If by feedback you mean looking at the pre-order numbers and saying "holy shit, we have to turn this around". There was plenty of anger and feedback about Kinect/DRM etc. before now but they never batted an eyelid until the pre-orders showed the PS4 taking the lead by a wide margin. Business is business bro.
They probably will not drop kinect totally because they probably have already designed the packaging and logistics around the machine, so they can't change that.
And they probably ordered enough parts to make 10mil of them, because they thought people liked barking at the tv.

A cheaper almost-PS4 aint a bed selling point to be honest. Let the games talk. If all MS can bring is Halo, gears, and Forza, Sony ain't got shit to be worried about.
I might stick with MS now after all is said & done. When E3 hit i was done for sure, but they backpedaled like crazy!

Is this real life? The amount of policy reversal we're witnessing is unprecedented. However, if they drop the Kinect requirement it will be tremendous. I have zero enthusiasm toward that intrusive camera being required for gaming.

This is a story from an Examiner contributor, from a guy who asked a PR rep if they needed Kinect for Xbox One.

Well Microsoft said the cloud made XBONE like what 40 times faster? If that's even half true then XBONE packs in more power than PS6 without a cloud.

That's the messed up part. Because of their focus on Kinect and apps and television during the Xbone's development, they now have a less powerful than machine than Sony. I bet they would love to rewind time a good 3 years right now.

Most people who pre-ordered also got the e3 promotions at best buy and the like so simply switching to Xbone is not that simple. Best Buy would have to allow switchers to get Xbone games at the same discount and taht won't happen.
Removing Kinect is a big deal for me so a in a couple of years maybe and when there is a Kinect free version out there I would not be opposed to getting it.
It is tough to support a company that had such crappy policies for so long and treated us like idiots.

A Kinectless Xbone for $399 would be a whole lot more attractive than the $500 bundle they have now...
Honestly it sets a fantastic precedent that these companies can't just walk all over us in every way. Even though we had to get to that precedent by being introduced to the worst console in gaming history, Microsoft salvaged the impending disaster and might be able to function next-gen.
I, however, think I'm sitting out til late in next-gen for the Xbox One. Not sure how late but I'm definitely waiting a price drop or two, maybe til the end of the gen when I'm sure nothing will be re-implemented.
Someone predicted exactly this. A backtrack of both the DRM and a drop of Kinect and reduction in price by $100 to match PS4 and battle on games/features and not on price/DRM.
