PlayStation Now Subscription Program: All The Details

Yoday

Member
This sub should also include access to any games available on PS Now that you own digitally and aren't part of the sub service.

Doesn't really seem worth it if you still have a PS3. I could use Gamefly for about the same price and never worry if the game is going to lag.

Seems like a reasonable price for people who only own a PS4 though.

They should make it so you always pay the lowest price.

Start off by picking and choosing a game, and just play for as long as you like. If you play for an hour, you pay for an hour. If you play a few different games and the overall cost gets to be $20, then it caps the cost at $20 and gives you full access to the catalog like a subscription would.

That's a really good idea.

If the price here in Sweden is good I might try it out, would have been nice if Plus users got a discount on the sub fee though.

Wow. So SONY's promised answer to providing a backwards compatibility option is to market a subscription service to some nebulous demographic that never played PS3 and charge money for it.

And people are okay with this.

Okay...

It's pretty gross. Luckily it's going to continue to be a colossal failure for the time being.

Okay wow people are bitching about the price when it's basically Gamefly prices with zero waiting and 100+ games at your finger tips instead of one at a time. I'm convinced there is no reasonable price point Sony could possibly strike without massive whining.

Have you considered that maybe some of these people either haven't used Gamefly either, or also don't think that service is good value?

That's not even considering the fact that Gamefly offers up-to-date content, rather than a rather small selection of last-gen only game. They say 100+ PS3 games, but I'm seeing stuff like Sonic 4 (and Episode 2), Pacman CE:DX and the like in the image, so who knows how expansive even the PS3 retail offering are at the moment.

EDIT: Oh, there is a list apparently:

It's not a very good lineup at all imo.

Will they ever extend Gaikai to things we already own on the PS3?

Spoiler alert:

Sony didn't spend $380 million on Gaikai, to let you stream all your games (which costs them money, every time you do it) for free. They want to make money.

Keep your PS3 and have the best experience.

I'm guessing that if you access this from the UK there are going to be issues? Has anyone tried?

It'll be £19.99.

No it won't. Just look at the price of the consoles. Dollars equals euros as in $20 for USA and €20 for Europe. UK will share a price point below the £20. 17,99 or something like that.

I'm good w8ith individual prices right now.

Now start putting games like Demons Souls, Folklore, Ni No Kuni, Final Fantasy X HD, God of War 3, etc. and then I'll think about a subscription.

What about the prices for one game at a time, like it is now...will those change? any news on that..?

Prices as they are now per game are just fine. What would .50 really change anything in peoples minds?

If it was something 3dollar/ month if you own plus, 10 else..
I might have bited, if anything to support it since i own every game i want pretty much..
But 20/month? On top of psplus?
Cmon... :)

Its the price of one third of a game to have access to a hundred games for a month. There is value here just as long as there's games in the selection that someone would want to play.

:)

We’ll also offer a free seven-day trial to the subscription program when it launches. (1/13/15)

For those who don't want to spend the money, but still want to find out if game streaming would even work well on their PS4s based on their internet connection.

Okay...

Or you can buy a PS3 and pay for your games one by one since there's no subscription for all those games at your local GameStop or best buy etc. :)

I think I've already played all the ps1, ps2 and ps3 games that I considered "must have" (and still have some in my backlog to play through), so this isn't really for me, but I think the price isn't absurd, it actually is kind of fair, and even better if you're going for the 3 month sub.

20 a month seems fair as fuck to me.

Seriously. 20 bucks and you get access to a ton of shit for a month.

And it is only gonna get better with time. People bitched about ps plus and that turned out amazing. I'll give Sony the benefit of the doubt.

Why does he wear the mask!?
I'm from the UK but have a US account with PS+

Can I use this? Also is there a discount for PS+?

And is there trophy support?

If it comes to UK and it's £20, they'll have shot themselves in the foot.

It's pretty gross. Luckily it's going to continue to be a colossal failure for the time being.

Do you have some internal numbers to support the claim of it being a failure?

Or just going off your own dismissal of the program?

I know I personally have been renting since the program hit. Probably rented 10-12 times by now, atleast.

This really needs to come with a significant discount for PS+ users. I can't see it getting market saturation as successfully otherwise.

I was just impressed with the Try before you Buy offer. Thats a whole lotta bandwidth. As you stated as well a great way to test the service.

For those who do not have the console, pricing seems good (when the service becomes available for other devices). Not interested personally.

Okay...

it's the only way for ps3.
but i hope they won't block a release of local emulation for ps1/2, since i BOUGHT those game on the store. i pretty much gave up on disc emulation

Price point sounds fair if you ask me anyone who thought this was gonna be $9.99 a month is out of their mind. I personally have no use for it as I'll be keeping my PS3 when I get a PS4 in a month, but a good deal if you have only a PS4.

pricing is 1000x better than the current model. not a terrible deal for someone who doesn't have a ps3 or has a good connection and wants to game on vita a lot

I agree with this. I don't get how it's an additional service that ps+ subscribers are not getting a better deal for. I was sort of expecting them to bundle it with ps+ making it a higher price of like $99 or something like that. It would of made more sense like that.

I can't imagine subbing long-term, but $20 to have access to over 100 games for as many hours as you can spend in a month sounds like a great occasional purchase.

This is a great deal. Just think, the service has 100+ games now and it will only improve. When they add PS2 and PS1 games then it will will only get even better.

Sure, that's fine. Maybe they will make it a better deal.

But today the content doesn't quite justify the price for me.

I'd rather them just allow me to stream games I've already purchased. I guess my PS3 will be plugged in for quite a while.

nebulous demographic that never played PS3

They never targeted you. It's actually crystal clear who they're aiming it for if you give it a thought. Sony never cared for a small group of gamers who beg for BC on forums. They care for the casuals who aren't in the PS ecosystem. PS Now will allow people who dont own a PS console to play PS games, it's coming to Samsung smart tv's this year http://www.ign.com/articles/2014/12/24/sony-bringing-playstation-now-to-samsung-smart-tvs-in-2015

Other brands, tablets, phones and pc will likely follow.

Not bad, kind of what I expected. I can see this being viable for folks on the higher end of the income scale. Maybe something like this in hotel rooms with Samsung TVs like they did back in the day.

Nope

I have no faith in the stability of PSN

Paying a monthly fee for backwards compability of many games I already own is not something I find appealing, especially since this compability is dependent on a working network.

My backlog is too big anyway.

Could you please link me to a Vita playable version of Last of Us in Denmark for less then 19.99?

Deadly Premonition is fine too.

Maybe your shopping savvy can help me out, since apparently I don't have any.

You won't be playing this in denmark anyways because it's US only and IP locked.

As for TLOU question http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=954103

Playable through remote play, and unlike this supports (and includes) all the DLC
