New BlazBlue CF character: Es from XBlaze

Also, considering Mai, it does kind of make sense considering her backround.
similar to kaine who wore revealing outfits to emphasize her feminine traits and desperation to be considered a woman due to the insults by others because of being a transgender, one could interpret Mai doing the same as coming to terms and fully embracing her sexuality as a woman after being initially confused about her own identity

Nice try

As someone who couldn't give a rat's ass about the story of these games and doesn't really play online, am I going to miss anything just downloading the JP version on release rather than waiting for the US/EU version?

The main menus are in English aren't they? At least the mode names anyway?

I gave it a shot, crucify me if you want, but i tried to make a devil's advocate

....you know, the writers are the one who came up with that story, right? If they really didn't want a girl in a skimpy outfit, they didn't need one. And they could just as well put her in a pink dress. Heck, if having her dress and pose sexually like that is the writers' idea of 'embracing femininity,' I think I'm going to leave before everyone else gets wind of it. It would also be rather disgusting.

Bayonetta. Also, i didn't know that posing in a questionable manner and dressing somewhat provocatively was disgusting. Some might say that was shaming if you get my meaning.

Also, we're totally not Type Moon here; most of those characters are far too much clothing.

THANK YOU.

Man the new character designs have gone downhill.

Putting girls in semi skimpy outfits does not equal softcore porn. Let's dial it back.

Dude, she has half her butt exposed with the artist trying as hard as possible to leave no clothes on the side. And that pose is one of the worst cases of "show off ass and boobs" I've seen.

Its true, that's most likely a big reason for the design. -shrug- But it doesn't have to be the only reason.

I just think it's silly to go out of your way to defend the design, giving them more credit than they deserve (and even if that was the intention, there were probably better ways of doing it).
They wanted to draw what they consider a sexy character and that's what we got, there's nothing more to. It's no different from Makoto, Mu, and Bullet.

I wasn't necessarily defending the designs intent, we all know the intent of the Makotos and the Mu's for example. I'm just pushing back against moral grandstanding and the fact that just because of that intent, the designs are bad or not desired by the people who buy the product.

If that was the case they would not be continuing with it

I don't think they're bad because they look like entertainers, just that IMO they're plain bad :p
Other than maybe Nine, the new characters introduced in this expansion don't appeal to me design-wise.
