They pulled an opposite Arkham Knight?
Yeah but they achieved console parity...

Dude its not even comparable to fo4. I have played probably around the same amount of fo4 as that and havent come across anything as terrible as the fps drops in Just Cause 3. Its honestly a worse technical mess than anything ive seen on the system
Why can't they use GPGPU to offload physics work to the GPU?
Damn straight. Sega should green-lit a proper sequel.
According to a site of his as of November 2014:Interesting. I didn't see specs listed anywhere in the video, do we know what he's running this on? That kind of hitching makes me think it's asset streaming/loading but who knows. Does he do capture/streaming on the same machine he's playing on?

Because rigid body physics are better off on the CPU. There is a reason my most if not all GPU physic simulations are limited to gameplay-innocuous stuff (hair, clothing, dense particles).
Seems like this is SE pushing for the holiday market. Publishers will never change. The quick buck is everything to them I guess.
I do not think any one of the devs wants the game out in this state.
The weird thing though is apparently it went gold about a month ago. Maybe they just REALLY wanted to make sure they had it on shelves in time, but it's odd that they didn't take some of that time to optimize it.

People always say this but the game had a planned release date; the studio have a responsibility to match their dreams with reality.
SE made a mistake not delaying anyway - clearly the New Year would be better performance wise but also I expect the games going to be lost against so many open world games of 2015 - especially on the coattails of Fallout.
The problem now is the same WB faced; theres no economic reason to improve a game this broken - they blow their marketing budget in the first week and even then if they fix the game many people will already have turned away.
I have the ps4 version, there is no tearing but def framedrops all over the place and i will say it drops below 20 too sometimes
Because there are a lot of explosions happening, I thought they could have been able to offload some of the CPU load to the GPU. Thought wrong?
I am not sure if you are wrong, because I have honestly no clue as to what is happening always in a single frame in this game. But the type of physics on display seem to be normal rigid body physics, which has been customarily always been done on the CPU, even in engines that otherwise use GPU physics. The reasons for which are because CPUs tend to do it "better" as I understand it. If some game world object interacts with gameplay code, and is not just purely visual, then you can bet that you want the CPU to be on it afai understand!
They use Havok in this game. AFAIK the engine is CPU only still.
Short dips when like a trillion physic intensive calculations are going on. This is unpatchable and unavoidable on these consoles.
very hyperbolic. Can you post evidence? it should be pretty repeatable for a share button upload.
What I don't understand is, how outlets like this (Playstation Access) are showing (what is proportedly to be) PS4 footage, that doesn't appear to show much (any?) of the dramatic framerate issues highlighted elsewhere.
Either it's careful choosen footage, or they are running the PC version

I can guarantee thats not ps4 footage!!!
Yeah but they achieved console parity...
BTW what version are reviewers getting? It would be jarring if there is no mention on the console reviews if there are no major performance issues.
I can guarantee thats not ps4 footage!!!
Lol. Yes it is. I'm not saying huge fps drops not happens on ps4 and I haven't the game personally, but I have seen a bunch of walk through which it seems runs fine. Maybe I haven't seen yet the more demanding explosions, but I will check. Surely there are area where runs fine, absolutely.I can guarantee thats not ps4 footage!!!

Wait a second, I said there are situations where runs fine but I will wait DF face off before to expect solid fps. I noticed drops during the explosions so I can't guarantee anything.Well Playstation Access have assured me it's the PS4 version, so.........IDK what to say.
If my copy runs like that, I'll be happy.

Probably fine. Those processors are so far beyond what the consoles are running.
I'll find out soon enough I guess. I'm assuming my 3570 will crush it OC'ed or not.
Calm down children the average framerate is 27 fps. Are you spoiled?
I have not been this excited for a game in years. It looks so much fun. I don't get how you can enjoy gaming but be so upset about a slight loss in fps or 1600 rez.
Back in the day it used to be called slowdown and it was awesome.
I look forward to playing this kick ass game with slowdown during the explosions and sippin' beer while waiting for it to load up a beautiful picture of gaming destruction.
I might be showing my age here...
It's so sad how weak these consoles are. I'm at the point where I want the next gen to start asap. Almost every single game this entire gen has had significant fps drops/poor performance.
