This has surely been posted already, but this is one anecdote that really makes me respect the man.

Thanks for posting this. I was going to dig up the quote from the investor briefings, but I couldn't while I was at work."I sincerely doubt employees who fear that they may be laid off will be able to develop software titles that could impress people around the world." - Iwata
This made me tear up, but at the same time feel weirdly better.
And I'm crying again. This is absolutely incredible. That's actually not the HQ, it's their Kyoto R&D building.
Which is kind of even more appropriate, since we're remembering him as he wanted, as a creator, not an executive.
I don't know if Nintendo World Store in NYC is planning anything, but I'll stop by just to soak it all in today.
Couple notes to reiterate:
1. The dark one with the light grey text is specifically for the dark NeoGAF theme. There needs to be two versions.
2. NeoGAF has already stated that their art team is at work on a tribute logo that will be evaluated. However the Pride logo was scheduled to remain through the end of July, and that will be a factor as well.
Mr. Iwata is gone, but it will be years before his impact on both Nintendo and the full video game industry will be fully appreciated. He was a strong leader for our company, and his attributes were clear to most everyone: Intelligence, creativity, curiosity and sense of humor. But for those of us fortunate enough to work closely with him, what will be remembered most were his mentorship and, especially, his friendship. He was a wonderful man. He always challenged us to push forward…to try the new…to upset paradigms—and most of all, to engage, excite and endear our fans. That work will continue uninterrupted.
Only learned that HAL isnt owned by Nintendo. They have been tied at the hip for so long I just assumed it was a part of Nintendo.
Also whats the deal with that logo. Its a dog keeping eggs warm?
I'm curious if Japanese news programs are gonna report it. I wonder if NHK will.
Here are two videos from Japanese evening-news. A bit of old and rare footage in them.

Honestly I was going to start another run of pikmin 3 and splatoon today, but I don't think I can. It doesn't feel the same.

I've dealt with loss and grief myself, but this one has hit me pretty hard, especially for not personally knowing him. Leaving something out can help, so make sure you do it in a spot where others can join. Seems the memorials are growing in number.Guys, I'm on my way to Nintendo of America HQ. I will leave this somewhere. I just want to pay tribute to a man who brought us so much joy.
Dealing with the loss of someone you cared about is something I'm still not used to, so don't know what else to do.
Two of them already did :
NHK only had like a 15 second blip in their 9pm news :-/

The rainbow goes directly from Nintendo's development building to the heavens.
Same. This is the first I've teared up over the passing of someone I've never met.So tragic. Never felt so affected by the death of a non-family member before. It's a mysterious feeling.
I had been able to withhold tears until now
