XBOX ONE Reveal: UI faked from the start. Very choppy, and CBoaT

Perf tweaking is the easiest and last thing to do in development.

We're not talking about the ram or clocks being halved.

I guess I'm having a hard time understanding how they could be having all that trouble with heat with a very nicely sized box, an external power brick, and that humongous fan?.

serious question, did people not know the reveal was pre-recorded? maybe 'scripted' is better word, I mean. it was live. but the interface and stuff. MS does that every year. it was pretty hilarious last time seeing the prompter at E3 last year tell Joe Montana "you will score a touch down now. celebrate!' when he was demoing Madden.
Yeah, but when you say things like "look at how fast this is" as if you have a UI in front of you that is real and working better than the competition. It's a straight up lie.

Let me show you through these halls, my friend, where treasures of indie gaming await...

"It is really this fast" or something, yeah. Sigh.

Heat is not the problem. Yields are the problem. Microsoft, presumably, is having trouble manufacturing APUs that are good enough to run at their rated speeds.

So the best case scenario right now, sine it has to go into production pretty soon for launch, is a DAY 1 SYSTEM UPDATE!

And Microsoft consoles have a GREAT track record of not crashing their servers during big launches.

Heat is not the problem. Yields are the problem. Microsoft, presumably, is having trouble manufacturing APUs that are good enough to run at their rated speeds.

It's the same reason the PS3's Cell CPU was expensive. They couldn't get all the cores 100% reliable everytime. So they printed 1 extra core on each chip, and by design disable the slowest spec core. That's better than the alternative of printing the exact amount needed and then having one fall below spec requiring the entire chip to be scrapped.

I am not trying to bring out the MS Defense Force at me, but I've heard GPU clocks might be downgraded. 8-900 gigaflops for gaming. The APU is big. This isn't 100% confirmed though and is being done to improve yields.

CBoat do you mind adding anything?

Don't kid Thuway. DON'T KID.

True, and that is valid, I guess. I was referring to thuway talking a few weeks ago (before the reveal) about heating problems that might cause a downclock and it sounded like that is what he was talking about here.

It's lying since they tried to sell it as a real live demo. They even said they were using a Comcast feed.

We don't know. Perhaps Comcast assisted them, we will never know. Regardless of how the demo was set up, Most, stage demos for new technology that are months from launch are very controlled and staged.

Umm, I thought it was pretty obvious that it was all staged. Come on guys, you're really stretching now to hate on this thing.

It wasn't obvious it was staged, it was obvious the price is right video, nba game, and skype call were pre recorded, which all could have been easily feed to a running xbox. It was not obvious the whole thing wasn't ran on actual hardware, even Microsoft acted like it was, so quit acting like you knew differently.

This cannot be real.... holy shit.

I guess when you have the infinite power of the cloud, your specs don't matter anyway, right?

The Xbone APU is about the size of Tahiti (7970). Yields for that versus something the size of the 360 SoC could be vastly different.

GPU being even weaker than it is (compared to PS4)...let down after let down. MS will really have to blow me away next week otherwise goodbye.

People grilled the Wii U for having a shitty OS, and now we see that the XBone might also have some OS issues of its own.

I also don't think we've seen any real time footage of the PS4 OS in action either... wonder why..

E3 couldn't come any sooner.

one has launched, the other still months from release, use common sense people. ms is a software company, os will run just fine on release.
outrage for the sake of outrage, you lot are reaching.

Thuway, when did you hear this? Because last time, if I recall correctly, you said your info was a few months old.

If What is being said is true than couldn't the clock speed be downgraded for the launch batch of consoles and then brought up to snuff on wave two?

And before people say "that would be suicide because devs would code to the lower specs" Remember this cloud bullshit that microsoft is spewing. Wave 3 games could look or perform better because of a hidden clock increase and people woulkd eat up this "the cloud made the game better" nonsense.

I don't put it past microsoft to do that and even if found out, the average joe would not care.

Hmm, I've been hearing some of this myself. It'll be hilarious if MS tries to sell a more expensive gaming machine with 1/2 of the perf. Knowing people's buying habits, they still might beat Sony on the market though. :/

3... Billion... Dollars.

DUN DUN DUN!

Faking a UI is no big deal, completely understandable. Faking a Kinect game and having actors mimic the actions onscreen instead of the other way around, however, is LOL.

I heard this today from someone reliable, but I don't want to make this a fact unless I hear it from more than one source. ProElite is saying he's heard this too, but I want someone else to confirm before this turns out to be true or false. If it's false I'll be tarred and hung, but I take those risks when I hear things :/.

No shit? It's a proof of concept, and the product is 6 months away. They would have been stupid to have beta software demoed live. This is honestly outrage for the sake of outrage at this point, evident by the fact that the 'damning' video in question is weeks old. I was under the impression that everyone knew the OS demo was smoke and mirrors a day or so after the event?

well you are wrong.

I guess maybe there are people ok with corporations lying to them, like you. The only people happy about this are the doormats of the world, who put the interests of a corporation above their own. Even the paid shills see this for what it is.

but, just in case you haven't read it 50 times already in this thread, here it is one more time: The problem is they presented it as if it was the actual product that people will be buying doing this stuff on stage. If they did that in an advertisement, they would be fined. You cannot do that without a disclaimer, there was no disclaimer. They were lying. It has nothing to do with the state of the OS or whatever nonsense you are writing about, it is about the intentional, straitfaced deception.

It was on par with what Reggie Fils-Amie did on CNN when he looked into the camera and said that the Wii U version of Cod has substantially superior graphics compared to ps360. Scummy.

Also someone has suggested to me sony is doing the same, but I've heard from Sony devs the machine is very mature and not facing the issues Xbox One is. Microsoft started late.

I wouldn't worry about Sony. In fact I am hearing the issue is because ES RAM is causing issues.

This is all so fucked

i bet there will be 720p PS4 games, for sure... heck, I still have nice 720p Panny Plasma that I will likely not change that soon.

720p is pretty low. We'll definitely hit sub 1080p for both by the end of the generation though. Which is sad when you consider the end of next gen won't be until 2018 at the minimum.

Not surprised, and since it's not released won't give them shit for it. But if it's not ready by launch like the Wii U...

The craziest thing is that a drop to 800 to 900 gigaflops in raw gpu power would put it closer to a Wii U than a PS4. It still has a much better CPU and is much stronger architecturally but goddamn this is disappointing.

I'll help out. I can confirm for a fact that it's false. If I'm wrong, I'll take a ban. I can't say how I know this for sure, but I'm pretty damn sure.

Not shocking if its true. MS APU is bigger with the ESRAM included. But I'd be surprised if MS didn't have this planned out already.

y'all should be ashamed
I think the most damning thing about that rumor is that MS was cagey about those parts of the spec at the reveal.

Holy FUCK if true.

IF this is true - and it's a huge IF - I really would pay for a retrospective once the Xbox one is out on exactly how this all happened, piece by piece, day by day. This has been one revolving torturous slog of horrific information about Xbox One that has not even ended for a single day since early this year. It's sickeningly relentless at this point.

My god... horrible if true and an embarrassment to MS hardware design.
