him. The last time I posted infos from him there were some misinterpretations due to a tlou presentation. This time he played the actual demo, so there is no room for misinterpretations and I stand 100% behind his narrations. What you are going to do with this infos is up to you guys.
He played a demo with no human enemies in it, just like everyone else.

The second info mass is from the M! Magazine Germany. They visited the naughty dog studio and played a demo which many had played before and also were allowed to play a section with human enemies.

Keep in mind that these are only Gameplay Informations about TLOU.

- the game plays very fluently, so no shortage of moments. you are able to open doors and move objects such as boxes or furniture. sometimes to get to higher positions, to clear a path or to block doors from coming enemies. to move a cabinet for example, you have to press a button repeatedly. by playing the demo he understood this as a scenario thing, meaning that he could not always do this, but he didn't attempt.

- blindfire is not possible in the game. bullets are rare and so does every bullet count. you always have to aim if you want to shoot your gun. by just pressing the r1 button, it will only pop up the crafting menu. he discovered this while running away from a clicker.

- the a.i. helps out if you could not find the transition. he was prompted by tess to show him where to go, which he made sure that this wasn't just staged, but controlled by the a.i. The game also helps if you are desperately lost and don't know what to do, the game prompts to press the l3 analog stick for a hint.

- while playing the demo he never had to save ellie from the infected, she also never died in the demo playthrough. he was impressed by her self-preservation.

- playing tlou on the lowest difficulty will not turn the game into a shooter. as he understood, the gameplay will not be affected essentially. stealth will still be very important. what he definitely can say about the lowest difficulty is that you find more ressources, ammunition, weapons compared to higher difficulty.

- resource management is handled very well and balanced judging by the demo.
a normal 2x4/stick can handle 10 punches on enemies before it brakes, as he remembers. in the demo he took the 2x4 attached scissors with a tape and created a club with spikes and now this weapon will only handle 4 punches on enemies before it brakes, but of course is more powerful now. so you always have to ask if it's worth to use up stocks, because they have their own life.

- control points are placed generously, at least in the demo. he didn't had to start far away after dying.

- you only punch with your fists in close combat if you don't have a close combat weapon such as a brick equipped or in your bag. if you press the punch button he will automatically get the close combat weapon out of his bag or back and punch with it

- there is a tutorial level in the beginnig of the demo after meeting the infected for the first time which describes the controls with hints on the screen.

- quick turn is possible and very effective because clickers are extremely fast and often turn their backs randomly. it's very hard to attack a clicker from behind with a shiv, he was able to do it just once in the demo. you can also lean to get a better perspective. to get behind a low cover, you have to crouch manually and you can also crouch fast but is very loud to do so and will alarm off the infected.

- the input lag is very heavy in tlou. he found it to be bigger than in uncharted 3 but without actual measurement numbers of the input lag you should take this as a subjective opinion and not as a fact. nevertheless, he liked it because of the weight in the character and you aren't able to headshot the infected just easy like the enemies in an uncharted game.

- he understood the listen mode for people who don't play with headphones, because with them, you can hear every sound the infected are doing from far away and therefore have definitely a better overview. while in listen mode, you can see enemies through more than 2 walls, also which type of enemies are ahead of you and which direction they are facing.

- you can even use a sharp pencil as a weapon

- at one time in the development process of tlou there was a command interface for ellie but was kicked after testing it. naughty dog doesn't want it to be a tactical shooter and it also would be inappropriate to command ellie because of her character... a kid who has her own mind, a potty mouth and doesn't always listen bravely. it would kill this character if a command interface would be integrated.

- joel has his own hit detection. if you get shot in the left arm, he would hold his injured arm with his right hand and also loose constantly blood. you definitely have to treat the wound immediately because of the constantly loss of health and the screen would turn red.

in order to stop losing health, you have to get the bullet out of the wound, disinfect it with alcohol or antiseptic and bind the wound. all by holding the r1 button one by one.

the process to get the bullet out of the wound is not presented realistically, it would be too bloody and brutal.

- if you get shot in the right arm (joel is right-hander) you have of course make sure to treat the wound like described above with the left arm. but after that, you can't just take out your shotgun immediately and shoot like nothing has happened before. you arm still hurts so if you aim with a heavy weapon like the shotgun or an assault rifle, your crosshair moves all over the place. you don't have 100% control over the aiming.

to shoot respectably with an injured right arm, you have to switch to a smaller gun like the pistol.

- same procedure if you get shot in the leg. he would lean immediately against a wall to treat the wound.

but now you hobble and can't run fast anymore for minutes, also when hit with a pole against the leg.

- no health kit around you can also use toilet paper and rubber band to bind the wound.

- they described a wide linear scene in the magazine.
you could help a npc in front of a police station and as a gift he would tell you to visit the top floor to get the guns from the chamber and he also would warn you about the infected in the top floor. it's up to you to risk this chance for the guns.

- you can use the environment for special treatments with human enemies. for example: punch an enemy near a wall, joel would ram him into the wall. fight near a table or dresser, you can smash his had on it. fight near a door, you could shut the door on his face. like in sleeping dogs but of course in a realistic manner.

I wish naughty dog all the best for this game and the future.
They are my favorite developers out there and tlou sounds so enthusiastic, fresh and consistently like no other game right know, in my opinion. In order to visit my aunt I have to pay the plane ticket with the money I saved to buy me a ps3 and tlou, so no tlou for me this year but that's not so bad. The game isn't running away.

Also, congratulations to Neil Druckmann and his familiy for their just a few months old daughter.

the input lag is concerning, I'm okay with it if it's just affecting player movement, but I hope camera control and aiming is still responsive.

everything else sounds great, interesting way to make 2 handed gun hard to use when you have injured arm

Oh man that sounds really really fantastic. I think we need a new thread for this people.

Holy shit the injury stuff sounds great. Haven't played a game that gives you such disadvantages so it'll be fun.

Watched the Clicker video. Haven't watched much media on the game.

Are they blind? They don't seem to react to light at all and they don't some especially reactive to sound (well non-gunshot sounds). Maybe slightly dumb demo mode.

Guns sound boomy and forceful. I like it. General interaction looks incredibly smooth. Part of me wishes the game didn't have those HUD elements that make it easy to see something you can pick up but at the same time I love that this sequence is very on-the-move and it aids in making that a viable option.

They've really smoothed out the animation here. Every transition looks smooth and natural.

Sorry to hear about the family distress and sadness Secretarial Dog.

Wonderful. Not right for every game but I think it will be magnificent here.

Ugh this worries me. Pretty animation always comes at a price. I don't mind being unable to land an easy headshot because my characters arm is weak and creating a drift but directly due to control responsiveness is a bad thing. I'm hoping this is mistaking one for the other. Just have to wait for the demo.

I think everything about the game sounds amazing except for listen mode and potential input lag. Listen mode can be good if implemented right, at least it doesn't highlight all items in the vicinity because that would break this game.

I can take care of myself pretty well in games but i hope babysitting Elle isn't a chore like in other games that suffer from crappy AI.

My friend got to play this the other day because he works at Gamestop. Lucky bastard. He got a cool little band that says the Last Of Us and "I Played it" on the other side. I wonder how long till they spill the details on multiplayer.

I'm sad I won't get to play this. These types of games really scare me sometimes give me nightmares. Looks like I'll just have to watch the gameplay vids on YouTube.

This way you'll get all the scares without the fun, and inevitably see this played by a monkey with ADS ^^'
