Let me get this straight.
So Eurogamer, SemiAccurate, Wall Street Journal, MCV, Kotaku, IGN, and Emily Rogers are all part of this big giant conspiracy?
Edit: The video is not too bad, and he does make some reasonable points.
does the Tegra X1 (or X2) support quick charge? that would be a GOAT feature to a handheld
While I'm on the subject of the Tegra (be it X1 or X2), wouldn't Nintendo need to modify it either way to fit their needs? It doesn't really fit Nintendo's MO to just plop a Tegra into their device & call it a day.
Nintendo shouldn't have to resign themselves to the portable space like they're allegedly doing with the NX. They have too big of a war-chest for that. It's either an extremely powerful, on-the-go device, or an extremely dated console, maybe both. Point is, no one wants an overclocked WiiU for their home entertainment system and/or a battery seeping handheld with detachable controls. I'm sure that most people who are disappointed with this news are the nintendo fans looking for an online savvy, current gen console with a normal controller and at least some freaking attempt at courting Western 3rd party developers. This news shat all over that.
Whatever NX is, the big n wants to make it the jack of all trades and you know what that means if that's the case...

Yes. It would be a custom Tegra X1/X2.
I'm late to seeing this, but dude, this is an amazing mockup and absolutely what I think they'll go with. So good! Kudos.Ok. One last mockup post. This time I played with the possibilites with the form factor and deattachable controllers. Hope it adds to the discussion.
I must say that after thinking a lot about the concept, something seems to be missing and as many have pointed there is a lot of things to figure out before an idea like dettachable controllers on a portable really becomes viable and appealing...however if any could come with a solution, that is Nintendo.
P,S. Thanks a lot for all the comments about the last mockup, that is what made me keep going.

Here's the link. http://kyokojap.myweb.hinet.net/gpu_gflops/
First one on google search for 3ds gflops. guess I should've searched more.
IwataWho does Nic Cage play in this movie?

The NX? At this point I feel like Sony is more likely to reveal the damn thing than Nintendo.
Of course there is more to it. We only have basic details right now that allow for a general idea of the core concept.SuperMetalDave should relax. Dude is going to be in a depression when NX is revealed and it's not what he keeps thinking it is in his mind. He's going delusional it feels like. I'm sure there's more to the NX, but man...
Tbh I agree with you. I know I've said this, but nobody has come up with any concept art that looks remotely good in terms of design with them attached to the screen and with them not attached to the screen. There's something MISSING for sure that we don't know about when it comes to these controls. Or the whole thing is wrong and it will look different. If this thing has two controllers on the side that detach and use individually I will drink a gallon of milk. I just think its too stupid to be real

I really don't think the NX is going to have two full controllers on each unit. Could you do 2-player mini-games with the two halves? Probably, but you aren't going to be playing games like BotW with a single tiny controller. And it would be dumb for Nintendo to design the controller based on that usage instead of the normal one.

It still just seem stupid to me.. like why you gonna do that? I was team hybrid before now im team "no detachable controllerS) It might have 1 perfect detachable controller but thats it. Yall keep ignoring the goddamn falco gif but just wait til they reveal it. I promise yall I will be VINDICATED again!!While they might be able to be used that way for some games/mini-games (simple ones,) I get the impression that they detach to operate like either wiimote+nunchuck or as a normal full gamepad (via a spacer or something.)
This would give the device WiiU Gamepad functionality, Wiimote functionality, and Pro controller functionality all in one.
There is also talk of mobile gaming compatibility, and it's possible that the "controller lite" halves could be used as superior controls for mobile games rather than using having a touchscreen be the only control type. These parts can communicate with other devices/SCDs right? Maybe with a Nintendo app on your smarrtphone you can control Ninty mobile games with those.

Dont mock me!If this thing has a controller that looks like a remote I will drink a gallon of milk. I just think its too stupid to be real.
If this thing has two screens I will drink a gallon of milk. I just think its too stupid to be real.
If this thing has a tablet controller I will drink a gallon of milk. I just think its too stupid to be real
If this thing has a glasses free 3D display I will drink a gallon of milk. I just think its too stupid to be real
Why are you doubting this? They've been doing this kind of thing for over a decade now. Is this seriously not believable?
Tried my hand at a mockup.
The controllers are the width of a Wii remote and 75% of the length.

This looks fantastic. Do you envision shoulder buttons on this, though?
Picture this:
Let's take one of the detached pads and say there are shoulder buttons on top. Let's say that the top side, with the shoulder buttons, is the side that attaches to the tablet. This is a good way to conceal the shoulder buttons inside the tablet, so that you're not accidentally pressing them when holding the tablet with the pads attached.
For this to work, though, I think the controls on the right side of the tablet would need to be flipped so that the buttons are on top and the circle pad is down below, like a GCN controller. That way the pads are symmetrical in design when detached. The left pad's top is on the right, and the right pad's top is on the left.
Do you think you could tweak your image so that the individual pads have shoulder buttons, and so that the controls on the right side are flipped?
But then the question remains: Where will the shoulder buttons be when the pads are attached to the tablet? I don't foresee Nintendo dropping shoulder buttons... or triggers, for that matter too integral to games like Splatoon. There need to be enough buttons to play Breath of the Wild. Currently, the WiiU version of the game uses every button.
If the shoulder buttons/triggers were on the top (when the pads are attached) that means they'd be on the sides of the pad when detached. This seems problematic, insofar as your palms would be squeezing them when holding a pad in its detached state. They could be inoperable in that state, but it wouldn't feel very comfortable to have the buttons/triggers squeezing against your palm.
I think you're onto the right idea, but I'm still trying to figure out how they reconcile shoulder buttons and triggers with this thing so that the functionality is there in both the "together" and "apart" state.
Damn it, this is too good. I'm already disappointed in advance that Nintendo's own solution won't be nearly as ergonomically soundI came up with an idea of how to implement shoulder buttons (L/R) for both configurations while mantaining symmetry and ergonomics by adding a protective rim around the unit wich would hide the buttons and obviously protect the system from falls. I would like to know your opinion about it. And man, what a ride! We are pretty much designing a system now and I am willing to bet NX it is going to end up being nothing like it.
Dont mock me!
No its believeable, I just dont believe its FEASIBLE

They shouldn't, but there's not much point in making dedicated home consoles just to appease a steadily declining fanbase. All of their home consoles have been profitable (maybe except the Wii U and the Virtual Boy, I don't know about those), but the home console market isn't a segment where they can expect to grow. Their best option really is the NX, as in a device that attempts to consolidate their handheld and home console business. It may not be quite what their fans want, but it is what Nintendo needs.
I dont care how its connected, thats fine. I just dont think the design and structure is feasible. It's plenty feasible. Those controllers are probably connected via bluetooth or something.
Unfortunate, he went from 80% believable to 10k%.
Could this be it?
