TITANFALL 2 Reviews Thread

Just finished the campaign. It's a masterpiece. Reminded me of Vanquish more than any FPS I could think of. Best campaign of its kind since Modern Warfare 2 or Halo Reach, but probably better than either.

Play it on Hard.

I'll throw this out again then

For anyone that's played the campaign, how is the AI on higher difficulties? Will they be aggressive, or even defensive or try to flank you etc? Or is it more shooting gallery like COD. I understand they provide nice big arena type areas and more varienty on your end but I'm interested in how the enemies behave and interact with the environment etc

You're talking some of the best movement and feel of any FPS (TF2) compared to some of the most clunky and wonky (IW).

Man that IW beta was disappointing... and i'm a huge COD fan. Was going to be picking up both and TF2 will be my shooter for the foreseeable future (along with older Destiny and Overwatch).

I think the new maps, full pilot and titan options and all game modes will really improve on the experience many had with the TF2 alpha.

I'm sure you'll end up enjoying it MUCH more than IW.

Same here. I am a HUGE cod fan. About a month before the new COD comes out I start counting down the days. Between TF2, BF1 and COD I don't have the time to invest in all three. Since COD seems to be the weaker game of the bunch that's what is getting skipped this year.

I am sure there will be improvements from the beta. Seems like respawn really is listening to the feedback. I think TF2 is going to end up being a great game.

Enemies do flank and they're extremely dangerous up close, but combat is more about crisis management. Most battlegrounds have different enemy types in them, and you always need to dispatch the tougher and more aggressive enemies before you start parkouring around and booting everything else in the face.

Enemies also seem to hide in order to attack you from behind when you push forward. This happened multiple times on Hard.

IW's movement isn't clunky and wonky. I enjoy both games and think Titanfall has the better movement, but IW/BO3 is no slouch. However, I would say that in IW with most of the maps presented it feels out of place and a tacked-on element rather than something to compliment map traversal. I feel like IW was told to keep it futuristic (or they were too far into it to revert) but were scared to completely integrate it because of the whole "boots on the ground" movement.

Have they made significant changes since the beta? I was excited for it, then played the beta and found it entirely lackluster and almost clunky.

Yes. The general consensus now is that the game is in a much better state than it was during the tech tests. The only tech test complaints still potentially outstanding are the quality of the 3 maps (which look to be the exception and not the rule, as the other 6 maps look stellar), and Titan shields/batteries (a core design decision that Respawn is sticking with that seems to have grown significantly on people).

IW controls a lot different that BOIII. BOIII has superb movement and feel while IW seems like they wanted to add weight and a feeling of "gravity" but it messes with movement. The slide does feel good but quick turning feels almost "killzone-esq" like you're carrying weight around... as does the shorter duration vertical boosts and wallruns.

I truly believe Titanfall makes those games feel very "clunky and wonky". I think it's because I played a lot of TF, then those games that their movement just feels so tacked on to me.

I'm so happy for TF|2 and incredibly hyped!

This fall has been very interesting as a shooter fan with three big titles coming out so close to each other.

The great thing is that we got to test all of them. I really enjoyed the tech test but wasn't sold until I had played BF1 and IW betas.

The choice was eventually easy :)

That's a great answer man, I really appreciate that :)

I want to get it so bad with that price but not knowing if the community will stick with this on PC is killing me.

If you are US east or central time zones, for as bad as the population was on the first game, I never had a problem getting games in at normal evening hours. Put probably almost 70 hours into it over probably 5 or so months of play.

I personally feel like it will be alot better this time. The popular streamers who stream the game will be on PC, alot of competetive players are on PC,m + kb, they fixed alot of issues Titanfall 1 had at launch, free dlc, and nvidia/razer have been promoting the shit out of titanfall2 on their product pages. Frothy even said he said it will last A LOT longer this time around, and thats comin from someone who put in 1k hours for Titanfall 1.

Damn, I was going to buy Skyrim on Friday and get this around Black Friday. After reading some of the reviews and impressions, I've changed my mind. Plus, I beat Skyrim when I had it on 360, so that shit can wait.

While I doubt the PC community will have the playerbase drop off as badly as Titanfall 1, you might as well go for it unless you're planning on getting it on a console. Better to play it when there's guaranteed to be a playerbase, than for 50% off way down the line after people have moved on.

Shit was gonna preorder this cuz I saw on IGn for Amazon Prime you can get a discount but it's not showing any discount for me. Is there no longer a discount on Amazon for a pre order? This game isn't out yet right? So confused.

I imagine the answer is somewhere in this thread, but, why does the gun constantly tilt to the left? Is there a gameplay reason for that?

I'm really excited for this month's and next month's NPD numbers (or announcements from EA and Activision on sales numbers) more than I have been in a long time. EA made a really ballsy move with their release schedule this fall and have delivered some quality games; I really want to see it pay off for them.

I already bought BF1 and was thinking about skipping this one, but those impressions are soooo damn good to skip it

Just pre-ordered for PS4, cannot wait till Friday!

Question for those who have read a lot of reviews and impressions:

Is the progression system (in terms of weapon and other unlocks) deeper than TF1? I loved the core gameplay of TF1, but the shallow progression system didn't keep me tied to the multiplayer in the long run.

Reminded me of Vanquish more than any FPS I could think of.

This is instantly what I thought when they started showing off the single-player. This being reminiscent to Vanquish is a huge factor as to why I've been so interested in it.

I pre-ordered it last night. Pre-loading now! Can't wait! This is going to be my first Titanfall experience.

This exactly. Had no intention of getting TF2 but this thread has convinced me otherwise. Great to see that Respawn is getting high praise. I'm miles more excited for this than IW.
