Can confirm, European eshop has no titles to buy yet so signed in with a USA Nintendo account and Zelda is now downloading. Had to use eshop cards though as my credit card wasn't accepted
It will turn into a pissing contest about Laura's credibility about immediately. This should be a thread.

By the way Laura also says the Joy-Con sync issue seems to have fixed itself after the system update, no guarantee but its promising:
"Can't replicate the Left Joycon Dissconnect issue post update. That's not a promise it's fixed. Will update."

Sweet, so buying 50hz Virtual console games will never again be a problem.
So the onus is on Nintendo of Europe to offer both version as an option if they want my money.
True, but I would like game purchase history to fall under one account instead of spread out through 2 or 3 accounts
So we will need to buy eshop cards for the region? Somewhat of a pain but not expected.
What about Paypal?
oh no.
The dream is dead
No option on the switch itself to use PayPal
What happens if you change the region of your Nintendo Account? Can you then access the eShop of the new region or do you need to create a new account? What happens to your existing purchases if you can keep on using the same account?
Is it region-free yet?
Can you use a credit card from another country though? That was a hassle when I used a US 3DS.

need to use up all balance or give it up before you can change region. after that no idea

Not even Apple lets you do that.Whilst it's great, it's still a shame you can't just change region without creating mule accounts.
1. Check to see if if your card has a Foreign Transaction Fee
2. You can't go by internet exchange rates. Use the official one for the credit card issuer. Here's Visa for example: https://usa.visa.com/support/consumer/travel-support/exchange-rate-calculator.html/
Is that a big deal?
If it's a region exclusive game, it's the only way to play.

Nintendo realized that money is money at the end. Doesn't make sense to treat console owners worse than people who play their games on mobile. With Fire Emblem, Mario Run and Co. your region or accounts also doesn't matter and its universal.I don;t understand why they make this so easy :S

It seems like you can't.Hopefully I can use my CC. I had no issues buying JP games with it on the 3DS eShop so crossing fingers.

I wouldn't take the chance. Creating separate accounts would be staying on the safe side.So from waht i figured out there is no need to create 2 accounts, you can just change region of your account from mynintendo site, but you will lost your balace, thing is will you also lost the digital purchases you did in that region?
Gamechanger If you can use any credit card.

I think it's a ymmv situation.It seems like you can't.
Presumably if it takes paypal, then any credit card should work and without any additional fees even for out of region purchases...?
What about japanese eshop? There will be demos. İf this works it will be great.
Seems to work for people who tried. There is a Puyo Puyo Tetris demo. Japanese site says it's in Japanese only.
King of Fighters 98 apparently has an English option.
This is the most relevant thread I could find to ask this question:
Do I need to close out of a game in order to access the eshop?
