The box of the MacBook Pro Retina has actually protective foam on the inside of the top cover. I guess the PS4's box will have the same.
Maybe the demand for delivery on that day is too high for Amazon :/

Why would you assume the box isn't suitable for shipping? As long as the device isn't loose in the box, where it can rattle around and hit the sides, it will be fine.

Yep, I have a Mac and it was really protected through the design of the box/foam. I'm just hoping Sony does the same with the PS4.
lol, don't be. It will be fine. Many boxes also come in enclosing cartons with styrofoam that protect the actual retail box.
The worst packaging I ever had was my Logitech G27. It was just lying in a plastic bag in its carton box without any additional material, no styrofoam, no nothing.

I believe it says that because they don't have a way to enable the release day delivery notification on it, so it defaults to the 2 days shipping. Leaving warehouse on a Monday would mean Tuesday or Wednesday arrival.
Don't worry. You'll get it on release day if yours says launch edition. Go ask an amazon rep if you want confirmation.

Mine had same date to, but that was because I had the standard free shipping. So what I did was apply for the amazon 30 day prime trial and switched delivery to 2 day shipping and now it updated to Nov 15 delivery for 8pm.

So I said yesterday I'd check inventory levels around my area and things look good! 4 stores around me show 100+ systems in transit while some of the smaller stores have between 30-60. Also not updated completely as my specific store only getting 12 so hopefully that changes ha.

It says "Jet Black" in the lower corner of the PS4 box. There shouldn't be a need to list that unless other PS4 color consoles are coming someday.
