Big shipment of PS4 at Target today?

I personally don't understand the desperate need to have one with the software line ups being lackluster especially on the ps4. But I guess just being able to tell your friends is enough for some people.
1 - people like video games
2 - last generation went on a really long time, and now people want the latest thing with better graphics
3 - people also buy consoles for the games to come, not only for games out right now

But yeah you're probably right, most people are only buying these to brag to their friends.

Was Canada Xbox-land last gen? I always assumed MS dominated the whole anglosphere with the 360, but I've been reading posts here recently which contradict that.

As a member of CanadaGAF I would say that the 360 was the market leader here, although probably not as strong as the UK or the US.

The UK apparently got a large shipment last week or so, there was an advert in the Metro newspaper. Or Evening Standard: "more stock arriving in all major retailers" or something along those lines.

4. There are enough good games to start with unlike the assumption there is nothing to buy. Just because there nothing somebody wants it doesn't mean no good games. Never understood the logic of not counting big third party titles when there are the top 5 games in the chart.

I doubt people dropping $400+ to just brag. At least no way to prove this.

There have been PS4s available several times the last few days on Amazon. I bought one from them on the 9th. They had some last night, and even an hour ago you could get one. Just keep checking.

World wide sales numbers how do they work.

I'm talking for where I live in canada. Both have been in stock fairly often and they sell out usually by closing or next day. If you check a few times a week for restock odds are someone will have them and you'll be able to get one without much trouble. Sure it's not casual walk in a buy yet but its not like the wii where its like a pack of cougars circling its prey as soon at it appears.

Where do you live? I'm in a pretty big Canadian city and I haven't seen a PS4 since November. Xbox I've seen in the last couple of weeks.

Tuesday's The Sun had a full page ad along the same lines, page 25.

Yup. The staple games are all there; CoD, FIFA, Madden, BF4, Lego, Skylanders and AC4 etc. Those games alone are more than enough to sustain strong sales until first party output gets serious / more interesting games hit the shelves. On the PS4 side it really helps to have a steady stream of indie and F2P games to keep you busy.

Probably true tho. Why buy ps4 except to brag? The bombing begins.

Killzone and ACIV were reason enough for me. The PS4 price is already pretty low, I believe it won't go down significantly over the next, say, two years. So, why not jump aboard the shiny next gen ship now.

try costco. Glenarden, Maryland

There's only 1 Xbone left, so right now Xbones are more popular than PS4s

There are at least 5 bones behind the one. They all have black handles. Maybe Costco wanted to move the bone palette for the ps4 palette and decided to leave a few bones out. It's probably an appropriate ratio of what they will sell compared to ps4.

Someone should take a picture tomorrow when the xbone is the only thing left.

Went to Walmart here in Clearwater, florida and they had around 10 Xboned. No ps4, but when I aske them when they are getting more. They told me that they don't know when and will not let them know when more are coming because people will be camping at Walmart. Lol

oh yeah, and if places like Target and Walmart got a PS4 shipment, it may have arrived via fedex/ups sometime this afternoon and not in the usual trailer unloads. be there tomorrow before they open!

I am regretting my PS4 purchase.

Now what to play tonight ...

Warframe? Res0gun? Assassins Creed? Need for Speed? Don't Starve ? Doki Doki? Tiny Brains? NBA2K ? Blacklight? Contrast? Trine 2? Flower? Sound Shapes? Knack?

Meh, nothing to play tonight. More puzzle and dragons I guess.

Ps4 and Xbox one are not that hard to get a hold of at this point. Stores are getting stock often enough that you can find them in store or online if you casually check now and then.

Microsoft is shipping xbones more often so they are easier to come by but the must have rush of the holiday season is dying out.

i can only speak for myself, but i love BF4 and PS4 is where most of GAF plays.

4.2m people think otherwise.

Yeah. This lying must stop. He can't possibly be seeing units sell out in his area. I say waterboard him.
What a ridiculous thing to say. Shame on you.

I have a few friends who can't find them here in Houston, so hopefully they'll be able to next Sunday when Best Buy gets more in.

That would be both funny and sad. Prolly won't happen. I'm kinda curious how the bones ended up on top of the pile.

Unless that was Microsoft's plan. Plug in the PS4 to unlock the 1080p secret sauce of the Xbox One. PS4 is actually just a Xbone accessory.

Why is it so hard for so hard for some of y'all to understand that people buy consoles for third party games.

Not necessarily, I wanted to jump in early and watch the platform evolve, something i missed with the previous gens (the only other consoles I bought on launch were the wii and the dreamcast)

The problem I have however, is that while jumping in early means there is little to nothing to keep me as entertained as my immense backlog of the ps3, it also means that i have essentially tethered myself to this platform, i'm gonna be here for it's best moments and it's worst moments.

And in the end I wouldn't have it any other way, why wait to get something you know you are going to buy eventually if but to save yourself maybe $50? Life is too short for that kind of invested decision making, this console is gonna be there for at least another decade, no time like the present to experience it.

Find some stock. PS4 has been getting shipments to store shelves, Sony has an incredible supply pouring into stores, and yet each time the shipments vanish from shelves within hours or a day at most. Some countries in Europe and telling customers not to expect more stock until March. I think it's fair to say there is widespread reporting to the fact that the Xbox One's are now consistently on store shelves and are no longer selling out. That's not to say that Xbox One isn't still selling well, just that supply is now meeting and exceeding demand.

As to the Microsoft is shipping more often, that's not actually the case I don't think we can say. It's simply that Microsoft [correctly] strategically targeted the United States as being the country that needed a constant supply of their Xbox One, thus there was a reduction in launch countries and the US overwhelmingly has received the bulk of the stock, the US and the UK. Sony's stock is spread into over 50 countries at this point, dwarfing Microsoft's touchdowns at this point. And even then we got some news that Sony has diverted stock that was expected in some of those 50 countries due to overwhelming demand in the US and UK, which they still cannot keep up with.

I think it's fair to say that PS4 has a pretty high level of demand and that neither Sony or Microsoft have a demonstrable advantage in stock supply that I can see, only that one has higher demand.

I personally don't understand the desperate need to have one with the software line ups being lackluster especially on the ps4. But I guess just being able to tell your friends is enough for some people.

All launch software lineups are lackluster as far as I'm concerned. I've always said this. But for some, it's positive to get to know a piece of hardware, learn its idiosyncrasies, learn its flaws and demand for changes in a community. For some they make no distinction between AAA and indie, and look forward to the thriving landscape that is already beginning to build on PS4 or Xbox One when its indie program really gets underway. For others, the diverse explosion of multiplatform titles like The Division, Witcher 3, Valiant Hearts: The Great War, Child of Light, Secret Ponchos, Transistor, Below, Watch Dogs, Wolfenstein: The New Order, The Witness, Mad Max, Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes, Dying Light, Destiny, Project Cars, Thief, and a whole host of other unknowns but surely coming games like Call of Duty and Assassin's Creed, there are a ton of games people will play all year. And the small group of games they have this second along with testing all the technology out is 'enough' for the moment until the deluge of games quickly begins anew in a month or two. This is seriously not even enough to be a drought yet :p

Have you seen Yakuza?

One more month and the drought is done for me.

honestly i've been using the system practically every day since Nov. 15. There's still no drought for me. And they just released Don't Starve which I'm enjoying alot. Whenever I'm not gaming on the thing I'm watching other people on it on livestream. Non stop entertainment :)

Over the course of this next week, Sony said they're reshipping most places. I saw Amazon had a notice about the 12th or 15th (going off my memory which I can't always rely on). So sales are only going to spike again once the stock comes back!

Just checked and it says January 19th they'll be in stock again on amazon. I can assume major retailers will be the same. Great news!

I like how big z just bails out of the thread as soon as people start calling him out on his utter bullshit.

I have a life outside of gaf. I cant spend 24/7 online arguing with children over stupid garbage. Don't expect a follow up when you bitch me out again.

Ps4 is not that hard to get if you check now and then for stock. Ive seen them in stores(Walmart, costco, target, toysrus) a number of times and if you check inventory online now and then, especially bestbuy/futureshop you'll probably be able to get one without much trouble. Sure if you randomly walk into a store looking for one odds are they'll be sold out but its not like finding Waldo, they're not that hard to get if you really want one.

Any machine that literally cannot consistently be kept on the shelves even after the Holiday is over, despite having the largest allocated launch supplies in history, is by definition hard to find. Anytime you have to subscribe to a stock alert app just to try to get lucky and get one, you're in the 'hard to find' territory. Anytime you have to go on Amazon and still put down a pre-order for incoming future stock, it's probably time to call it "hard to get."

I've seen PS4's in stock once or twice too now; and then they're immediately gone again. Would you say the fact that I managed to see them indicates that they're not hard to get? Somebody has to see the system at some point, right? Somebody is buying these things, Sony is shipping insane amounts. The fact that you get lucky from time to time is not really a good indicator, considering the accumulated aggregate of all the widespread reports we have. So what you're basically saying, when we strip it right down, is that unless nobody ever sees the things on shelves, it cannot be defined as 'hard to get.'

Truth. I've seen 0 PS4's and a pretty healthy stock of Xbone's at my local Best Buy.

Ah Ok. Verendus keeps saying that one Yakuza game is coming to the USA on PS4, but we'll see if that pans out :p

Hopefully he's right, Nagoshi hinted at good chances of Ishin being localized, while he totally closed the door at Yakuza 5 :/
