I thought you were being a troll, but I gave the album a listen and damn that's good. Shame "I really like you" was chosen as the headliner of that album because it really poorly represents the rest of the style in it.
^ Check that math. EDIT: times 2
I'm thinking maybe Stankonia.
This is the inherent problem for the thread. What are the parameters here? Does it have to be universal or mainstream accepted? Does allowing niche acclaim kind of go against the point in the first place? Across all races and genders?
I don't think you can objectively call any artist with a billion youtube views for several individual songs "niche". If you haven't heard anything from them you are the rare exception.
Taylor Swift and Katy Perry have easily reached the cultural relevance of Michael Jackson in music.

Yes.Metallicas Master Of Puppets
the sad truth is there are no such albums.
that so many people have posted examples older than 20 years only further hammers this point home. this era is a music desert.
Coldplay is probably more of a comparison of U2 I would think. Adele has the best two selling albums ever of the 2010s with both selling 30 million copies plus.Lol, Adele and Coldplay are nowhere near MJs level of popularity
Are you all foolin' or do I need to listen to that Carly Rae Jepson album?
With all the #1 hits and iconic songs on that album. No. Never.
In terms of notoriety? Maybe. The most hated band in America lmfao.
Are you all foolin' or do I need to listen to that Carly Rae Jepson album?
Also, nowadays OK Computer is a much more relevant album than Thriller (just go take a look at Sputnikmusic)
MBDTF is the true answer.
Are Radiohead fans seriously this myopic?
I am thoroughly convinced by your rebuttal...Yeah right...
Hundreds of albums are better than Thriller, that's not what the thread is getting at.
If another Thriller were ever to be made it would be by someone like Taylor Swift or Katy Perry. Justtin Timberlake was on the verge at one point but I don't think he has it in him now.
