ah yeah forgot this somehow^^

They would have had a good exclusive this year, Scalebound.
Still can't believe why they cancelled that.
Lol, is that you?
I will be buying a One X. I am engraved in an Xbox lifecycle. I have 100s of games for the platform.
But this... ?
Ouch. It is sad to see it positioned like this. Do you have a similar chart for Sony (I appreciate no 2017 update yet).e
I get why they do it, if you factor in the rising cost of making games and the fact Rare isn't that massive a studio, it's less risky to focus on doing one thing well.Well, as mentioned, this is a dangerous strategy and allows no scope for creative growth. Considering that Sea of Thieves looks very good, it'd make sense to have a division of Rare look after it while the rest of them develop something new. They might be Microsoft's most talented studio, after all.
I don't think it's ID@xbox anymore. Unless Recore Definotive edition is the 5th game
It's almost that they are backing out. Or settling indefinitely for a second/third place. If your 1st party software is dwindeling like this for years, man, something is really wrong.
yup and this is why presumably Minecraft/mixer/gamepass were bought/created.Well if CFO and CEO won't give a division capital to invest there isn't a lot you can do as the head of the divsion.
They'd make for a great third party publisher at this point.

Wish they had doubled down on games and studios and left the hardware until the next generation.Man, the landscape really is as dire as we thought. Next year that list of announces will probably get even shorter...Halo 6, Forza Horizon 3, and ???
Such a shame. I believe MS has spent the last few years building the beat "platform" in gaming... From the services, features, hardware, consumer options, etc. they have really knocked it out of the part. Unfortunately, they've forgotten about the games side of the equation.
I don't even think that's true. Their strongest title that can perform is Forza. Gears and Halo imo would face a lot of competition.
Times have changed, and so should MS. Imagine if they didn't piss off Bungie, they would have Destiny and maintained another decade of fps dominance.
Well if CFO and CEO won't give a division capital to invest there isn't a lot you can do as the head of the divsion.
Whats the story behind this? I didn't know Bungie was pissed off with MS at any point
I'd bet its a deal like Dead Rising 4
They are publishing, but its timed

Piss-off is the wrong word here, but clearly they didn't want to work on Halo for the rest of their lives like we assume MS wanted them to.
Bungie wanted to spread its wings, went and made Destiny, MS passed on it. Not sure Bungie were pissed off, but might have missed something.
According to VentureBeat, Microsoft is publishing that arena game with the cringey shoutcaster, The Darwin Project
https://venturebeat.com/2017/06/11/...game-the-darwin-project-as-an-xbox-exclusive/
So Forza 7, Ori 2, Darwin Project, Super Lucky's Tale were the announced games
It is not timed
I think Darwin is what Project Knoxville (the winner of the Press Play poll) got turned into. The shout caster was terrible, but the actual game looked intriguing.According to VentureBeat, Microsoft is publishing that arena game with the cringey shoutcaster, The Darwin Project

That's the thing though, we didn't even see AA investments like ReCore this year.
There's not having a budget, and flat out not investing anything. After yesterday, I don't see how anyone can still think it's the first option. One of the titles we've already been waiting years for has now been pushed back to 2018, and is the only sign of a lineup past this year.
I'm really starting to believe MS is either on their way out or planning on doing something entirely different than traditionally.
But looking at that chart and comparing it to Sonys? Doesn't matter what they are doing anymore, there's no defending that.
They really just need to release Sea of Thieves already in my opinion. They are not going to change some peoples minds about it. Release it and start something else with most of the staff.
It has been shown in detail at 3 different E3s now.
Yeah, it's super weird. Press Play was a consistent source of solid midtier titles for them. Never even heard of Scavengers Studio.Ya I agree. It wasn't anything against him, I just dislike shoutcaster's in general haha.
But ya, that's definitely what Press Play was trying to do with Project Knoxville. Guess MS kept the rights to it and thought it would be cheaper to develop it with another partner (I really liked Press Play .... )

If they had 8 studios all with multiple production teams so were working on at any one time 10-16 games internally and invested through Global publishing avg. of showing two per year. Then the perception problem wouldn't be there.
The traditional MS idea of one studio works on one franchise has failed and now they have to evolve that is where MS is at. They need to create and purchase studios as well. Its an expensive multi dimensional chess game which needs to be fixed by 2020-21 forwhen Xbox Two hits.

Poking around a little, Deep Rock Galactic got announced late last year for Steam early access, so that one might be a coincidence. If i were a betting man, and I am, I would bet that The Darwin Project is led by former Press Play people and that game is basically Prject Knoxville. There was also a game where you were digging gold and killing monsters that looked very similar to Press Play's Dwarves concept.
Microsoft can still publish console launch exclusives you know. Tomb Raider and DR4 say hi.It's a Console Launch Exclusive, so they aren't publishing it.
Then they should sell the business. There is a minimum level of software investment needed to support a platform as a platform holder and they haven't proven that they are willing to meet that.
That's not a traditional Microsoft idea, that's the reality of the games industry at present - very few studios seem to work on more than one series, or more than one game, over a period of five years or a decade. The traditional MS idea of one studio works on one franchise has failed and now they have to evolve that is where MS is at. Yes Ghost Ship Games was formed in 2016 in Copenhagen Denmark (where Press Play was), so without poking around too much I would assume they are ex staff. And yep that concept is Project Dwarves. It's amazing how all of their concepts are now in development at three different studios. If i were a betting man, and I am, I would bet that The Darwin Project is led by former Press Play people and that game is basically Prject Knoxville. I saw quite a few games that would justify my investment in the X.
Forza 7
ORI
Sea of Thieves
Cuphead
That's just me. Add the 3rd party games and I am good.
The fact that they let another E3 come by, this time while they are launching new hardware, and still did absolutely nothing to address their first party concerns, says to me they aren't about to do any of that.
The biggest crowd reaction from the whole conference was for Original Xbox Backwards Compatibility. Let that sink in for a second.
They most hyped game coming out of a MS conference was Anthem, a third party title. Let that sink in for a second.
There's no more benefit of the doubt here.

Project Karoo is now called Pioneers and in dev at Flashbulb, Project Dwarves is Deep Rock Galactic, and Project Knoxville is Darwin Project
Nice list. To confirm, this is just stuff announced at E3 and nothing else right? (I know there's a ton of games missing but think they weren't announced at E3). You're also missing World of Final Fantasy under E3 2015 unless you're excluding it for a reason I'm not aware of (Vita version?)
