If I can ever own a game physically
It has to be this beauty
Please gaming lords

yeah it would be like an easy rhythm game or shmup or something
when your concept is as simple as go into a stage and do one thing, imo that one thing needs to be difficult so you have room to grow as a player
cuz its not like these are story based games, they are gameplay based
I hope the levels were worth the delay. I would've loved a boss rush game.
kirby also has exploration elements in most of the entries that i have played, as well as minigames and such. but yeah, some games do aim for a more relaxed gameplay experience. with something like cuphead though, especially when the original idea hinged on a series of boss fights, i think if it were easy that would be a real shameKirby comes to mind as an example of a game that's focused on a simple concept, but is also relatively easy (and manages to be fun).
(KIrby is basically a Beat 'Em Up when you think about it)
This. I'm so pissed so many people complained. Very very few developers understand how platformers even work.. I rather have a boss rush game over another mediocre platformer attempt. Still getting day 1 and hopefully the platforming sections don't feel like filler. Game looks absolutely stunning
Any word on retail release?
Why can't you pre-order this on steam yet?
What's the price going to be?
Not yet, but there's a pretty good chance there will be eventually.

Serious question... any way to limit the frame rate? That artstyle at that frame rate is messing with me. Bonus if you can turn off the artistic blur.
It does look amazing but I'm not sure it's for me if it's really that hard.
Destiny 2
Classic cartoons? This game looks sexy as fuck. The art style nails that classic cartoon look and feel.Really excited about this one, never seen anything with an art style like it.

That's great to hear. I would love a collectors edition with an animation cel.
I'm curious what cels people would like? A Cuphead cel? A boss cel? Action cel?
Wouldnt be suprised if this game makes its dev budget back within a week like Ori lol.
It's the nature of the genre. If it weren't challenging, it would basically be bad game design to the people who play these games. And just as importantly, if it were pointlessly difficult, it would be equally bad. The preview here was trying to keep expectations clear for fresh players, but when they specify that the challenge is fair and worthwhile, they're spelling out that there's a good balance.
The fact that the preview specifies that the two-player is balanced says a lot, because there are some famously bad design decisions in games like this in co-op modes, even among the classics. I mean heck, Wild Guns Reloaded for PS4 awkwardly combines player lives in co-op in a way that makes that mode hard to enjoy, without heavy tweaking away from the normal settings.
I guess i should have specified that with "titles" i meant articles titles in general, not "titles" as games, let alone this one in particularAn easy run 'n gun isn't really worth playing. Difficult games are incredibly fun as long as they aren't cheap.
...oh...the game runs at 60fps?
This is, weirdly enough, the one time I wish it was 30. The mismatch of fluid sprite movement to the sprite animation looks visually odd. But I'm sure the 60 makes it more responsive to play. Can't wait for the Steam release.

Boss Cells would be the best I'd think.
Boss cel!
Paying for a physical item? I'm on board. Like the old days. I love cartoon stuff. Although, I don't know if I'd go for the random aspect, personally. Would we only be able to get one cel? Depending on how many bosses and cost, I'd want multiple, if not all. It also sounds like cool collector's edition items if physical copies were to release. What if we integrated into the game - every time you beat a boss, you would get a loot chest that contains a random boss cel. You could buy digital keys as DLC for $0.99 that would open the loot chest. Those in-game image cels would have a personalized serial-key (like a CD-key) that you could then email us, plus $9.99 paypal gifts to send you a physical cel of that image (based on the keygen).
Does that sound pretty awesome?

I'd enjoy something like this, particularly the physical offering.
I'm calling the police.
It's a physical item and I love cartoons. Gimme.Jeez, I actually tried to think of the grossest thing possible and people actually want it?

Edit - it was a joke. There will not be loot boxes in CupheadHI POLYGON
um, 60fps with fewer frames of animation on sprites is basically the vast majority of console games during the 8bit and 16bit era....oh...the game runs at 60fps?

As far as I know, there are literally zero 2D games that have actual 60fps animation. Unless people count things like Vectorman, Ernest Evans, or any other marionette animated games.
I think Rayman Origins's sprites are a full 60 frames? Unless you count that as "marionette animated", since there was clearly a procedural system at work.
An easy run 'n gun isn't really worth playing. Difficult games are incredibly fun as long as they aren't cheap.
Does it even have XOX enhancements?
Rayman Origins/Legends uses a combination of marionetting, morphmation, and traditional animation. The traditional animation runs wwaaaaaaaayyyyyyy below 60fps, but the morphmation and marionetting run at 60 (as that animation is tied to screen update).
They use the three different types very intelligently to lean away from that "flash" look that bothers a lot of people, but the majority of their animation is marionetting and morphmation.
