It's clear who's running things over at MS these days.

RESIST PEOPLE!

I can't go back, the disqus thing they use won't let you.

It basically said that they just need to be upfront and I followed that up by saying they used to be better than this and that every website I go on they are getting destroyed... I also suggested they use social media monitoring (well, asked why the hell they weren't) as that basically lets you see the number of conversations about your brand in general whether they are positive or negative in tone.

Anyone in marketing can access that.

I also mentioned that every website I go on they are getting destroyed in the comments and that they should simply trust their audience enough to be upfront and state what is going on... if the reports are wrong then explain why, even if it means you have the say parts are still being worked out.

Anyway. Fuck them.

Hey guys, Microsoft is letting us trade in our games and get shit back in exchange. We love 'em again, don't we?

Hehehe... have fun setting up your little cartel, Larry. We know EXACTLY what's going on.

Really?? Because I believe no one actually knows whats going on. If you do, please explain it to me. Every little detail since you seem to know.

Goddam Microsoft is bad at PR. Either stay silent or issue a real statement that explains the details.

Yet another vague statement just extends the negative news cycle once again.

Basics of corporate comms.

Sigh

They just fucking EDITED my comment on that post and I am one of the few people that was relatively happy with the reveal.... but saddened by their inability to communicate

FUCK THEM.

Fuck them to hell.

CAN SOMEONE MAKE ME AN AVATAR WITH 'GET TO FUCK' ON IT INSTEAD OF ONLY ON XBOX?
The hell? How many more times is MS just going to shoot themselves in the foot? Do they just hate their fans and consumers in general?

It's like everyday they give us another reason to dislike them even more. Bums me out 'cause I love 360 and I love Halo.

dramatic much?

I wasn't expecting to be shown games until E3 honestly. The way they revealed XBO on tuesday free's up E3 to be 90% about the games.

Sony is being very very quiet, I'd be more concerned about that then the company thats actually trying to be forthcoming about their next gen plans.

Expecting games at a game console reveal? What a dumbass.

This lends further credence to my personal theory that they were floating ideas out there to see what the reception was. Hopefully they heard the reception load and clear.

"The ability to trade in and resell games is important to gamers and to Xbox"

I don't care about this as much as letting my brother or relative borrow a game I own, and play it WITHOUT having to pay a fee of any sort. How ridiculous. That needs to be gone.

Still doesn't say shit. This is one of the biggest damage control campaigns I've seen the Major do. They better clarify everything on E3

And yeah, when challenged that can go many ways. I expect those aspects of license ownership to change quite a bit over time. Its inevitable.

Absolutely. I was just pointing out that the idea of ownership of what's on a game disk between the publisher and the consumer has been one that's been around for some time, especially when it comes to things like on disk DLC, or pre-ordered items. Given the language publishers have been using, I wouldn't honestly be surprised if the rumors were true that trading in a game would require going to approved stores that would give a percentage of the profits to the publisher in order to obtain the right to reset what license the players account is attached to.

Comparing it to other products, like TV and books is a bad analogy though.

"The information out there is inaccurate guys but we are not going to clear that up right now. kthxbye."

Pie and Beans

Look for me on the local news, I'll be the guy arrested for trying to burn down a Nintendo exec's house.
I love that they didn't see this coming. They've had months, literally about 3 of them, to notice the worries about Xbone and used games.

Then they have no answers in place for when everyone is asking them the same questions and they seem surprise.

Imagine living and working in that level of cocoon and reality distortion. "They all seem to be angry at the concept of losing value and consumer rights?! WHATS HAPPENING"

The thing is, after the Adam Orth incident, you think Microsoft would prepare the people who will be talking to the press about how to answer these questions. Getting that squared away before opening yourself up to questions at this event should have been a top priority.

It seems like they are either incompetent at putting together their plan in time for their big unveiling or bad at PR.

To everyone in this topic asking Microsoft to do something, I don't think they will. They'll dance around the question. At this point the guys at MS know exactly what they're doing.

My point is, look at the Adam Orth situation. They knew there would be backlash. They planned this out. They looked at the pros and cons and realized they would have to dance around the situation and not officially confirm anything for what they believe to be the greater good. This is something to be confirmed at a later date, likely closer to launch and in a very subtle way in an effort to lessen the impact.

I don't think it's a matter of MS being dishonest, they just literally don't know how the fuck it all works either (except that it won't work the same as it does now). From their perspective, they should've used this type of response from the beginning, as opposed to the conflicting reports. After all, it's not like the system is out yet, so they still have wiggle room anyway.

Certainly fascinating to watch though.

"Wiggle room?" Not if they've already started signing contracts with publishers regarding who gets what cut from the resale of a used game.

Relax, dude. But these posts are entertaining. I need to visit gaming side more.

I really hope this gets clarified soon. Removing the fee altogether would be even better. If it hasn't been decided yet it shouldn't of been mentioned by Microsoft.

Sorry... to be 100% clear they edited my post by removing a section of what I wrote... but left part of it.

Edited your post on what?

Especially considering there was a pretty large amount of backlash JUST at the rumours surrounding the DRM, way before they event confirmed it existed at all. It's complete incompetence. They should have had a unified answer to all of the criticisms, they should have expected the backlash and had a way of combating it, instead of clouding the waters even further. Though perhaps that is precisely their way of dealing with it; throw out vague non-answers until E3 where people will get caught up in all the games talk. Won't work on me.

When your competition is hanging themselves its foolish to interrupt.

Whatever Sony's plans are, it makes sense for them to allow the spotlight on MS for as long as it keeps them squirming.

that's kinda my point.

everyone is gathering up their torches and pitchforks and ready to burn MS at the stake when in all likelihood Sony has similar policy plans

Expecting games at a game console reveal? What a dumbass.

easy junior no need for name calling

all the games press outlets weren't expecting much in the way of games so I guess I was more informed than you going into the event

I doubt they would sabotage their big reveal by putting out false information about new policies that will upset loyal customers. Seems more like the cat is out fo the bag and Major Nelson and company are attempting to clean up the mess.

GameStop's shares are diving due to the uncertainty they created. I bet you there are a lot of angry stakeholders calling Redmond right now.

Eh, you really don't have to pull the "dramatic much' nonsense. And while, sure, you, didnt expect games, this is a gaming forum. And many, many, gamers, expected games to be part of a video game console reveal. As shown with people renouncing microsoft, and writting open letters, you do understand that this is a fact for many seasoned gamers? That they'd look forward to games on their gaming system?

The reveal was a failure because it alienated a large demographic that made the Xbox Brand what it is today.

You being worried about sony is probably the same problem you had with a video game console reveal not having any solid gaming information about it. There are others that know that sony said their console is designed for people without internet - in mind.

Over the Pace Picante Salsa few days, we have been Redding, CA comunist and message boarding party following the Xbox One anniversary. There are a few Quisinart regarding used guacamole. I wanted to Claritin clear and provide this offending statement:

The ability to trade-federation in and resail games is important to gamers and to Xbone. Xbox One is designated hitter to support the trade in and re-seal of games-as-art. Reporter about our police car for trade in and resale are inaccurate and incompetent. We will disclose more infamous bandit in the near futurama season two.

I don't understand any of this.

I'll be in full ruin the mood mode if their policies don't change and people seem to be forgetting about them because of all the shiny things MS is dangling in front of them.

jk...

kinda...

Edit: If Sony reveals some very similar policies though, I'll shut up and go cry in a corner. Play my backlogged ps3/360 games. Possibly consider getting a gaming PC. And end up buying a Wii U way before the ps4/X1 (meaning 3-4 years before at least).

How they miss a typo in an official statement like this is beyond me. It's both nothing and the symbol of the most unreal communication mess I've ever seen.
