You should listen to Waypoint's latest podcast. Austin Walker refers to there beingYes, that sounds pretty cool! Can't wait to see how they have done that.
I know, but isn't Zelda about... well topping our expectations? I mean nobody in the 90s could have imagined the twists with Ocarina of Time/ ALTTP
Well when you say things like Gaming's greatest most beloved series etc. you're not really writing it as opinion.
Just saying I dislike reviews that gush with that kind of hyperbole over any game
No it's never been.Is...Zelda not one of the most beloved series?
Kind of hate hyperbolic reviews like this. Some of those quotes being opinions and being written as scripture is pretty cringey imo

LolNo it's never been.
So Wii U version is 720p, has more inconsistent frame rate but possibly better bloom and dynamic lighting. Think I can deal with that.
You should listen to Waypoint's latest podcast. Austin Walker refers to there beingthis time around and how he was convinced through playing the game that it wasn't necessarily a negative point.less dungeons
No it's never been.
We should start putting "imo" at the end of each sentence, just to be sure.Erm, it's a review? Of course there will be opinions.
No it's never been.
Y'all know I was just joking and playing around? Lol

It's not hyperbole though, Zelda is gamings greatest, most beloved series...
You genuinely never know these days, I need to see thatvirtually every single time lol/s
Zelda is a fad. Horizon has dethroned it easily.
No it's never been.
Is this what you actually think or is it some kind of bit?No it's never been.
For those wondering what about BotW amounts to a noticeable (paradigm?) shift away from openworld norms should listen to the WayPoint podcast. At around the 20min mark, Austin seems to slowly come to the conclusion that, just because a game world is open, that doesn't mean moving around through that environment is exploring or adventuring (or at least not in a strong sense). Open worlds have the Ubisoft style, the GTA style, the Wither 3 style, ect. And Austin puts BotW is a all its own.
Btw, the anyone else say "Bawtwaw" when saying BotW out loud?
Why would you sound out initials out loudBtw, the anyone else say "Bawtwaw" when saying BotW out loud?
Really happy the WiiU version also got a 10.

You do know that Monolith helped with the development of Breath of the Wild right?
I am getting the same vibe too... I can't fucking wait.
It's the same game and the same content!
Why wouldn't it?
Listened to the whole thing last night. I like his take on how maybe "open world fatigue" is this thing we say in order to mask the fact that perhaps that game is just actually bad in terms of how it built its world. That we need to zoom in and take a closer look as to how to truly tie it all together.
I certainly think it's a much easier case to say greatest gaming series is Grand Theft Auto over Zelda, than vice versa.
It's not about my opinion. Grand Theft Auto is not my greatest most beloved franchise.I respect your opinion but, whew, I couldn't disagree more
It's not about my opinion. Grand Theft Auto is not my greatest most beloved franchise.
But it sells a shit ton more than Zelda and has had incredible critical acclaim for many years.
What is the criteria then? I named 3 which I think are reasonable.sales isn't the end all be all of the equation and let's not act like pretty much every Zelda game wasn't critically acclaimed since its inception as a series with many more games under its belt than the gta series

So basically there is no way to quantify it at all. Zelda did some things that may have influenced other games and is also old so therefor it's THE most beloved and greatest franchise of all time.read the rest of my post

Okay, I don't think that's a good case. Certainly it isn't such an incredibly strong case that merely doubting its accuracy deserves derision.
I think people getting touchy at a Nintendo game getting unanimous praise is my new favourite thing on here. It's always entertaining seeing how mad some people get at Nintendo doing well at anything. It's both hilarious and embarrassing
Btw, the anyone else say "Bawtwaw" when saying BotW out loud?
Neither do I think so, but you haven't exactly made a case. You've just been wishy washy about this obvious truthiness of Zelda being THE most beloved and greatest gaming franchise ever.I certainly don't think longevity, consistency, critical acclaim, and influence across the entire medium can just be shrugged off but hey, opinions
