Thank you. I'll go to store tonight and pick it up :)

Just worked for me too... took the clerk a couple tries because he initially said it needed to be activated there but after showing him the ad, all was well! Thanks!

Worked for me. Told him my phone number for BB Reward Zone first, then scanned the Z222 phone, then scanned the Gamers Club Card. Auto deducted $99.00. Total was $16 and then I used gift cards to pay the balance.

Sorry if been answered but can I add to my current membership? And how do you find how long you have the membership? Thanks!

Do I need to sign up for MBB before taking advantage of this deal?

Yes, you must be a MyBestBy rewards member Because the GCU attaches to your MBB membership. Once you do this deal, you simply give them your phone number or show them your MBB rewards card, and it applies the GCU benefits...

Yes. Online, I clicked on my account and then the Rewards page. It shows the date on the right side of the page.

How did you get six years of GCU? My best buy said you can only go up to 4. Will check this out tomorrow.

Also can you guys link me on the best buy site on the phones you are purchasing to get the deal? And how do you get the phones. Are they locked up at the counter or can you just pick up a box? Thanks.

Unfortunately the Best Buy in Springfield, VA is sold out of the $14.99 phones. They only had the Verizon ones for $19.99.

I didn't ask, just tried it. Bought first 2 years last January, next two years a few days ago and the final 2 today. $60, $30, & $15 for the 6 years.

How is BB with release day shipping? I see I can get AC and it will be shipped "express" and arrive on releas day.

I almost always pick them up at the store, but when shipped usually I get top tier AAA games on release day and others on the following day. I got Freedom Wars and Shadow Warrior on a Wednesday.

Seriously? You live near Springfield, VA?

I was planning on going to the Best Buy near Springfield Mall to take advantage of this. $20 is still a good deal though.

So my Best Buy (that's actually an hour away) was out of the GCU cards. Luckily the cashier had the upc written down in the geek squad area and was able to complete the transaction. He was absolutely amazed that it worked. I guess me and my buddy were the first to do it today. And the phone has already Paid for itself as it knocked 16 dollars off of the Warlords of Draenor collectors edition.

Sweet deal. Hope it's still active tomorrow. I'll save a bunch of money just from the games I was planning on buying next month. lol

Phones are over in Mobile. When I checked Best Buy store inventory, it said they had the ATT Z222 available in my store. When I got there, there weren't any on the shelf. I asked if they had more, and it said online that they did, he said "If they aren't on the shelf, we dont have them, you may be confused with the Phone Store in the mall!" When I left best buy, there was a cage up by the checkout plum full of No Contract phones. That was all that was in the cage. Sure enough, I looked in there and there were like 4 ATT Z222's. Dude was being totally lazy, no way he didn't know they had a cage full of No Contract Phones right by check out, and he was a Best Buy Mobile employee. I just bought the LG Tracfone instead for the same price.

Here are the ones I think most people are buying!

Considering that 2 years of GCU has never been cheaper than $30, that is still a very good deal to get it for $19.99.

How is this difderent from the 2 year one?

It is the 2 year one!

Absolutely awful experience at Best Buy today.

I got the deal, but I had to argue with 2 different employees for 15 minutes before one actually scanned the card and saw the price drop. The first employee tried to tell me that 20% off was on games, not phones (no shit, sherlock). The second argued that activation "implied" to her that a 2 year contract was necessary.

I had a really hard time keeping my cool, but I won in the end. It just pissed me off that neither apologized for wasting my time and repeatedly telling me I was wrong.

I'm doing in store pickups from here on out. The customer experience in Best Buy is approaching Gamestop levels of ineptitude
.

If you are preorderibg games at Best Buy then everyone should do this instead. When you preorder in store the system they have in place is a mess and confuses most of their staff even. They don't even have your name on the preorder most of the time. And don't get me started on trying to walk in to pick up a game on release date that is not COD, GTA, or AC. They'll spend 15 minutes just trying to find the game.

Maybe my area is just bad, but preordering online pulls it out of their inventory, and it is waiting for you at customer service with your name on it before release date. Much better and consistent experience.

Just seeing this thread now, is this an all week thing?
Would like to go to my local best buy tomorrow during lunch at work if possible, so hoping this still works?

In for one today with no problem. When I went to the checkout lane the cashier just said "I know what you're doing, it's cool." When I started to explain the offer.

Couldn't stack it with another card for some reason though. He said the system would only process it as a new account. I'll try and stack another card on there tomorrow morning since I work down the street from Best Buy.

What a hell of a deal, I've been wanting a good excuse to get into GCU for ages.

Got mine no problem. Actually the only problem was finding the damn GCU card, they were all by the cash register. There were plenty of z222's, love that phone, lol.

I don't even have a reward card, but I've been signed up for the rewards online to get those points. At first I gave them my phone number, but I had another number in there I couldn't remember, so I gave my email.

The lady seemed confused when it came up as $0 but I just said, there's a deal, it's supposed to be free when you buy a phone.

It's totally dependent on the store staff. The closest store to where I live is utterly rock solid with in-store pre-orders & general service for GCU on trade-ins, returns in general etc. They've gone out of their way to figure out how to best work with me as a customer on returns etc.

The store closest to where I work? Total opposite. No clue about GCU. No clue about gaming preorders. They keep new releases in a wire cage by the regular checkout lanes, no pre-orders assigned at customer service. Horrible attitude. etc.

It's totally store dependent.

I rushed to Best Buy after work to make it before close just in case they decided to stop honoring this, and they had the lg tracphone so I was able to pull this off without a hitch. The guy at the register seemed to be confused by the whole transaction, but once he saw what happened with the price, he gave me a sort of "ok, you got us" look. I was planning on doing the 30 dollar deal with the MCC but hell, this is even better!

Just got it. Thanks for the heads up, OP!

Question about it. If preorder something from the Best Buy website will you get the discount? Was thinking about preordering the Blood Borne LE

Yes. Online, I clicked on my account and then the Rewards page. It shows the date on the right side of the page.

I can't seem to find it on MBB account. Is there a specific place where one can find this?

Yessiree bob, best that you check soon because by the time I bought my phone they only had like 2 left and everything else was $30 and up.

I clicked on my name on home page of Best Buy (it said Hi Chad). Logged in. Clicked on big tab that says "Rewards". Then click "Overview". The expiration date appears on the far right side of the screen in smallish print

Agreed. I just think the in store preorder method is not very reliable in general, all it takes is one person calling off sick and boom your name isn't on a collector's edition. So I always recommend ordering online with in store pickup. Granted there are likely good stores out there like the one near you, just better safe than sorry.

Have GCU until December 2017, dunno if I should get another 2 years... I'm afraid BB will go out of business before 2019.

Yes, you should, I just got it today as well. The discount should show up when you add to cart. It is for me. If it isn't showing up, I think you need to give it time for the system to recognize your status.

Tried it and it worked although the cashier seemed completely dumbfounded. It didn't help that the Best Buy near me isn't very good and they didn't have any of those GCU cards you take up to the register so she could just scan it.

I tried telling her that they didn't have any of the cards I could bring her so she could ring it up and she told me that you don't get an actual card when you join. :-|

Anyway, she took the ad I gave her and the phone to Customer Service and was trying to get the manager to pay attention long enough for her to explain what was going on. He kept bouncing back and forth between people and by that time she asked for my Reward Zone info and when I gave it to her she pressed a few buttons and was able to get GCU to ring up free.

As far as the phone, my son is turning 13 and a lot of his friends all have some kind of cell phone so I might give it to him on a trial basis to see if he's responsible enough to get my hand me down iPhone 4S at some point, so this all worked out. :p

I figure if he loses/breaks this phone, it was only a $15 investment.

I got the $30 deal last weekend- and I ain't even upset. Both are insane price points that pay for themselves almost immediately.

20% off only applies to video games right, not controllers? Cause I saw someone earlier say it works on Amiibos/Skylanders/Disney Infinity figures so now im not so sure.

Also should I jump in on Splinter Cell Blacklist for WiiU since its only 12$ w/ GCU?

Not controllers, not accessories like cameras, and not consoles..... but I have used it on Skylanders and it does work...

For whatever reason BB counts figures as games and not accessories. Discount does NOT work on consoles or accessories.

I'm guessing because figures are sometimes like in game DLC so they can kind of be seen as games.

Huh. The Weekly Ad on BB's website says "with purchase and activation."

Has this been changed, or was it like that from the beginning? Wouldn't want to drive to BB for no reason.
