Is it bad that I genuinely don't give an iota of a fuck about any of this stuff? I've been trying to force myself to care but I just don't guys :/
Wasn't it the same with Steam? You get banned you lose everything.
I know for sure though, I'm never getting my account permanently banned, like I said, those are only for people who Mod their system, Mod games, and Mod their account. Those people aren't "banned innocently", no one is. Everyone who gets banned broke something in the Terms Of Use or Code Of Conduct.
Quit acting like people are dimwits for possibly holding different opinions than you. All this stuff GAF is getting up in arms about? None of it affects me. I like the games MS is offering.
This place is becoming less of a discussion forum and more of a high-fiving convention.
Not for nothing, but Major Nelson got his account banned accidentally once. I'm pretty sure didn't broke ToU or CoC.
No, if you're banned on Steam your account is blocked and you can't buy new stuff, but all the games you bought still work (of course, unless they use the VAC system for multiplayer).Wasn't it the same with Steam? You get banned you lose everything.
But it's worth noting that disc games are treated differently than DD games. Disc games can be traded in at stores and rights can be transferred to other users (when these features are made available, that is).
That's only if you are VAC banned. If you are proper banned from Steam you do lose access to all your games.Definitely not the case with Steam, it only locks you out of games that use VAC security IIRC. Didn't EA do something like this with Origin and forum bans and there was a huge shitstorm?
Not the case for PSN though you lose store access and therefore re-download privilage but anything on your console is fine, and obviously all your physical games as will apply to PS4 probably.I thought this was known.
Anyone know if that's the case with PSN? I don't think it is with Steam.
Come on, relax. This place = the internet and the world. This is what a genuine popular revulsion at a bad product looks like. You like it, great - enjoy. But this isn't some gang-attack bandwagon that's happening. No, that is yet to come. This is all well within what they could have expected, and maybe have. Considering the lack of responses from them this week, I think this is what they expected.
It's not unfixable, Microsoft know how to do this because they've done it before.
It's just a bad product. There's no bones about it, and it isn't up for dispute or discussion. Not everything is. Fire is hot, Water is wet, the Xbox One is broken. It doesn't mean you won't enjoy it, it doesn't mean it won't have great games. But it does mean we have to stop talking about bandwagons and piling-on and start talking about a turning point in videogame hardware design. This is the last physical disc generation. From now on, consoles and handhelds, if they exist, will be all-digital and therefore mostly-online. This doesn't mean Microsoft 'jumped the gun' or 'are ahead of their time', they just plain old fucked up. They fucked up looking at what people wanted.
How is that of any importance if you get banned? They are locked to your account, do you really think MS or GS will unregister them for you, so you can register them on a new account? The only thing you could do is sell them, if MS even allows you to do that not terminating the licenses from a banned account to begin with. And even if you do you won't get jack shit from GS or any other participating retailer on a monopolized used games market. If you compare prices on ebay with trade in values at GS you'll always get much less from GS, even after ebay fees. With ebay gone and no private alternative, there is no way in hell you'll get back your entire collection without paying 60% of the original prices again.
I've heard a couple instances of what I view to be unfair bans. Those bans may have been reversed, I don't know. But, for the most part, they're very good at policing their service.
You are wrong about the PS3.so its just like the 360 and i think PS3 then? Nothings changed? this needs to be op

So you admit there's been bans you view as unfair and yet you're fine with MS fucking over people's entire library if an unfair ban happens to them?
That doesn't make the choice to buy the black box that infringes on more of your rights than others, not sound dumb. That just makes you sound passive, which is also not a good thing.

Is there any angle they didn't fuck up

I never defended the policy (I assume you're referring to the longstanding 360 policy, since the XONE policy has not been laid out publically).
It sounds dumb that I want to purchase a product that serves my consumer desires? I'm not buying conflict diamonds here.
Yea. I want a PC version. But knowing them they'll do something stupid and make it window 8 only or somethingThe controller looks pretty good.
Here's a thought:Here's a thought; Maybe you shouldn't get fucking banned
Losing single player access doesn't make any sense, true. (and to reiterate; It does not make sense that I, or anyone, should lose access to all content if there is an illegitimate ban placed on my account)
Yes, when that thing infringes on your rights more than other things on the market. And you choose that thing, please do not expect people not to address you choose a shit product.
And on another note, if you cant live with out games, fine do you . However I just do not like halo enough to dip my money into a console that does, well you have seen the lists. I think I have more self control than that, also fun fact the xbone doesn't really effect me either. However I cannot see the value of not owning my games.

I have solid internet. If hell freezes over and my internet goes down for 24 hours, there are like six smartphones in my house with data connections I can use for the online check-in. I also haven't traded in a game in years. I'm not going to spend $400 for a console with games I'll probably like less just to make a statement.
I'm not sure I agree entirely. MS can change some of these policies. The hardware is not broken, the policies are broken.
That's only if you are VAC banned. If you are proper banned from Steam you do lose access to all your games.
I understand your point and agree. But, are you really purchasing a product? If you were, if would be yours to do with as you please. You do not have that freedom with Xbone.
Do you dude.
I just cannot see the value in it.
No one knows if they will use the same policies with Xbox 1 at the moment.I hope that false alarm tweet above is true.
Jimmies would be markedly rustled if I invested a grand plus in a system + games only to have the Sword of Damocles hanging over my head let go by the whims of Microsoft.
it just enforces everyone to be better gamers and follow the rules.
I can live with that. I'm not experiencing a moral dilemma over it.
All in One. Input One. Morals Zero.
WTF
Is this for Xbone, 360 or both?
I can live with that. I'm not experiencing a moral dilemma over it..
Here's a thought:
Remember when Microsoft banned a bunch of people for playing legitimate copies of Halo 4 early?
Remember when they didn't reverse many of those "illegitimate" bans?
Have fun losing access to your entire library of games for being too enthusiastic.
Which is great. I think if you are informed on the pros and cons of any product the decision is yours to make whether or not to buy it. And who the hell am I (or anyone else) to tell you what you can or can't enjoy?
There's really nothing immoral about selling such a product when the policies are delineated to the consumer up-front.

Upfront? We only found out abaut drm and their stance on used games because the sdk documents were leaked by people like superdae wich caused everyone ti start pressing them on an answer, answers that they continued to evade even at e3. You call that upfront, wat uf non of it had leaked you still think they would have told you?
