Andrew House: PS4 sold through 2.1 million units worldwide as of 12/1, 700K in EU/AU

Where has Xbox One yet to release yet? Or have they released world wide in all territories including Asia, Australia, Germany, England, etc, etc

Just wondering because i have not really kept up on the Xbox One launch that much.

They have released only in 13 countries. Their rollout will span all of 2014 and we still don't know if they would launch everywhere by then

I know, I live here. 2,1M worldwide today means that Europe had less than 1M sold through on launch day.
As hard as it is to find a PS4 in NA right now they're still restocking and selling which in plus to "more than 1M" units sold on launch there means than it leaves less than 1M units sold in Europe on launch day.
So, basically, Europe is behind NA in terms of first 24h PS4 sales.
This may be due to European supply being lower though. Sony may intentionally direct more PS4 to US market because this is where the real battle is happening.

As of Sunday, not as of today. So that Europe allocation sold out in the first 24/48 hours, just like the US.

EU had much lower numbers than i thought and UK got about one third of them .
Sony really are going after the market that help MS this gen UK\US .

exactly, i guess they think that europe and other territories will favour them (not only sonyland, but also because xbo isn't launching everywhere this year) and they are focusing on terrtories they lost to XB past gent. Wise move as long they do not forget the territories that helped them stay relevant not so long ago.

I shouldn't have said "very" unlikely, but it's unlikely. Making a tight deadline like next holiday would result in lowered quality as in Uncharted 3, and I am pretty sure they don't want that again. And yes, next holiday is a tight deadline. Time including before PS4 was even nailed down + resources taken by TLoU =/= Uncharted 4 time.

Uncharted 3 was made in 2 years though. This will have had 3. Also, TLoU had its own team. If anything they can bring in a few people from that team to scale up the Uncharted 4 team when Druckmann and Straley are in pre-production for their new game. There's no way Sony is not gonna have a massive blockbuster for the holidays next year.

700k for the EU explains why I don't have one even though I pre-ordered in September, stocks must have been the bare minimum so that they could flood NA.

Let's hope I'm in Wave No.2!

Very nice indeed. They'll easily reach, if not surpass the 3 million mark in global sales this year, and provided the console launches in Japan early next year, that 5 million mark till March seems a bit too humble. If they can keep the production continuous, that number could very well be 6 or 6.5 million.

Much as I enjoy Sony's work, you are getting WAY ahead of events.

- Destiny Beta: Destiny is an unknown due to its ambitious nature, and it's a BETA... a demo at best, not a noteworthy system-selling exclusive.

- DriveClub: It's an unknown. Could really go either way in terms of quality, and even given it hits the mark there could be a sales non-event.

- inFamous: The series has yet to hit it out of the park in terms of quality or sales.

- 1886: Complete unknown. A shooter from the makers of God of War and Daxter games on PSP? Technically it's going to great... gameplay-wise, complete unknown.

- Uncharted: Very unlikely.

Sony's upcoming year is not looking that good in terms of software... yet.

So, you are saying that there are too many new IPs, along with Uncharted and inFamous? :D

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that if you don't happen to have any consoles to sell, you're going to sell zero. Sony can't sell what they don't have.

Meanwhile over at Gamestop.com there's a huge banner on the front page saying "XBOX ONE IN STOCK NOW".
You don't need to go out on a limb,I'm not aware of the availability there.

Yes MS not launching in those other countries till 2014 really does help them .
They can send a fewer units there and it being harder to get also helps marketing in some ways .

One of those was mine! Great news, I figured as much but it's nice that the new console are off to a healthy start. Now if only more people would buy the WiiU I'd be totally relieved.

Man...i swear i lucked out so much being able to get my PS4 on Black Friday Midnight opening at Gamestop....the line was looooong and my hopes fizzled away when i get near the end of the line...but something happened when Gamestop opened the doors..people started grabbing all the empty PS4 and Xbox1 display boxes thinking they were real PS4's and X1's in them and they looked dumb founded standing there only to lose their spot in the three checkout counters ...i got in one line at about 30th spot in line...i got the 2nd to last PS4!!

This all happened AFTER i had originally went to a different gamestop and stood in line up in the cold for 1 hour until 1130pm..a half hour before their midnight black friday opening...then a gamestop employee came out and got half way though the line and shouted out "no more ps4's but xbox ones still available" ...my heart sunk and i felt so sad knowing it was all over and i was not going to get a PS4....then suddenly i remembered there was another Gamestop about 3 miles away as silly as it seems...i drove their and got in the loooong line there at 1145pm and as explained above in the first paragraph..this is how it all happened and i came home with a PS4 in utter BLISS~~!!!

Congrats man, that feeling must have been wonderful! I preordered mine in June but was still anxious on launch day even though I knew I was guaranteed one. The hype was killing me, I couldn't even sleep the night leading up to the 29th.

We had several reports about the Xbox One be more available in US on Black Friday, so I think is plausible that XOne outsold PS4 in this period.

Sure, it might have sold more units during a couple of days because one system was sold out and the other was still going through launch stock from the previous week.

Uncharted 3 was made in 2 years though. This will have had 3. Also, TLoU had its own team. If anything they can bring in a few people from that team to scale up the Uncharted 4 team when Druckmann and Straley are in pre-production for their new game.

A lot of speculation... a full-on ~95 Metacritic target game within a year of launch doesn't seem likely to me. Either they'll make a decent one like the first Uncharted, or it's not coming within a year. It's too tight given their likely ambitions.

Though, if anyone can do it, it's ND.

There's no way Sony is not gonna have a massive blockbuster for the holidays next year.

True... but it doesn't need to come from Sony themselves. Besides Sony often has trouble finding massive blockbusters from their first party. Their only one for like a decade was Gran Turismo. They still don't really have a "massive" one besides that. I guess Uncharted is almost there a-la Gears.

Alright, thanks for the added info

No problem. Here's the official list for reference:

To do that, and in order to meet demand, we have adjusted the number of markets that will receive Xbox One in November to 13 markets, including Australia, Austria, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Mexico, Spain, United Kingdom, United States and New Zealand, in November.

And some countries that might be seeing it during the earlier half of 2014:
We remain committed to launching Xbox One in Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Netherlands, Norway, Russia, Sweden, Switzerland, as soon as possible in 2014.

I am not saying new IPs are a bad thing.

I am saying they are unproven without traveling to the future. Sony's first-party year based on that list is a question mark -- neither good nor bad but unknown.

How many more PS4 will be sold there in December do you think?
500k maybe?

These Asia countries are not going to sell that many, as much as we like it to be :p Probably a few hundred thousand at most, capped at 400K to 500K. At least this is my prediction. The markets for these countries seems to be growing but still smaller than EU's markets.

These numbers seem weird. They shipped more than 1/3 of the Euro stock to the UK and only 450K units for all of continental Europe?

They shipped the most to what were previously considered xbox stronghold's...and you find that weird why? They succeeded in gaining the heads up in their previously weakest markets as a result.

1 million in Japan alone at launch? No way. It's 2.5 times smaller than the US, there is no way it's going to do a million. I expect 300k~400k.

The 2nd wave launch is about twice NA too. Anyways, there's no telling what they'll do after 3 months of console blue ball; Japan has a tendency to do whatever the hell it wants relative to the rest of the world.

Only 2.1 mil worldwide? Damn, Sony...is you even trying!? ;p
Seriously though, you guys are welcome because everyone knows that we at Neogaf are the main reason for the PS4 sales. Congrats!

Now focus all that money into strengthening your first party studios even more.

Forget Asia and Latin America - Australians have plenty of cash to burn so they should send more PS4s here. It's not cool that we have to wait 6 months to get a PS4.

This is a fun game, can we play it with titanfall, quantum break, sunset overdrive and halo? They'd fit almost exactly in some of your slots above

List wars are stupid. One fact that won't change is that the Xbox One is 100 dollars more. Sony will dominate Microsoft worldwide. Microsoft may as well hang it up in Europe and Japan.
