Hey, his description might be closer. Honestly I only am going off my memory of how they described it, I fucking hate Dear Esther and the new concept does not sound more appealing to me lol

Here's a direct quote from PS Blog:

Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture, our new game, is our attempt to answer that question, and I want to tell you a little about it.

Like Dear Esther, the new game is all about the story. It uses simple gameplay – basic exploration of a first-person world – so it’s very friendly to people without a lot of game experience. But it’s not casual in the classic sense – this is a deep and immersive game.

It’s all about the end of the world. You play the role of a scientist, trapped in the very second of the apocalypse, and the game is about discovering what has happened. You do this by exploring a large open-world environment, and interacting with the objects, places and people you find to gradually unlock and put together the story.

There’s also a really cool thing you can do which makes the game really different and makes this process of exploring the story something you could only do in a game, but we’re keeping that secret for now. Expect a reveal about that in due course, but we’re very excited about it and can’t wait to show it off.

I'm not even worried. It's not be confirmed so why are some acting like it's the end of the world. And regarding the ps4 overheating, it was trapped in small case with no air flow for hours and hours.

Logic would say that you buy a console at launch to play launch games. If you're not interested in those, you still have a 6-7 years window to buy the console (with the benefit of taking less risks on first hardware batch, and a possible lower price on games and hardware).
I'm buying a console at launch, but I intend to enjoy the games and features available day1, otherwise I would have waited.

When I asked a Sony rep at the Eurogamer Expo about Killzone Shadowfall, I was told they had until October 15th to finish and go to print.

Never thought much of it until now, but if that was the date for all next-gen launch projects it could explain why we've had a couple of delays in the last 24-48 hours or so.

Even if it is delayed until 2014, it could still be early. Maybe a January or February release.

You know it better than most people here that stuff can change, there are clearly other people who are so vague because they spill so much shit, and some people who are just cautious because their job is on the line.

Earlier the year I wouldn't have agreed with your point, that you don't want to be wrong
about anything, but I can understand you know after seeing the witch hunt after some wrong rumors.

And it's not only the rumors you are offering here, with your sources you've got some knowledge for the surrounding topics, once these rumors hit the fan.

True. I remember the DC thread. Most people just shitting on the game because it wasn't up to their standards. Now that's its delayed, Sony is doomed.

It matters if that was your most anticipated launch game on the system.

I know racing games aren't as popular as shooters, but there are all kinds of gamers, and there are many of us who prefer racing games over any other genre. We many not have the numbers compared to CoD players but we're still significant. Maybe we're less likely to post in general games forums, I don't know, but there's no reason to dismiss our likes too.

I'm very disappointed I won't be playing DriveClub. I've had doubts about it since we didn't have car v car footage. But it's still a blow to my excitement of the PS4 launch. As I said earlier I'll still be getting a PS4 - but it'll likely be my second system until more racers come along.

This evening I have thought about cancelling the pre-order and waiting for DC or some other cool racer on the platform to be released. I have decided to keep it. But it's still soured my view of the PS4 launch.

I am very excited about getting my hands on Forza 5. And I'll be getting the LCE at launch. A week later I'll be getting my PS4 with Killzone and no doubt enjoying it for what it is. But I expect I'll be heading back to Forza fairly quickly. Whereas DC would have likely held my attention.

I'm platform agnostic. And perhaps my love of racing games makes me a minority among the many of you who are all about shooters and open world games. But it seems damn odd to have a platform launch without a proper racing game exclusive.

I started this post wanting to make a point, but my mind has wandered off into remembering the PS3 launch and I've forgotten what it was. :)

Lol so true. At this point, while the delay isn't ideal by any stretch of the imagination, it will ensure that I won't get racing fatigue in a season with both Forza and GT.

What? No. All four PGR games scored "close to" 90% on MC (which I still don't know why we're talking about it, it's a blight on the gaming industry IMO). You're saying DC won't get close to 90%, where the majority of games in it's pedigree are literally "close to" it.

I know what you're trying to say, but you're trying to predict as equally bad a result for DC based on Metacritic as I am a good one based on review sites I trust. Neither of us are going to win this argument, but in my own personal aggregate review system I'm confident it will be AAA.

And I certainly won't be comparing it to Mario Kart. Not in any capacity.

I echo the same sentiments. With the exception of FM5. Apart from looking better, it's literally not doing anything that the series hasn't done before. And yeah, this delay (if true) *is* enough to put me off getting a PS4 at launch... there's simply no benefit in me getting one that early (and I'll probably save ~$100 purely by waiting anyway). There's no other exclusive racer that interests me on that console (is there even another one? Might be a different story if they hadn't shut down Studio Liverpool, the fuckers) so in the meantime I'll just be happy to be lost amongst all the PC sims that are out right now or will be in a month or two.

This hasn't been confirmed, its an anonymous source, nobody has really heard of this website, RUSHY is at home with his precious newborn. We will know within 24 hours if this is true, then everyone can jump off cliffs, others can point at them and laugh, and a majority of Gaf users can say "well, that's unfortunate" and move on to getting hyped for what IS actually launching this year.

I waited to respond to your post, because now this thread has surpassed every DC thread you posted in mere span of a few hours. Whereas it took 3 weeks for the GamesCom gameplay thread to hit 41 replies.

So even if we use GAF as some sort metric to this game's popularity, its simply not true that its a major title. You simply tried to blow this up to be bigger than it really is, for obvious reasons. The fact that you put "minus maybe Killzone" is ridiculous. Killzone is their big first party release like Forza is Microsofts. If either of those 2 were delayed, that would be a blow worth raising a storm over.

I want you to know one thing, no BS, i hope you are right. I hope this game is as good as the best PGR titles, as good as GT, Forza and all the other great ones. I truly do, not just for developers sake, because ive been somewhat shitting on their game in this thread without even playing it.

I love the genre, i just have very little hope this game will be any good based of what i have seen so far and ive seen every video i could find. It looks rough and unfinished. Which is why i am so flabbergasted that there is so much outrage that it may be delayed. I am sure some people looked forward to it, but its being treated like its Halo 5, Mario Kart, Call of Duty or something.

Honestly, I would have liked to play this game if it came out at launch mainly because it's on PS + though but I don't particularly mind as I hope killzone will tide me over until IMO some better titles come out such as inFAMOUS and Destiny. But I would love it if they replaced DC with Knack though.

I keep hearing different versions of this, but how much of the game (DC) would we have gotten on PS plus for free? And would it have been permanent? Or a crappy 1 hour demo?

You are able to unlock the platinum trophy with the ps+ edition I am led to believe.

Thats a good way to measure it, id say Watch Dogs being delayed is a massive blow, to both consoles. Its one of the most talked about next gen games. Its a game i would call "AAA", despite the term being used loosely and everyone having their own meaning behind what it really means.

Thing is, they nearly act as if the DS4 had been delayed - THEN you could question the whole launch of the console ;)

launch lineup has taken a hit. that said launch games are almost alwyas mediocre. We all know ps4 will have all the best games down the line. FF15, KH3, infamous SS, MGS5, Uncharted 4, god of war , etc... are all gonna be on ps4 at some point so it doesn't matter what the trolls say.

I have no idea why people are agreeing with this. GAF is not one person, you cannot sum up shit like this. If this was the case GAF hates and loves everything. Such an idiotic reductive statement.

Yeah, but prior to the delay, a lot of GAF was going on about how terrible Watchdogs was looking in the recent videos. A whole lot of "preorder cancelled" posts, just like in this thread.

Is it really impossible to imagine that there were people were counting on DC for launch and weren't interested in Killzone, Knack, indie games or multiplat games that wouldn't have a tax of 399/499 to play?

Why are you upset that people are disappointed?

Is it all of a sudden okay to do the generalisation thing that everybody usually mocks?
