Downclock of the upclock rumor confirmed!
I had people swearing this was happening. Lots of people
Downclock of the upclock rumor confirmed!
To all the insiders that have been telling me that it was getting a 200mhz bump and that I could take it to the bank.
53MHz are you fricken kidding me?
Insiders were saying 200mhz? Even if an insider said that, it would be very hard to believe.
Why would they announce a specifically very small upgrade to the gpu as news?
Downclock of the upclock rumor confirmed!
Did you read the word 'priced competitively?'
Also, showcase of games is never an apple-to-apple comparison.
Some people may like XB's exclusives and first-party more than Sony's, vice-versa.
Some people may appreciate MS moving over their previously 360-exclusives over to XB1 ( Ryse, DR3, Crimson Dragon), some may appreciate Sony still supporting PS3 with multiple AAA-releases this year, when Sony could've forced the devs to make them PS4 titles instead. (GoW:A, TLoU, GT6 )
Some people may like particular genres/franchises more than others.
It's a system focused on what a console is supposed to be about: Playing games. As such, it's priced extremely competitively.
Forza 5 was also revealed in May.

Regardless they've focused extensively on both, I think they've learnt their lesson on this particular one.
Yeah it sounded nuts to me but it was from multiple sources
Well if you add it to the downgrade you heard and posted about it's actually quite a substantial upgrade.
Perhaps they had a range up to 200Mhz for testing, and settled on a safe 53Mhz?
Those the same sources that told you that the PS4 was gonna have 6 GB for games last weekend.Yeah it sounded nuts to me but it was from multiple sources
There are five million Vita owners in the world? That seems really high, even if you're extrapolating to sometime this fall.
Yeah it sounded nuts to me but it was from multiple sources
I would say this role reversal is very similar to the 360 / PS3 situation. One is probably going to be significantly easier than the other.
These were actual questions I apologies I came off as a d bag.I purposely excluded Vita-cross play from my list because it's feature that requires an extra purchase. But to answer your question? At least 5 million, because the current crop of Vita owners are 99% almost certainly buying a PS4.
As for Gaikai, we don't know what the service will become in the long-term. We do know that playing games is perfect possible already, the 'service' itself was proven viable before Sony bought them.
They did say their vision is to eventually make Gaikai available at EVERY device from smartphone to tablets, but realistically that vision is at least 3-4 years away. I think it's far more likely that they'll establish a Netflix of games, exclusive to PS3/4/Vita first.
Maybe they were shooting for 200 and it just wasn't feasible.
Hey guys, Microsoft keeps improving their system with changes left and right. You know what this means? It's an embarrassment. It shows they have no confidence in their product. They have no backbone. Why are they bending over for the masses?
Or maybe it's good for all gamers?

Hypothetically, should PS4 have a 53MHz increase in the GPU what would the total Tflops be?

More evidence that we should stop relying on insiders so blindly. Even cboat
You have a point with the price difference but I don't believe the power difference is much of a issue or a selling point IMO. It's about games and I personally believe MS has more exciting games(for me). I just see so much emphasis on graphics with some people. I don't believe it will be a big difference. But then again I could very much be wrong. But it's unfortunate to see more discussion about the specs than games. Aren't we all here because we love games? These machines are going to be hella powerful. I just don't see the power difference to be a big selling point. Not to me. If you like it, that's great, I'm sure the fact that it comes in with every console will result in games that make good use of it. But those of us who have no interest in the thing can't possibly justify dropping an extra $100 for a system that is less powerful.

Cboat told me it was bs.
i like to think we'll get another podcast in a month with the remainder of the upclock. to build momentum. close the gap.
Now did he say upclock is bs or the number 200 is bs?
Since both ps4 and xbone are based on the same architecture, Will ps4 also benefit from this ?
1.84 --> 1.95 ?
It will be like revealing smash charachters.
No shit? I thought the ESRAM was faster than the GDDR5? That is impressive then, pretty much means there's virtually no chance of the Xbox One performing better in almost any situation (right?)
As for your second paragraph, the PS3 was fucking notoriously difficult to develop for, it was a nightmare, everyone knows this. The 360 might not be dead simple but it was much easier.
I would say this role reversal is very similar to the 360 / PS3 situation. One is probably going to be significantly easier than the other.
Maybe MS has just failed to mention that their previously unannounced clock speed was actually 653Mhz? Only when they could actually match the known PS4 GPU were they comfortable even discussing the clocks.
I asked what features the PS4 will have. And responded with above. I simple asked is he implying that the X1 wasn't with a comment that would prove otherwise in the case of his doubt of the X1 not being focused on gaming.
The more games comment was just in defense of Microsofts priorities with the X1. IMO the X1 is focused on gaming and innovation. I disagree with games being apples to apples.
Yeah it sounded nuts to me but it was from multiple sources
No-- the cooling on the PS4 is very different. That's a small box, with the PSU inside, not as much room for fans, and the yields on their chips are likely going to be different than the yields on the Xbox One stuff. Maybe Sony can do an upclock, but you can't say just because MS can do one that Sony can as well.
The number.

In the podcast they state we have been able to tweak the clock from 800 TO 853Mhz.
Did he also say the Downclock rumors that you Thuway posted were bollocks?

lol so much for the down clocking rumours
Noooooo I agree with games being apples to apples!!!!dam I hate the iPhone for typing!!!He didn't give a good answer. Whatever, I've already answered on his behalf.
Well, you're entitled to your opinion, which I also agree 'at the moment'.
I personally just dislike making comparisons of 'games announced' between competitors, because we never know how much they've kept hidden for other unveiling events.
All we can use as a benchmark is the '15 from MS Studios' and '20 from Sony WWS', and even that is not an accurate gauge because it excludes 3rd-party exclusives. ( like Titanfall )
I always felt waiting until TGS's annoucement is the best time to finally compare both console's announcements properly. Especially since half of MS's early announcements have shown no actual gameplay, which will likely be shown more in Gamescom/TGS. ( I hate CGi trailer announcements. )
