Microsoft has owned the IP for over 10 years now...
Unfortunately....MS is just horrible dealing with gaming development....they keep destroying ips and companies....
Microsoft has owned the IP for over 10 years now...
i swear to god if ms set up another new studio just to become a killer instinct factory...
I see this happening too. Just blows my mind MS didn't acquire DH.My bet is that they pull the plug on Season 2 and just start development on a Killer Instinct 2.
I paid $20, that aint full price, what are you talking about?
Go see how much the Ultra pack costs for Australians then tell me what im talking about
Well that is the ultra pack, you get the classic KI ect with it. You didn't need to pay that you could have got the cheaper version for the FULL game.
Doesn't Microsoft operate on a "Windows Team," "Office Team," "Azure Team," mentality? Its no wonder that their game studios are organized into Halo Team, Forza Team, Fable Team, Gears Team, etc.
MS likes its rigid compartmentalization, even at the detriment of synergy. Maybe the new CEO will change this, and it'll trickle down into the game studios, but that'll take a while.

The store is region free. There's nothing stopping you paying $20.How is it different? oh it isn't, I can assure you $20 would not be the full game price for Australians.
So yeah.
Lobb is a senior ms supervisor. If Rich and Lobb stay on thats something.
That comes with KI classic doesn't it? There was a reason it cost more, you were buying two games.

I've bought many full games that came with accesories as added microtransactions. I've never include their total cost to work out the final price of a game. I've just ignored then and thought people that bought them just had more money than sense. It also comes with all accessory packs and costumes.
Game CONTENT.
Therefore, full game.
Lol, you have to change the region of your Xbox. It takes a little more time, but saves a lot of money. I do it for every purchasei make, because of the silly prices they charge on the UK store.Really, thats why i was directed to the page and paid $50 odd dollars.

you know, I'd never thought of it this way but this actually makes a lot of sense (at least as far as explaining why they do it, not in terms of justifying it)
Still i paid for the Ultra pack, a pricing tier for the game
How is it different? oh it isn't, I can assure you $20 would not be the full game price for Australians.
So yeah.
In the Ultra pack you get EVERYTHING regardless of vanilla KI, so that is the FULL game.
The Combo Breaker pack includes the first eight characters. Six Killer Instinct characters will be available at launch and this pack includes early access for two more characters. Microsoft has this priced at $19.99.
Killer Instinct Ultra Edition is $39.99. This includes the eight characters from the Combo Breaker bundle, character accessory packs, character costumes, and the original Killer Instinct arcade game.
You paid for 2 games and extras, just like the special edition of Titanfall comes with a model ect. The full GAME is $20, don't care t debate it. That'd be $30 for Aus? Not full price. The extra you paid was for the KI classic, not for your expectations of more characters (which you knew you'd have to pay for anyway ...) which are frigging coming anyway. Check Phils twitter, he said it'll continue.
Ultra is 40 dollars.$52 Ultra Edition, thats how it is,
Accept it.
A Fighting game with one character costume?
Your first fighting game i see.
And they were not micro transactions, its the top tier price for all the content.
Just realised what all the fuss is about after actually reading the news on this!
So this is another example where the development team behind a MS exclusive is gone and the i.p is kept like a shell. Halo, Gears, Killer Instinct. Someone should tap them on the shoulder and politely say: 'that's not how you do it'.

whats wrong with that? create a new studio with key members of DH and wherever else to continue work on KI is better than taking over a studio and canning whatever they were working on.
Then its a scam. Yoi shpuld have bought it in the american marketplace. 40 usd are roghly 44 ausd
Change the location of your Xbox to the USA and prepare to have your life changed. $60 games, Xbox on works. Its like a dream manWhen i went to purchase it i was directed to that page for both pricing tiers.

Oh, I don't know, how about... Rare, maybe?
What I'm supposed to see here?
If you look closely, you can see Cinder and Riptor in the background. What I'm supposed to see here?
Ken Lobb's title at Microsoft for people who keep forgetting. What I'm supposed to see here?
As a KI player im pretty surprised, and im not optimistic for the games future at all.. its the only reason i own an XBONE.
Probably going to sell it now along with my stick, MS's track record with things like this is abysmal
I think it may have been a custom engine built specifcally for KI, which means the odds are that since MS funded it, they also own it already, along with all Assets created for the game.
They're pretty big assumptions, based on no knowlege of this specific contract. i also find it hard to believe that you are in a position to state these are common business practices, when the nature of the contracts would envariably be different depending on the combination of developer and publisher.
is KI selling well?
Believe what you want. But name one title where the publisher owned the rights to the engine made by a 3rd party developer. Just one will do.
Cant wait for when they announce the developer and relative thread.Hey, remember that time when people at GAF was mad about DH developing the new Killer Instinct? Well, it's that time again.
Doesn't mean Microsoft doesn't have the ability to license the engine created for this game or they own the custom tech in their agreement.
Again: You're assuming that MS doesn't already have a license for the engine (specifically for KI 2013).As unlikely as PS4 going under from sony going bankrupt or Microsoft's CEO selling off the xbox division from the pressure of stockholders.
Now buying a lisence from amazon is a possibility. It might even be a fair deal with a no poaching clause.
This new cell phone loves to correct me in the weirdest ways.

Look at it this way: It's their game, their IP and their assets. They should be allowed to do whatever they want with it.
Who? It's a fighting game. You can't just put any development team in charge and expect success.
