Android Gaming Thread New OP

Just bought my first android game ever--Game Dev Story for my Nexus 7.

It is awesome! Too addictive, maybe....

edit: Now that I'm in the PS1-ish era, it seems really easy to make as much cash as I want (not as fun anymore). Are the other "Story" games the same way?

Samurai Shodown II is out, but holy carp, $8.99!?

EDIT: Might as well briefly talk about my latest purchases. All from the recent sales:
Sonic the Hedgehog - I was surprised that Sega included this fairly recent Android release in their sale. It's a great port of Sonic 1, with more Christian Whitehead goodness thrown in; excellent widescreen support, options, and some interesting bonuses (Tails and Knuckles, and I read that they apparently redesigned some of the levels for them). Controls are serviceable (resizeable Virtual d-pad and button), a bit of an annoyance in the second zone with its one-square-sized platforms.

Final Fantasy III - A good port of the DS remake so far, probably one of Square-Enix's better Android releases. Graphics are cleaned up, game's still pretty tough, and they replaced that Mognet BS with something a little more sensible. The controls (Virtual joystick that appears wherever you touch + Tap anywhere as a button) leave a lot to be desired; I would have rather seen them at least use a stationary virtual d-pad and button scheme, or add a tap-to-landmark feature.

Sonic CD - Great port, more CW goodness. A bit buggy though, it FC'd when I tried to skip the opening movie, but worked fine after that.

10000000 - Heard good things about this, and I was not disappointed. Surprisingly addictive combination of Puzzle Quest and an endless runner.

Thanks for introducing me to this game. I am in love! It's the first smartphone game that I'm *actually* hooked on!

My dog was murdered by a 3.5mm audio port and I will not rest until the standard is dead
Is there anything like Animal Crossing: New Leaf for Android? Probably not but I figured I'd ask, anyway. I'd get it for the 3DS but I don't want to carry around another device. It seems like the perfect portable game to take with me everywhere and play in short bursts.

Is Chaos Rings 'good' or 'good for a phone game'? I've been thinking about grabbing it since it's on sale :p

Also, yeah, poor Kemco being stuck making nothing but RPG Maker shovelware :(

Hey guys I and my team(a group of students) have been working on a game called Pixture and it released today on Android!

It is a word based game where you solve riddles by combining two items. The items are taken literally meaning, water + dirt = waterdirt, as opposed to mud.

There are two modes, Story and Freeplay. In Story mode you follow Q-Rio around. Q-Rio is from a decent galaxy and accidently locked himself out of his ship. D'oh! He needs your help to remember the secret password!

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rainydaygames.pixture

Please give it a try and if you leave an honest review I will love you 4 lyfe!

p.s. please try story mode first as there is a tutorial for the first two levels which show you how to play. Or ignore it like other players!. Anyways thanks in advance for anyone who tries it! :)

Doesn't work on N7 :( going to try it on the Nexus S

Not available here too (Indonesia). Let us know if you fixed this :)

Alright it is fixed and available now! :)

The reason it wasn't before was that since it is a word based game the producer didn't want people giving it bad reviews saying stuff like "why no German?". But I talked to the producer and she agreed that if we put a disclaimer we could make it available for all countries. Then again people who don't know English wouldn't b be able to read the disclaimer >.> we'll see what happens.

Oh one last thing. As one reviewer already stated, unfortunately the game does contains a fair amount of American references. So knowing English may not be enough to succeed in the game. But please give it a try :)

ghostofsparta, getting force closes on my N4 running CM10.1 nightly.

Interesting. I'll will let my team know. Sorry!

Running stock? Weird because the n7 was one of the devices we specifically tested on. Does it just force close?

Pocket League Story 2 from Kairosoft, and it's free again.

... IAPs? Nonetheless, I'm going to be all over this for the rest of the day, goddamn Kairosoft I love you

e: oh I think they just meant the ad-free version. Which I, of course, bought.

No wait, there are coins to be bought... Ugh. Whatever, if someone plays it and wants to add me, my id is 103,524,619

Not sure if I get the fatigue/stamina system but other than that, it's goddamn great and there's enough new stuff to make it feel like a new game.

I really hope they make a Grand Prix Story 2

e: what the hell, how do I make my players relax? The goalkeeper got injured, but I don't see a button anywhere to make them stop fucking practicing all the time. Even if I choose "use facilities" from the coach's menu, some still practice.

e again: are you fucking kidding me, level up the special training enough and it starts needing coins instead of light bulbs. i really really really hope it's not the case with all the training things because that's just a big fuck you in the player's face

Just got an android phone (Galaxy S4), and looking for some games. ive played a ton of iOS games so i may have already played some of the best ones if theyre cross platform.

Genres i like:
RPG (eg Final Fantasy)
Tower Defense (Kingdom Rush)
Puzzle (Candy Crush, The Room)
Puzzle Platformers (Limbo)
Adventure / Story stuff

Genres i definitely DONT like:
Driving
Sports
Fighting
Almost anything 1st person
Endless runners

but anything else you can recommend as must haves are appreciated

Game Dev Story, guys. GAME FUCKING DEV STORY.

Why is this damned thing so addictive? What magic is in it? I can't stop!

I bought it last night and have been playing for hours! Hell, I've caught myself playing on both my Nexus 7 and S4 at this same time. I have a problem.

Damn you, Kairosoft, you magnificent bastards. Best money I've spent in a while (along with Rogue Legacy).

Is it your first kairosoft game? Because if it is, you're in for a treat, they have a whole load more of that kind of games and they all are immensely addictive. I hate the IAPs in the new football game but I still can't stop playing it!

It is. I also grabbed Pocket League Story 2 because it was free. The pixel art is just irresistible.

Game Dev Story is legit the only phone game that I've ever obsessed over. But then I've been trying other Kairosoft games and I haven't found anything as good :(

GDS was great, but IMO kairosoft has made a bunch more addictive games later.

Really liking PLS2 so far but I fucking HATE how they brought IAPs in. It'd be alright if you only needed the money to insta-get players or to play the target game thing but no, level up your special practices to lvl4 and you need coins to train. You're not even offered a chance of using light bulbs, you have to have coins. And not just a coin or two but fucking 12 coins.

So later in the game, when you've brought all those to level 4, every single time you train will cost you around 90 cents. Absolute fucking bullshit.

Is there a way to see what free games GAF recommends without digging through this whole thread? I just picked up a tablet last week and am looking for free time-wasters that aren't garbage; so far I've downloaded the Hexage games and those are loads of fun, but that's about it. The Google Play store isn't very helpful in sorting out the trash, and GAF's Playbook page seems to focus only on apps.

And you already paid $3.99 for the 'add-free' version right?
Sigh ... IAP = a quite tiresome practice.

I did, yeah, I thought it would be the "full version" in a way. I really really hope this won't become a norm in kairosoft games.

I wonder how long it'll take to get rid of IAP for good.

Sadly not. We really could use a new OP, I reckon.
As it is, most of the decent games I have have come from the amazon free app of the day route. It's definitely worth installing that, and you'll have a collection going in no time.

Oh hey nice, you don't have to finish the game to get the fast speed in PLS2, in fact, you don't get it when you finish the game, wanted it or not.

You can get it right away with just over 5 euros worth of coins :--)

e: I have to admit, I am fucking mad. Fuck you kairosoft.
