That new player they're using is horrible. I get buffering issues all up in my ass now, and heaven forbid I try to ffwd or jump anywhere - it shits itself. I guess I'll try it with other browsers, because that's what smart people try. I get maybe 30 seconds before it's time to buffer for 45 seconds. :/

Damn, the new player's been perfect for me in Chrome. Didin't get one instance of buffering during the live stream and the 'go back 30 seconds' button is super useful for GIFing.

Watched what I believe was the main event for 1990's "Crash the Super Heavy" event - this translation is great.

Match was Masa Saito, Shinya Hashimoto and Kitao Koji vs "Big Bang Bader & Crusher", Bam Bam Bigelow and Steve Williams and GODDDDDDDD DAAAAAAMNNNNN did this match deliver.

http://njpwworld.com/p/s_series_00093_1_1

Crowd is insane for Hashimoto. Insane for Saito's hulk-ups. BANANAS for Koji's strikes. It's 26 minutes long but ends around the 22 minute mark because there's an extended brawl scene. Vader looks incredible. Bigelow looks ehh. Williams looks like he's on coke. It's worth watching. Thumbs WAY up. It was fantastic. All 3 on each team had ample time to breathe due to it being a six man tag and it went a long way, nobody ever looked slow or like they were running out of gas. Absolutely tremendous and I can't recommend it enough.

For anyone wondering, Jay White is one of the new young lions, he's from New Zealand. Cody Hall's also working a match on the tour, but it won't be televised so obviously he's not quite ready yet.

Only three live shows? We've been so spoiled... I guess it's a short month, too.

They take the last two weeks of February off from touring, so the next live show after that will likely be the Anniversary show in early March, followed by the New Japan Cup in mid-March.

Just under an hour & a half until the first Road to New Beginning show;

1. Alex Shelley vs. Jay White
2. Kyle O'Reilly vs Yohei Komatsu
3. KUSHIDA & Máscara Dorada vs. Matt Jackson & Nick Jackson
4. Hiroyoshi Tenzan, Satoshi Kojima & Jushin Thunder Liger vs. Manabu Nakanishi, Captain New Japan & Tiger Mask
5. Yuji Nagata, Togi Makabe, Tetsuya Naito & Tomoaki Honma vs. Shinsuke Nakamura, Toru Yano, Tomohiro Ishii & YOSHI-HASHI
6. Kazuchika Okada & Gedo vs. Bad Luck Fale & Yujro Takahashi
7. Hiroshi Tanahashi, Hirooki Goto, Katsuyori Shibata & Ryusuke Taguchi vs. Karl Anderson, Doc Gallows, Tama Tonga & Kenny Omega

That's a pretty good card, but i plan on being in bed before then. gonna have to catch it after i get up tomorrow.

Who the heck is Jay White though

One of the new young lions (the other being Cody Hall, who isn't quite broadcast ready yet). White's from New Zealand, they picked him up on Fale & Devitt's recommendation.

Oh, cool. I look forward to it, my dude Alex Shelley's gonna make him look good i'm sure

Also heard good things about Komatsu, who i don't think i've seen but I do like Kyle O'Reilly so i'm sure that'll be fun as well

Thought I might cancel World after WK9 but that terrific spreadsheet has kept me going strong. Love that it's let me fill in on early Steiners (doesn't totally hold up), Hase, and Mutoh, and I'm going thru everything Marufuji now.

That said, it also made me watch a match involving Gedo and Jado, somehow, in 2015.

Hase is a fun dude to watch. Fun to watch one of the best staches in the business.

Sort of. You could buy their ippvs online, but NJPW World is truly the best alternative my limey friend. As your people say, "Fair do's"

The only legal way, yeah. There are some matches on dailymotion and youtube (I'd highly, highly recommend trying to find and watch the AXS TV episodes, the commentary is incredible).

If you thought WK9 was an incredible show, make sure you check out WK7 and some of the packed G1 shows (can't remember which exact ones).

Going through the second of the "Road to New Beginning" shows, and its a much better show so far with commentary and the Korakuen Hall crowd.

The Fall of Okada continues...

Is there a way to watch the AJ Styles debut segment w/ Okada? I think it's in Invasion Attack, but I can't find it.

Also is it like the Network where they stagger content?

Who was the announcer they kept showing during the Nagata/Nakamura main?

Is CHAOS still technically a heel stable that's only heel vs the NJ army? Nak's kind of got a cocky thing going but his interviews look like total crowd pleasers. Watching World in reverse chronology has been like watching him devolve into boring serious arm bar guy yet it hits a certain period where he's much bulkier than now.

The announcer was 'Blue Justice' Nogami, who's a huge Nagata fan and helped Yuji in his feud with Iizuka a few years back (which is the reason Iizuka hates Nogami and sometimes terrorises him during his entrance). CHAOS are only heels when they want to be these days, which hasn't been a whole lot since Iizuka turned on them for Suzuki-gun and Nakamura & Okada gained so much popularity popularity.

so i subscribed to NJPW World and i have to say i'm kinda disappointed in some things:
first of all i thought there would be full shows available, not just selected matches (like on the WWE Network there are full PPV's with intros, promos, backstage segments, the whole thing basically), and even if we take out these, there are still a lot of matches missing (for example, i wanted to see Masahiro Chono's only IWGP Heavyweight championship win, but to my surprise it wasn't there).
I was mainly interested in the '95-'05 period, and i thought at least the January 4th shows will be available in full, sadly they are not.But even if the matches would be there separately it woulda been ok if they were in full, but they cut the entrances, the music and all the stuff happening before and after the matches, and this is the dealbreaker for me.Now i know you will say well what do you need all that stuff for, just watch the in-ring action, but to me those things are part of what i like about wrestling.
I can always watch the live events thru other means, and the newer stuff is already available online in other places, so there is no reason for me to keep the subscription.

With that being said, i would still like to ask you guys to recommend me some matches that i should watch, preferably from that 90s and 00s era.

NJPW updated the schedule, including the shows for March - looks like the NJ Cup final is on tape delay, so it'll be a bitch to avoid spoilers.

. February 27th - New Japan Road - 18:30 JST | 09:30 GMT | 04:30 EST | 01:30 PST
. March 5th - New Japan Cup - 19:00 JST | 10:00 GMT | 05:00 EST | 02:00 PST
. March 8th - New Japan Cup - 18:30 JST | 09:30 GMT | 04:30 EST | 01:30 PST
. March 9th - New Japan Cup - 18:30 JST | 09:30 GMT | 04:30 EST | 01:30 PST
. March 15th - New Japan Cup FINAL - tape delay

If the matches have the introductions removed it's because they don't own the international broadcast rights for one or more of the themes, which includes the vast majority of themes from the Inoki era unfortunately. As for full shows, the only complete events are all the Tokyo Dome shows from 1992-2015 and most shows from the past year. To be honest, the archive content hasn't quite lived up to expectations - it's a good initial offering, but so far the only additions they've made have been via Japanese twitter votes, for a total of about 12 old matches added since the service started which isn't at all quick enough for my liking.

For recommendations, check out my NJPW World Recommended Matches list, there's a bunch of stuff from the 90's on there; tinyurl.com/NJPW-WORLD
