But it's about principles in my book.
Sheik, a character from each of the other races, different Links. This is going to sell a lot in the west. Probably highest selling musou.
but hmmm, how many playable characters can you fit? There's Zelda, link, ganon, tingle...?
And that's exactly my point. To me, and certainly others too, this looks much more as an attempt to make TLoZ more accessible to others. Not that that's a bad thing, hell, the more the merrier. But it becomes a problem in my eyes if they ignore a large group of (almost) lifelong fans what they've been longing for.
And yes, I know it's not being developed by Nintendo and that Zelda U isn't being delayed by this whatsoever. But it's about principles in my book.
I hope they aren't scrapping Wii U Zelda and dumping the assets into this instead. I've never played a Dynasty Warriors so I'll reserve my judgement, but I'm not particularly excited by this announcement.
I think this is the best design for Link... ever.
I think I am anticipating this more than the idea of a new Zelda game.
I wish the Zelda franchise was treated just as well as the Persona games. Although the Persona games get put into different genres but at least they are, you know, good.

But this makes no sense. How are Nintendo ignoring a large group of lifelong fans? If this has no bearing on Zelda U, and isn't delaying it in the slightest, then what's the problem?

They were working with what they were given. Sakamoto wanted simple, NES style gameplay, and they had to comply. His decisions pretty much why the game turned out like it did. That game was so completely unremarkable in every sense of the word that I wouldn't be able to point to anything and call it great except maybe some of the CG cutscenes. The action that Team Ninja was supposed to bring was lightweight and entirely boring with a broken control scheme and dodge mechanic. We can pin that on Sakamoto too who deserves just as much blame if not more, but at the end of the day I'm completely unsympathetic to Team Ninja. Even if we forgive them for Other M it should be apparent that they are not a top developer capable of delivering on Metroid after releasing the likes of Ninja Gaiden 3.
While I disagree with your opinion, maybe this is the design that's going to be used for Zelda U? That would be awesome, if true.I agree, another reason I'm so upset. Such a fantastic link design wasted on a shit tier developer.
People generally don't like wasting money on a series that's failed to improve for so long. I played a bunch of the games in the PS2 era and none of them were worth anything.

PS2 era. I don't remember which ones. I just hate seeing good IP's like Zelda and One Piece being wasted on this.
What's the point of this post except trolling?
I genuinely think Musou is better than Zelda.

So you haven't played their recent games but you're confident that Zeldas being wasted with this? Based off.. Ps2?PS2 era. I don't remember which ones. I just hate seeing good IP's like Zelda and One Piece being wasted on this.

Explain why or log off.I don´t want to live on this planet anymore.gif
Musou is huge in Japan.
How are you getting anything out of this game's story from a fucking alpha/work in progress video.
I'm excited for this game, as well as other Musou and Zelda fans.
Calm down.
Looking at this thread, a good number of people are excited for this. There is a dedicated audience for these kinds of games in both the West and Japan. You getting upset that this doesn't feature the traditional Zelda dungeon crawling and exploration aspects makes no sense. Its not meant to replace that. Otherwise we'd have a mainline Zelda made by Omega Force...and nobody wants that. And how is this gravitating to people who want a mature Zelda?....its a Musou game! They are over the top, unrealistic and silly as games get.
And dude......rape? Really? C'mon son...its videogames.

I ain't mad, I mean just like I said before, as long as Zelda U and all other canon Zelda aren't going to be affected by this (which is the case), I couldn't care less. It's just I don't understand the reason yet, besides the fact that the Dynasty games are obviously very popular in Japan.
LOL at people thinking Zelda is too big an IP for Koei to deal with. Let me know when Zelda gets a monument that rivals this.
It's weird that so many people complain about Musou being unchanging yet are quick to defend the Pokemon series (and this is coming from someone who dislikes Musou and loves Pokemon).

Gundam I think is by far the biggest IP Musou has gotten itself involved in. The Zelda IP is quite weak in Japan on consoles.
This is the silliest thing to be afraid of.
this topic is full of insane posts.
the most insane are the ones that think Zelda Wii U doesn't exist anymore and Hyrule Warriors replaced it.
Iwata clearly stated in the Direct that this is NOT a mainline Zelda game. It is being developed by Koei, not the EAD Zelda team.

I want a Zelda dance game!
Also, Persona is a spinoff of the Shin Megami Tensei series.

what do you mean accessible? Zelda's Zelda. Anyone can play Zelda. come on.
what 'principles' are you trying to justify. they're not ignoring fans ( hell a LOT of Zelda fans wanted a Zelda game with better combat than what the original titles put off) if that/s what you're thinking.
it's just a spinoff.
They aren't ruining anything. The sanctity of the Zelda series isn't being tainted by the existence of an simple off shoot game. I'm not sure what principles you believe that Ninty is betraying by allowing this to occur.
So you haven't played their recent games but you're confident that Zeldas being wasted with this? Based off.. Ps2?
I was being saracstic, people who say Dynasty Warriors is repetitive are the same people that love Pokemon.
I kind of hope this sells better than the comparable 'real' Zeldas. Nintendo needs a wake-up.
What does this even means.
But it becomes a problem in my eyes if they ignore a large group of (almost) lifelong fans what they've been longing for.
Was the Gundam Musou game any good though?
I don't think IP size matters when the games are still the same junk that Koei has made for over a decade.
I don't see how the Zelda IP suddenly changes this.
