Splatoon Raiders Reviews thread

Nintendo's marketing doesn't really do the game justice. There is a whole lot more to unpack then what they show at face value.
They did the same thing with Pokopia, Tears of the Kingdom, etc...

I think Nintendo just doesn't want to reveal the entire game. Creating Word of Mouth, which happened with Pokopia.

I've seen some Day 1 stuff on mid and endgame and the game is going to be a treat for many. Can't wait to jump in tomorrow.

The gadgets and how they affect traversal, mobility and how you approach combat is dynamically different from standard Splatoon play.

Does the game have a matchmaking system for co-op like the earlier splatoon games?

I'd like to know as well. All I've heard is "friends" co-op so far.
"Alternatively, players can team up with strangers before participating in a raid via the Call for Help feature, allowing solo players to take advantage of online play by giving them a chance to ask for help from Helpers to make raiding easier.

Call for Help Feature Has a Cooldown

Keep in mind, however, that using the Call for Help feature has a cooldown, which means you cannot use it in your succeeding raids until the cooldown has lapsed!"

Pretty shitty solution tbh, its typical nintendo. If you dont have friends you fucked in most of their games, so stupid

I'm not sure if it's "local co-op" or just online. Would be awesome if it has all options: random matchmaking, friends matchmaking and local co-op.
Yes there is local play but there is no couch coop. You need another device and the game
Nice, I'll pick up a copy for my me and my wife.

Been wanting to surprise her with a gift, anyway. Sounds like it'll be a blast this weekend :)

I'm hoping what happens is you can put out some sort of sos beacon in the middle of a single player match, but if you want you can queue for a dungeon/map with either friends or matchmake with random people. If you can only play with friends and that Call for help feature it's going to reduce the replayability.

I'm not throwing shade. Let me say that first.

With the Switch 2 when *HAS* the marketing been on point. The whole thing from before launch until now is strange.

Edit: so far the NS2 has been very good overall. IMO. But the marketing has not helped it.

I'd say Switch 2 marketing has felt subdued, but I think Splatoon Raiders crosses over to confusing.

You can play with friends but you cant matchmake with randoms. Hopefully they get the feedback and will get added later, but its nintendo so probably not :D

Holy shit...fuck you amazon! Ordered it weeks ago, and you're telling me it'll come a week late??

Played for 1,5h. Solid 8/10 game.

HDR is pretty lackluster. No real highlights visible. Star Fox was way way better. But at least the image quality is decent. Looks higher than 1440p, maybe 1800p?

that's pretty dumb given you can matchmake with randoms in the pve mode for splatoon 3....

Its the nintendo way! They always doing these half ass solutions and outdated mechanics
This review makes it sound like you can queue with randoms:

"If you loved Salmon Run or the Side Order DLC (which also became similarly wild in the later stages of the tower, when you were overpowered with all the upgrades), you will likely love Splatoon Raiders. And like Salmon Run, you can easily join multiplayer parties with friends, join random parties or call for help at any moment."
