Even if you played 1 and 2 you will probably still not have any idea what is going on story wise. Thats just how Souls stories go.

This'll be the first game in the series I'll be jumping into with at least a basic idea of what's going on (granted in the most basic of terms but whatever). That's pretty exciting!

Each game kind of has its own story. You should be fine. You probably still wouldn't have any idea what is going on playing the first two anyway. lol.
No, though that would be true even if you did play the first two.
The less it references 2, the better.
You should really play DS1 though. Considering that DS2 had quite a few callbacks, I'd expect 3 to callback some more.

Glorious. Always loved the VA in these games.
Most people have no ideas about what is going on in Dark 1 and 2 even after playing them.
If you wanna learn more i'd suggest you play them or just watch lore videos on youtube!

Super pumped for this game though. The mention of the land being where the "lords meet" makes me wonder if we'll get some lore that connects all of these games together.

Yeah the Abyss Watchers had the best intro, I counted 5 of them... maybe a 4 kings like battle but with 5 badass knights?
The music from the intro sorta reminds me of Demon's Souls.
