Horizon |OT| Red Head Dreademption
I like the way you think.
Definitely my game of the show. The audience at the theater started cheering when the CG trailer transitioned to live gameplay.

They're braids, not dreads!
What do you guys think of this crazy theory?
Are you telling me I can go anywhere in this area?
This is too much.
The Zero Dawn subtitle really isnt working for me though.

I'd say most of it comes from the fact that it was designed by the team that made the first three Killzone games
I wouldn't be surprised if they want to leave Killzone in the past and erase their image as the "Killzone studio", despite what they've said
This game seems real cool and really its about damn time SCE took a crack at a Western RPG.

I was thinking about the whole concept of the game, and I have the strong impression that Horizon actually is happening on Killzone's universe, but 1000 years in the future, after ISA and Helghasts destroyed each other in an apocalyptic war.
The first similarity I saw, it was obviously the colors and some similarity on the machine design
Observe like we have Blue animals, with the same blue we see in the ISA army.
Now, this is a Killzone's Drone, from ISA, it has some animal characteristics, like a bird.
now backing to Horizon, we can see the other "faction" machines, with the same red eyes from helghasts...
And here we have the Helghast drone, maybe a machine on its very initial stage of evolution.
We also have giant enemies in Killzone, which has animals similarities.
Other animal-machines concepts from Killzone:
The own city that we see at the begining of the Horizon's trailer, remembers the city of Shadow Fall.
I think ISA and Helghasts destroyed each other with some new letal weapows, Inteligen Machines, and only this machines survived to the Apocalypse... and after 1000 years of IA evolutions turned them on what we see in horizon.
"Zero Down" maybe refers to the point where something happend, which exterminated that civilization.

I don't think so, remember, this game was developed in parallel with Killzone Shadowfall. I think Guerrilla will simply be a 2 game studio from this point on.
i just want to say something
their eyes or whatever only turn red when they spot you
for example
here the light is blue
here is red
A game called "Horizon" already exists. Subtitle is likely for copyright reasons.Who the f thought Zero Dawn was cooler than just plain HORIZON?

I love seeing posts like this. I like Guerrilla a lot and it's great to see people who haven't been fans of their previous work getting excited for this. I really hope they pull it off because coming out of E3, I can't stop thinking about this game.Guerrilla has never been a favorite developer of mine. I was never a big fan of the Killzone series, although I felt it had potential (mostly never utilized).
But this is... wow. They really should have been allowed to work on non-Killzone shit for a long time. If they can nail the mechanics, it legitimately might be one of the best open world RPG/action games of all time. I adore Monster Hunter, and that's one of their main inspirations? I actually left the MH series because I was tired of it being stuck on last-gen systems tech-wise. So this is amazing. Be still, my steady heart.
They may also want to avoid having "numbered" sequels, for one.
The ideal is always if you can have a strong brand that doesn't need a "number" behind to signify that it's a mothership game in the franchise, unless you're say Final Fantasy where every game is a 'new world.'
The sequels thing is my bet (that's how the Pirate's of the Caribbean film titles were conceived), but it does't hold up. You can easily give the first one the standard title and add subtitles for the sequels without numbers. And then we have the horrible Uncharted system with both subtitle and numbered sequels ugh
I don't know why people always want to make definitive connections between games from the same developers. I'm sure there will be a couple of Killzone Easter Eggs but nothing more than that. They're not connected in story. It's just the same artists continuing to work in their style, on a different subject matter this time.

Why are people so surprised that you can go to these far out locations in an open world game? If Guerrilla is saying you can go there, you can go there. The same with GTA, the same with Elder Scrolls, the same with a lot of open world games. I'm not understanding the doubt here.
I think people are burned by the famous Destiny, "we could go up that mountain if we wanted to"Why are people so surprised that you can go to these far out locations in an open world game? Different tastes I suppose, but I'll always opt for minimalismIdeally, the first game would also have a subtitle of it's own. IMO.
I'm picky about details like that (hence having a couple of examples at the ready), but of course I won't skip a game over it.The trademark for Horizon already exists and it has existed before SCE filed for "Horizon: Zero Dawn"
Are you not going to play the game because of a subtitle?

This game seems real cool and really its about damn time SCE took a crack at a Western RPG.
And I liked the opening trailer. Real good set up for the world. Wonder if you will ever play in the "modern day" city they had in it because it seemed pretty detailed for something just used in a trailer to establish the world. Could easily just be there because they really wanted to go all out for the big reveal though.
The Zero Dawn subtitle really isnt working for me though.
I've never been one to think just because a developer is used to making a certain kind of game means they can't excel at something new. I also think these consoles, especially the PS4 are just vastly underrated by people in what they are capable of. The power and technology jump from last gen on both consoles is huge coming from the PS3 and 360. There's also the fact that this is coming from a first party dev that is known for its technical prowess.Because this game would be the greatest looking open world on consoles and would rival some of the advancements that were praised in AC Unity, yet in a huge scale that looks like on-location film landscape in all its alluring scale. Scale that isn't captured in that quality in any wilderness we've ever seen in an open world.
It's just hard to believe an FPS dev is going to break the mold that significantly on their first crack at open world
I understand that. That bait and switch was BS, but that was also Destiny, a game that I don't even think is actually open world.I think people are burned by the famous Destiny, "we could go up that mountain if we wanted to"

can someone whip up an avatar for me?
i'd like to make a change
thanks
It's Earth though, as someone already pointed out. Could be the Earth of the Killzone universe, in which case maybe the "approaching storm" that Aloy says she senses at the end of E3 demo is actually the Helghast returning from across the gulf of space to reclaim their ancestral home...DUN, DUN, DUUUUNNN...What do you guys think of this crazy theory?
Watching the trailer again the only thing that seemed odd and out of place were the clipping issues with the anchor lines. Really hope they fix that.

Please, no more. The wait is already hard enough.
Absolutely magnificent.
