...uh?...i think x360 had games in 1080p as the ps3....i think xb1 will have 1080p games as the ps4...i think most pc nowday can do at least 1080p..

Hahahahahahahhaha... good one. Hahahahahahahha...

Basically, if you at the Beyond3D list of rendering resolutions for last generation, PS3 had a handful of native 1080p games. Xbox 360 had even less. In most cases, these 1080p games were indie games with simple graphics. And they were more rare than the Loch Ness Monster, or Bigfoot.

Vast, VAST majority of PS3 and 360 games ran at 1280x720 or LESS. End of argument.

You've got to be kidding me. 1:1 pixel mapping is HUGELY important and the lack of it looks like shit on a flat panel. One of the reasons I hate modern display technology (especially LCD).

Besides, you've said it yourself that less than 1080p isn't next-gen sooooo...

again wit this theory...i said that for a reason......pixel perfection is important in photoshop to brush things or in autocad....not in cod to aim while running i dont think u will have that freaking pixel that istead to make have a headshot u will not...pls

and if this happen will happen every 1000000 times...(just random high number )

average joe will not see feel and cant tell any difference playing games at 1080p or 720p...

Yeah. Average person who isn't blind as a bat wouldn't be able to tell ANY difference whatsoever between these two pics.

ppl know what 1080p is....i was trying to say this..im not interested in a war between platforms

Again, nonsense. Visual clarity is an important part of aiming and target acquisition.

Nothing to do with war between platforms. Fact of the matter is, 1080p was EXTREMELY RARE on last-gen consoles. Therefore, most people are used to seeing 720p games like Battlefield, Gears, or Uncharted. Or 600p like Call of Duty.

and controllers are far FAR..FAAAAAAAR away from being pixel perfects

Wrong again. Controller analog sticks are capable of extremely minute aiming adjustments, provided that the game's aiming sensitivity curve is implemented well (Call of Duty is one example of a game with very precise analog aiming).

In laymen's terms, it means that if you push the analog stick very, very slightly, then you move the in-game cursor very, very slowly. Hence, pixel-perfect (or sub-pixel-perfect, even) precision.

yes all true....that in reality ar far far faaar away form the pixel perfection

that traslate yoshida words in a nice pr think

(i need to konw a person that can move a controller pixel by pixel i a 1080p scene ur fun man ..really fun :D)

Wrong. Any person can do it. Turn your controller sensitivity down to like 2 or 3 in Call of Duty. Then push your controller's right analog stick extremely slightly in one direction. You can then see your cursor move extremely slowly on screen... from pixel to pixel.

Is any of this too complicated for you to understand? Do I have to use smaller words?

So are we just killing time in this thread until Activision or IGN back down from the claim that footage recorded at the review event was in 1080p. We already know this is a lie, we have the videos, just come out and admit it.

Image quality is important to me and good image quality isn't possible when up scaling on a fixed pixel display.

oh my gosh..sure that is important...my point was different....anyway ..okay

everyone also the average joe will notice the difference

pixel perfect is usefull coz console controllers are pixel perfect....etc etc

sometime is hard...really hard...

I play the game by aiming. Exactly as I described above.

When I'm running and gunning with a submachine gun, I use quick movements of my analog stick in close quarters situations.

When I'm sniping from long range w/ a sniper rifle or AR, I use fine, minute, precise, slow movements of the analog stick -- aka, using pixel-perfect precision -- to line up my shot onto an enemy target (who is usually comprised of just a few pixels, since he's so far away).

Am I going too fast for you? Should I slow down?

Thats just terrible. Is this from the opening level that scene? I'm gonna go check it out see how the X360 compares.

okay ...me and other millions of user been wrong for a decade saying that controllers are not precise enough for shooters...

ah you should call valve too..saying that they are doing shits trying to improve the controller technology and reach the mouse (that isnt pixel perfect) precision...you should repost and explain how to use a ps/xb controller...to them

you doing right..just lying at urself

Did I say controller is better than mouse for shooters? NOPE. NO, I DID NOT.

My point was that a controller analog stick is perfectly capable of "pixel-perfect precision." That is, fine movements of the aiming cursor that matter on a pixel-to-pixel basis.

If controllers aren't precise enough for shooters, then how come Call of Duty and Battlefield on console outsell the PC versions by millions and millions of copies?

Just because mouse is arguably better, doesn't mean controllers aren't good enough for most people.

Uhm can i ask how old are you?..
I think my attachment to the pc rig..is coz im 36.and i grow up with keyboard and mouse...i have all the ps.....(i must admitt tht i got still all less the ps3 that i sold to a friend some months ago)...and the x360 but still i feel not comfortable as with the k+m combo...

Maybe u used to play more with the console?

42 - which makes the childish comments about your CAPs even more ridiculous ;)

I've been there and done that maybe? Did tech support for games, running people over editing autoexec.bat and config.sys over the phone (honestly mind numbing). So maybe I just don't like being in front of a PC so much? Don't know really.

Yes because a fucking mouse is more intuitive than a controller for specific things. For FPS games, you point and click to shoot. Guess what? A mouse is better than a controller for this! Its more precise because you literally drag, point, click without varying amounts of force. Analogue sticks have dead zones and your digits/the amount of force applied changes depending the position of the sticks. Hence, for point and shoot games they are worse.

Also, you'd find it interesting that a mouse is worse than a controller for third person games for the opposite reasons.

I shouldn't need to explain why Valve is developing their controller like they are. Hint: the Steambox is not just a desktop PC that sits on a desk.

millions of pc have pirated copies.
controller are not pixel perfect..arent the mouse ...and clearly arent the analog sticks that are far away to be accurate as a mouse with high dpi

ps im not saying are not good..to enjoy a game...im saying pixel perfection aiming....from yoshida was totally a pr bs okay?

Lol what a silly and illogical post.
No, the logic's really simple. You or anyone else saying that they can tell the difference in their situation means nothing, because we don't know if you actually can or if you're just imagining vibrant Monster Cable pixels. On the other hand, we know that IGN was making stuff up. IGN doesn't prove that people can tell the difference (and they sure can, in the right situation), but it does prove that in some situations people can't tell the difference.

IGN is one single data point, but you could do a test where you ask people to adjust a chair to whatever distance they'd like from the TV and then show them a 720p version of the game and a 1080p version of the game and ask them which one's better. You now have two sets of data, how far people sit away from the screen, and whether they can tell the difference.

Is that why Black Ops 2 had ~500,000 active players at any given time of the day on console, whereas the PC version showed ~2000 active players, on the multiplayer menu screen?

WRONG. We're going in circles. Do I need to explain this all over again? Read my post above. A controller is perfectly capable of "pixel-perfect precision" because of the way an analog stick's principle of accelerative motion works. A game can be developed and fine-tuned to have sub-pixel precision when you move the analog stick very, very slowly. There are countless examples of games with this kind of analog precision out there. What part of this do you NOT UNDERSTAND?

Call of Duty is "not playable way?" What?

Call of Duty has some of the best analog aiming controls I've ever used in a game. So does the Halo series.

Put him on ignore and move on. How difficult is it? What you posted was way more annoying.

dofry

That's "Dr." dofry to you.
its hard to follow conversations when you ignore a poster that has lots and lots of posts in a thread.

But if most of them are shite then the conversation is usually stuck in some pointless nonsense. Easier to ignore in my opinion.
