Yooka-Laylee launches April 11th, considering Switch version instead of Wii U

So a short delay just like Persona 5. Yooka Laylee was scheduled for Q1but now coming start of Q2. Also Wii U port being canceled for Switch just as most people expected.

You must have missed Super Mario 3D World.
There is a difference in a game being made from the ground up with the Wii u in mind with whatever engine nintendo used. And a multiplatform game where the Wii U is clearly the weakest console of the bunch .Them having to make the game while keeping the Wii u in mind probably only restrained the team. ditching that version was a smart move it would of have been better if they did it immediately though.

While the technical reasons for it not coming to the Wii U makes sense, I am slightly confused about how the financial reason does. There are already 13 million owners of the Wii U they could sell this game to whereas the Switch will be starting from a base of 0. Wouldn't they be making more money off the Wii U than the Switch?

I don't Unterstand the faq page. It says I can change My WiiU choice to another platform free of Charge, but then what is that 50% discount for?

Aw yeah, portable Yooka-Laylee

Edit: It looks nice but it's like some obvious bits are missing, no impact sound/visual for when you land a hit on an enemy?

The casino level is immensely more interesting than some of the early stuff they showed off but some stuff like the sound effect for the rolling attack is not good.

Im just ready to hear more David Wise music though.

I don't think so, there's are like what 90 million Xbox 360s? Xbox One would still out perform any 360 software released at this point. Installbase doesn't really matter of it isn't active.

It's a matter of active owners. Many of those Wii U owners have moved to new platforms or just dont care about Wii U anymore. On the other hand fresh Switch owners will be looking for new games to play.

Good. I hope Bloodstained follows suit. They can "discuss" refunds, but frankly, if you won't accept any other format than Wii U, you're a stubborn one.

Not so sure about this, believe it or not but there are people out there with no other device other than a Wii U. I'm glad they're moving it to Switch but if you want a refund because you can't access other platforms you aren't stubborn.

Me too, though it'd also pretty much kill off the Vita version. Would be an even less justifiable use of resources to have Armature port Unreal 4 just to one format instead of two, and release a bespoke version of the game for that single format that's a shrinking pond.

One thing's for sure: Cancelling the Vita version won't go down well with that system's fanbase

They're telling you if you think of getting a refund, the game will be more expensive when release. Basically, the price you paid on the kickstarter is 50% cheaper than the official release.

I expected something like this to happen. No way they'd port a third party game to a dead system one month after the Switch came out.

I picked PS4 since I knew the Wii U would be dead by the time this game release, I still hope I can chance to the Switch version.

That's false logic because every video game is made on a PC if not at least a computer of some sort.

No, that's not. People should start understanding that nowadays, when people are saying a game is made for PC/PC as a target, they don't mean that it's made on a PC but that there's a main PC build which is then downported to console versions for easier porting process.

There is, but I very much doubt the original comment was asking how a Unity game would look on Wii U, but instead trashing the "low power" console.

Wii U can produce very nice looking games, is what I was trying to get across.

Lol. Reading the comments on that post are hilarious.

People in denial that the Wii U is as powerful as a toaster.

People who will never get another system? People who are content playing only Wii U games in 2017 and are also hardcore gamers enough to support a retro-based Kickstarter? The numbers must be minimal.

As long as people who picked the Wii U version are given the option of a refund, I have no problem whatsoever with them cancelling it. I don't see a lot of people taking the refund anyway, I can't imagine there are too many Wii U owners who don't also own a PS4, Xbox One, or gaming-quality PC, and have no plans to get a Switch.

So i presume we can change from Wii U to Switch update will happen just after the Switch Presentation.

I hope I can upgrade to get the physical version for Switch.

I doubt there were a lot people who backed the game for a WiiU version, but I think they are handling the situation very well with refunds and all.

Game's gonna be fire BTW.
I think most people that backed the game were Wii U owners/Nintendo fans, but a majority of them will probably be ok with upgrading to the Switch.

Everything is looking good. Hopefully they'll give out refunds to those that want them. I might upgrade to physical if they're confident about shipping on time.

Excellent, I'll be more than happy to opt for the Switch version. Just hope it comes out fairly close to the other versions, though a slightly longer delay would be understandable.

After thinking about it, I'll wait out for the Switch version so I can have the option to play it off-screen too. Wonder if they'll put in any Nintendo easter eggs during the extra dev time?

Didn´t find the Casino level looked that polished.
But here is the Kickstarter exclusive Video of the final version of the first (?) level and I think it looks really awesome:

I think it´s the opposite.
The majority of the backers are hardcore Nintendo fans that opted for the WiiU version.

this is what i thought as well. But I'm ok switching to the switch version, but are they charging me to do so? think it's a dick move to charge me for something i already paid for.

Well from looking at the post, it seems if you picked the wiiu version and still want the switch, it won't even be coming out on April 11th.

So I either have to choose a switch version and wait possibly months or choose the xbox on version :(

That'll be up to Nintendo. It'll be interesting to see if Nintendo have reached out to them for something like that considering how many people already associate it with Nintendo platforms.

Was about to get annoyed, then remembered that I didn't end up backing it lol. Wii U backers should be able to move it to Switch though - where I will be picking it up.

Considering? In their post they said the wii u version is cancelled and they are working with N to get it on the switch. Seems like a done deal to me.

The Wii U version was a 'done' deal as well.
:p

One less Wii U game I have to get and one more Switch game. Hopefully it releases at launch but I'm concerned it may be rushed.

Also, this pretty much confirms Switch is more powerful than Wii U if the statements are to be believed about technical issues.

Edit: Not that I doubted it but I've read some here that did doubt Switch being an improvement and thought it would be more of a lateral move and handheld (of course).
