When is the new South Park game coming out? Why is that not on the list?

The only ones I'm interested in just from seeing the names are Persona 5, Nier 2, and FF15.

I already own DQ7 and DQ8. That's not big news to me even though they're two of my favorite games.

I still have to play Star Ocean 1-4 before I think about V.

Honestly, even just 3DS and WiiU will keep me busy all year. Next month Xenoblade Chronicles X and Mario & Luigi Paper Jam Bros, then from January we get Final Fantasy Explorers, Stella Glow, Bravely Second, Legend of Legacy, Fire Emblem Fates, plus Dragon Quest 7 & 8, and the Fire Emblem crossover game for WiiU.

2016 is looking to be my best year yet for 3DS, it goes out with a bang.

I'll be picking up DQ7 and DQ8 because I loved the originals, but remakes don't count much toward my excitement for a given year.

I will definitely get SMT4 Final, but given the obvious weaknesses of the original (which I adored, don't get me wrong), my enthusiasm is going to have a low-ish ceiling until Atlus shows me some pretty substantial gameplay improvements.

Dark Souls 3 is on my calendar, if we're calling that a jRPG. And I'm monitoring Exist Archive for its VP heritage.

Off the top of my head, the only other jRPG I'm really excited about for next year is Cosmic Star Heroine. Or is that releasing this year? (Sorry if I missed the announcement, Robert)

EDIT: I can't believe there's a new FE coming to the states, and I am so ambivalent I forgot to mention it. That's how much fuck Awakening, I guess.

How so? We've had word of Taro working on a new project long before Automata's announcement.

Hearing the name Persona 5 still hurts tho

I'll be owning all of them and more like I usually do anyways. My JRPG backlog is the size of a mountain now :'(. You would think that after getting a comfy job and having no more school, you'd find more free time, but now it's gym, gf, paying bills and going out on weekends were most of my free time is at :'(. That's another reason why the 3DS is a godsend for JRPGs. If only all JRPG'scould be portable, I would probably finish more titles.

I paid good money for this Dynex!
It's, without a doubt, the best RPG lineup in more than a decade. We're basically back to late '90s levels of RPG output. Whether these games can deliver the same level of quality remains to be seen, but holy hell are there a lot of them out there.

It's been like this for a bit. Every year has been a great JRPG year in terms of localization in the last 5 years.

The biggest missing element has been the DQ games.

Tales games are locks to localization these days. Great time to be a western JRPG fan.

Scalebound is a JRPG? I thought it was just another Platinum action game (not that there's anything wrong with that). Guess I haven't been following it that closely.

I'm really pumped for Digimon: Cyber Sleuth, oh man it looks good, I might double dip on both versions.

Absolutely RIDICULOUS list for next year. Will probably be the first year in a while where I'll have spent most of it playing new games! (Though I still hope to go through Suikoden 5 by then and finish that series playthrough!)

Still can't consider games such as Scalebound, Dark Souls and Nier as "JRPG". This trend started because of the drought of JRPGs in the past years and I guess it is time to abandon it, no more need to "engross" the lists with action-rpgs. ;)

Bolded the one's I'll definitely get, no questions asked.

Last few years have actually been pretty decent for JRPGS on consoles (especially on PS3/3DS), though 2016 looks to have both quantity and (hopefully) quality. Great time to be a JRPG fan for sure.
