It's over. Reggie's demeanor during the VGX interview made it very clear that this was coming. I could just tell the big "Mario will save us" plan didn't work here, especially if it didn't work in Japan (or Europe).
The WiiU's price alone (and PS4/XB1 shortages) should have at least guaranteed 300k+ in November sales.

Is it fair to say that the US has been the WIiU's strongest market, too?
My best estimate was just under 400k based on Mario which we know has under performed [elsewhere].

Ugh, this sucks if true. As others have said, I really hope X, the next Zelda and SMTxFE make it out before Nintendo if/before they pull the plug on the Wii U.

You can sell 150k in February or March or April.
You don't sell 150k in November. November and December are suppose to be the biggest selling months for hardware.

For a thought exercise, double the prediction and then find Aquamarine's post of historical November sales and see where it ranks.
Pachter could be off by 100% and Wii U would still be one of the worst selling systems of the last 15-20 years.

I'd say he might have some concrete info since npd is in three days. But you never know.
150k would mean it was almost TRIPLED by the GC in a similar November post-launch period. That's sub-Dreamcast numbers.
WII U is truly the new deamcast except with worse games.

I bought a WiiU in November as did 2 other of my 20+ year gaming friends. None of us bought a XB1/PS4 and none of us are planning on doing so anytime soon. Additionally, over the weekend I bought some more goodies for it at Toys R Us. While there, I saw 2 XB1 sell, and 5 WiiUs. No PS4s, out of stock.
I asked the clerk if that was odd and he flat out told me that since Thanksgiving they are selling like 15 WiiUs a week, which is outdone the XB1/PS4. I was like
, but he just said that the parents are coming out of the woodwork and that everyone is buying 3D world with it.

I have no idea what Nintendo's plans for the console would be at this point if it really sells this bad. I mean, they can't just drop it without destroying the loyalty of the customers who are left, and it's going to take at least 2 years for them to build a new console that can compete with the PS4 and Xbox One. Maybe support it through 2014 and toss in a bunch of HD up-ports to give it a semblance of titles in 2015 until they can get a new console out that year?

a Pokemon MMO won't do shit.
both Dragon Quest and Final Fantasy tried the MMO route and those installments sold like 10% of what a regular installment sold. 10% of the current mainline pokemon games is nothing to write home about.
an MMO would only serve to make money with low sales since those games can turn big profits with very low sales numbers.
Time for Nintendo to move on if 150k is accurate. No sense dragging this out when the sales are that poor. Release the previously announced 2014 games, start developing new hardware immediately, and move all major unannounced games (maybe a TP-style dual release for Zelda) to the next console.
Worse games? Haha good one. While the Dreamcast had some good games, none of them come up to Super Mario 3D World, Pikmin 3 or Wonderful 101, at least in my view

Yeah it will, Pokemon carried Nintendo on its back since it came out.
A Pokemon MMO full fleshed will definitely save it, people been asking for this, wanted this.
With the age we are in today, a MMO of this sort would be soo immersive in real life its crazy. It will hit our society harder than WoW has hit it.
Pokemon MMO will save the Wii U, however it would be stupid to use it on a console like this.

Pachter's investor note specifically mentions his predictions for November sales are 150K, not 149K.
Yeah geez. As if 2x is the absolute limit of what it could be. That number by Pachter means absolutely nothing and the reactions in this thread to nothing is hilarious.
The primary reason the Wii U exists is as a platform for Nintendo's 1st party titles. They're not going to pull the plug on its production before games in development are released.
So lets say the number was 2x that. Let's say it was 300k.
That's still lower than most of GameCube's best November numbers.
