Seeming surge of hate crimes, assaults, intimidation in wake of Trump victory

These incidents seem very similar to what happened in UK earlier this year.
It's like the whole world is slowly decending into madness.

From me (A straight white male from a middle-upperclass family)

Fuck you and your "economic anxiety" if you voted and supported a sexual assaulting, racist, xenophobic monster for the presidency. You do not get to claim that you are not racist when have enabled a man who is in turn enabling the worst of society. You are a racist when you think only of your fucking taxes and do not care for the rights of others. People only 24 hours after the election ended have begun committing acts of violence and intimidation against people of color, women, and the LBGT. This is only the beginning. This shit is likely to go on for the next four years. Its is your fault. People will get hurt, people will fear for their safety and the safety of those they care about, and likely people will lose their lives at the hands of the people you and Trump emboldened. That blood is on your hands.

I'd like to think Northwestern is an inclusive and good school, and I still had to escort a handful of female and/or Muslim students home (late, night time). Nothing happened, thankfully, but the simple fact that such a thing was even thought as necessary is horrifying. I may have to do this regularly for a while and I will oblige every time.

The school has been supportive and openly made very clear, very definitive statements against any hate crimes against anyone for any reason (including why/for whom they voted, which is good). If I see students do this, I have every intention to report them and they will almost certainly be expelled immediately (this is how past incidents have been dealt with in less turbulent times) as well as reported to local police.

We didn't have a rally like down in Chicago, but there were help groups formed and attended.

Thankfully, I haven't seen or heard of any attempts at intimidation or hate so far in our area.

I am proud that my university made a statement solidifying their support of marginalized groups and their commitment to keeping bigotry out of the classrooms

Fortunately, I am capable of defending myself and others well enough after years of boxing and jujitsu.

Yup. Trump supporters are already talking about "getting my guns ready" for the protesting (which they call rioting, btw) that's going on.

I'm white, and it's clear as fucking day that other whites have an irrational fear of the black man. Guess I'm lucky that I've lived most of my life around people of color and actually have a fucking heart.

It's genuinely concerning we are to something egregiously bad happening. All it takes is someone going just a bit too far.

Just... stay safe guys alright.

I'm not shocked by this at all. When you have a president who is so vulgar and fails to show any signs of respect, this is what happens.

The worst part is the trump supporters says it's fabricated and then point to the flag burning protest. This is not ok. This country will only get worse. I'm sorry to any victim of hate, not one person should ever have to endure that. Stay strong and be smart.

Suddenly I worried about my grandfather. We're Puerto Rican, but while me and my nuclear family is pretty light-skinned, he has a much darker complexion, and at least once has been mistaken for a worker on his property. He lives in north Florida (Ocala), and never had problems before, but still...

This is water slowly coming to a boil in a kettle, this type of vitriol and the hatred that spurred it this far, never goes quietly into the night. Sooner or later the last bit of kinetic energy will kick into the pot and the whole kettle will scream.

Hatred has also been emboldened and sees itself as justified, and someone out there is going to lack the proper cognitive inhibitions and rationality to not use their guns (or someone terrified is going to shoot someone attacking them). It won't end well, best be ready for it.

This is going to end horribly and very very soon. This will only feed violence responses as well. It will become a cycle, and there simply aren't enough cops (even counting the already racist/shitty ones who probably silently support this) to even begin to handle it.

In places where there are more minorities who can unite and really fight back, it will become uglier. I really do believe gangs will start actively fighting this and protecting their own. And who can blame them? They're equipped to do so. I'm in no way condoning ANY violence, I just truly believe it will come strongly from BOTH sides once shit really hits the fan.

This will also contribute so massively to ISIS/other terrorist cells recruiting. Doesn't matter what they achieve over there, it'll hit the US really hard. Be it lone wolf attacks or more focused and strategic moves, this only helps them achieve their goals.

These people are literally setting the stage for a type of civil war. I'm a straight white male. I stand behind blacks, minorities, LGQBT, etc. Many of us will.

It's terrible for the economy (y'all ain't getting your jobs back, nor more money/benefits), it's terrible for the environment (for the whole world, and future generations...) and it's terrible for the US in general, for EVERYONE, because all this white on black/brown crime will be answered with the opposite. And there will be white on white crime as well, as many of us don't agree with any of this or respect these people. At one point no one will stop to find out what a person's beliefs, sexuality, or immigration status really are, it'll just be flat out color/perception.

It's horrible. I'm so happy I'm in Canada. I don't even want to go visit family in the US anymore. Fuck all of that. I hope none of this trickles upwards. We have our own racists who were pro Trump. I really hope this doesn't empower them as well. I feel for you guys, so much. I'm so sorry you're living this. 4 fucking years. To even BEGIN to apply bandaids. This will cause enough damage to last my lifetime.

It's a small conciliation in present but wasn't that a spike that eventually dropped sharply?

Trump was asked multiple times to denounce support of racist groups and people, in one interview even, and he repeatedly acted like he didn't know who a prominent racist group member was, even after being told who he was. His silence was clear support of those people. This is why they feel he's with them, and enables their behavior. A president of 2016. Trump knew exactly what he was doing, he share supports their beliefs. Heck his slogan supports them.

I don't see how people was blind to this, it was clear as day.

This is what I'm looking forward to. I don't have a gun, and I don't like them. I don't want to harm anyone so I won't even have a baseball bat. I think I will practice having my phone camera ready since it can start with just one button. And I will try to avoid crazy people to the best of my ability. I have a nephew that's 9 and I do worry about him. My two nieces are 1 and a few months old. My brother is currently over seas in Iraq somewhere. His wife and daughter are alone in Tennessee. I hope this doesn't get out of control.

It's so concerning. It's a complete inability to see the other view, and a complete reliance on excuses for your actions. "I am never wrong." It's poisonous. I'm not sure if it's even capable of being reasoned with.

I'm kinda shocked that the US is moving to a (real) fascist country so fast. I mean, the US has been kinda a police state for a while now and fucked up a lot of places in the world since WW II but this is really the next step.

One thing (of many) I am very worried about is the possibility of Trump trying to follow through with the mass deportation threat. We've not got police forces that can even handle the situations that arise right now in a timely fashion in many places. I can't imagine them also being given the tiny task of breaking up every family with persons who aren't legal citizens and routing them out of their homes.

That's a HUGE number of families (which is heart-breaking and inhumane in and of itself.)

Guess who will be more than ready to help out the boys in blue? The same people committing these hate crimes right now, of course. They will be so emboldened by an executive commitment to this idea that literal militias could start operating overtly in many places. This might sound like paranoid fear-mongering, but I think the sooner we start accepting the fact that nothing is "unthinkable" anymore, the better.

Yo this is straight up disgusting if true. I really doubt most supporters think this evil shit is remotely acceptable. Supporters I know would be appalled and heart broken.

What's the fucking point.

I feel so demoralized. This makes me fly right past anger into a hollow, emptiness. I feel like giving up and it's only day two. These bullies, these racists, they were all vindicated last night.

I know I'll get out of this rut and find the enthusiasm to combat this, but right now I feel helpless. This is sickening. The mid-terms feel so far away, let alone four entire years of a presidency.

I don't usually contemplate suicide, but when I do I think about America.

I think I need to get someone to come with me on BART if I leave at night. Fucking hell I really will be scared for for my life every day for the next 4 years. I just have to be a brown minority.

Maybe the most important thing is that we now know the full extent of the problem.

America was always like this. Now they feel like they don't have to hide it (as much).

Trump enabled this. I feel sick. Never is it more apparent than now how lucky I am to be a white male. I'm so disgusted with this country.

I think this is more true than we ever realized.

"How dare you call people who actively voted for a bigot a bigot, how dare you, you're just as bad, herp a derp a fuckity derp derp" What more will it take at this point? Honestly?

But all the white moderates on NeoGAF said we just need to talk to these people and understand them and get over it.

It doesn't fucking matter. It's a lose-lose situation either way. Calling people out only further entrenches and angers them, trying to open a dialogue is met with mocking and resentment.

I honestly don't even know what the solution is anymore. I have one, but...

So, I just saw one of the person closest to me tell his little daughter that everything is going to be fine, and then I had to open this thread. :/ Expected, but still very sad.

Assuming you guys area already talking about the mass shooting at the anti-trump rally?

It wasn't at the rally and wasn't connected to the rally. From the article:

The shooting did not appear to be connected to the anti-Trump demonstrations but instead stemmed from a personal argument, said Robert Merner, assistant chief of the Seattle Police Department.
