Just going back to the same guys. It's just all marketing for all of them. Same with the kinda funny guys etc. it's all an extension of the marketing team for those brands and companies.

They even had limited edition Xbox One and One S onesies.........which I missed out on!!!!!!!!

You should check the marathon review thread... lots of sony fans bashing them for "asking" reviewers to postpone marathon reviews.
The grooming of the acces media is ridiculous and a cancer to the industry, but is done by both MS and Sony.
The clear difference is the payed army of digital shills (ambassadors) including lower tier ones that lurks in foruns like gaf and resetera.

The June event is dedicated to just games as it should be. Using historical precedent, this will likely be a dedicated event focused on hardware.
May seems like a good month to do this.

Weird, unless the final name is 'Project Helix' or at the very worst 'XBox Helix', then I don't see the point, they are marketing something that the end consumer doesn't even need to care about.
I mean, if Phil was still here, I would say that, but something tells me the new CEO might come out and announce the new hardware or even talk about it. Just my 2 cents.

Believe it or not, this doesn't bother me THAT much and it is at the very least a DATA point that Xbox is trying to right the ship and that maybe AI Asha is somewhat serious about rebranding Xbox.
This does not mean I have any faith in Microsoft making PC or Xbox gaming better, I simply cannot envision a world where I will consider jumping back into Xbox, but I am starting to peek in that direction.
With Microsoft to be anything less than skeptical is stupid. They have done nothing to earn my trust. I will believe NOTHING they tell me, I will believe what they show me and I can actually use.
However, I cant call it a bad thing to say that its a good thing that the seem to be saying the right things and finally acknowledging that Windows is crap and consumers are really developing a hatred of AI.
And who knows? Maybe...just maybe...not having a gamer in charge of Xbox is exactly what they need.
Here is what I want to see:
1. Make a gaming focused version of windows that can function like Gamescope in SteamOS/Bazzite/CachyOS that has full driver support, but is totally optimized for maximum gaming performance. I am just not ready to jump on the Linux train just yet when I am still rocking a 4090 and 5070 Ti. Linux performance has made drastic strides with nvidia, but I still feel we are a long way from it.
If Microsoft does that, I will praise Asha to the moon.

The merch is only going to make insufferable Xbox "influencers" even more insufferable. In the end, it really doesn't mean much. As I said above, Microsoft is trying to sell Asha right now. That's only going to go so far. As you are saying here, the product has to kick ass. This has been the problem though. MS is great at pumping up Xbox hype, but they have not been able to create a product that captures the attention of more than just the Xbox diehards. That's a hard sell for a PlayStation fanbase that is entrenched in the PS ecosystem and, oh by the way, stands to get Xbox games anyway. Easier sell for Steam gamers who are going to use this to buy/play Steam games. Question remains as to where the hook is in this thing for Microsoft to make money. The other shoe is going to drop at some point.

Also, why would Windows need a micro compositor like Gamescope?
