I've always taken Leadbetter with the required grain of bullshit, but now I'm going to be a lot more careful about taking DF as a whole at face value in the future. That's a shame, they do good work a lot of the time... or did at any rate.

While I think it's funy and/or fishy that their setting ended up making the difference between versions seem smaller, I can't help but think of this quote (paraphrased) when people talk about conspiracy and bias

PS4 has HDCP, so that means DF captured their footage via component cables and not HDMI. The quality will definitely take a hit in that regard.
Unless they used an HDMI splitter to bypass the HDCP encryption, but is apparently illegal to do, so we need clarification on how exactly they captured their footage with the Elgato game capture HD card.

That's fine. I understand a lot of Xbox One fans were happy about it because the high contrast made their console's version looking much better.
I am however, annoyed at armchair detectives who quickly deduced that it was on purpose to make Xbox One's version look better, rather than use the fucking proof right there in the article.
I'm not surprised that a lot of people think there's a GAF hivemind because these idiots are making all of us look bad.

For the record, I really don't think they did it on purpose.
Difference between the version is more massive than I thought. Ps4 is running on high/ultra while xbone is at medium. Ps4 is very close to the pc version.
Huge difference is the ps4 running 44% higher resolution and at better framerate.
So much for games not showing the extra performance. Leaves no doubt into what system is more powerful.

Damn, pretty crazy that they'd say this much. Hopefully they redo their comparison. To be fair, they did mention in the article that their was a difference in default contrast and that they didn't change either PS4 or XB1 from the default. Which is weird now because they're saying Jackfrags did. Maybe he did some editing on his PC.
Also, I think we should be pointing more of the blame at these review events and the forced use of different capture equipment.

there's no way they did it intentionally. The article itself clearly states on several occasions the PS4 version was superior to the Xbox One. If that's the case, "altering" the image to make your own analysis look wrong is insane.

Aside from Eurogamer articles, the main business of DF is making their own capture devices (designed for press use).

Anyone else have trouble sleeping last night knowing that some people on the internet thought the xbone version of the game looked better? Very upsetting.

Probably a BlackMagic capture device of some kind. Which allows 1080p at 30fps or 720p at 60fps, but uncompressed footage.
The Elgato offers the above, but compressed captured footage to MP4 container.
It wouldn't be the first time when their conclusion would be quite far from what you see in the videos, as they often highlight the things that are close to their own believes/prejudices and downplay the others. So watching the videos is the better option, as you can see what bothers you and what not.

No sir it's not. Not even close. It uses USB2.0 and encodes the signal at a laughable 30Mbps bitrate, even Avermedia LGP is miles better.
